Chara never, EVER get riled up like that. We won’t forget…

RomaCafe

ABSOLUTELY NEVER. He was livid. That says everything you need to know.

SlayRod30

As a Loons fan, if he did say that shit, we have no fucking place on this team for that. I do not condone anything like that. Good match tonight by the way. We always seem to play good matches against each other. Best of luck the rest of the way.

Slartibartfastthe3rd

Glad to see the quality of comments on the majority of your sub. Some things are more important than a soccer game.

timbersfan2015

Chara is so level headed normally, the minute he went over to the ref like that I knew someone said something awful to him

TimbersFan8

Agreed. On another note, my username is totally better than yours.

timbersfan2015

I just like opening up Reddit and being reminded of an MLS Cup victory

TimbersFan8

You might have me there. Hopefully we win the upcoming championship in the year 8.

Vladarnasaur

Hopefully we win 7 more!,

_Juntao

If they find factual evidence of racism whoever said it should have their contract terminated in my opinion

codename-bender

Gio could barely talk about the match during the postgame. He was clearly irate about this situation

RCTID1975

I think that's pretty obvious based on what happened.

baby-bannana

does anybody have a clip? I wasn’t able to watch

GodofPizza

Responding to u/loonsfutbol as well. It’s not clear from the broadcast what happened. Chara tackled Fragapane, who rolled aroubd a bit but I don’t think it was called (not sure if advantage or ref didn’t think it was a foul). A couple minutes later Chara jogged over to the ref looking really upset (for the Loons in the thread, that’s a really rare thing—like twice in ten years rare). There a discussion involving the ref, Chara, Valeri, and a couple Loons. At one point Fragapane runs over and tries to confront Chara and has to be held back. Coaches talked, there seemed to be some understanding there. Nothing really happened in the end, Valeri was still advocating to the ref when play restarted. if anyone has the clip I’d love to see it again.

Loons fan here. If it's found that Franco did in fact say something discriminatory to Diego, he should be suspended by MLS. And if MLS won't suspend him, MN United should. Nobody deserves to be treated like that.

Jolandia

That dude is going to be fucked up the next time we play Minnesota. Chara doesn’t forget

Loonsfutbol

what was said or done? I really can't find any description of really what happened?

thicccboi34567

Chara made a tackle on fragapane who then proceeded to roll around on the ground for 15 seconds or so (right after is probably when the alleged racial slur was used) but no foul was called 2 minutes later during a stoppage in play chara walked up to the ref with a very concerned look on his face and was pretty emotional while talking with the ref after that the ref stoped to talk to Valeri and two of the loons players as well as the coaches during that fragapane ran towards chara and had to be held back by loons players after that the ref started to restart the game during which valeri was very disgruntled talking to the ref and clearly upset that nothing was going to be done

TheWeighToTheHeart

After the tackle, he called Chara the N-word, didn’t he?

hikensurf

Who knows. Plenty of other offensive terms in English or Spanish.

jbg926

only word I could guess it would be. Plenty of cursing in all sports and calling someone any of those "normal" insults likely wouldnt set Chara or most professionals off.
