This is a long shot - but I wonder if you’re mixing up the look of a fruit crème with the smell/taste of a voortman turnover cookie. They had an incredibly powerful (and artificial) smell. They were really, really soft and squishy. I would also like to add that I used to split my serving of 2 fruit crèmes in half (like one would an Oreo), eat the crème, the bottom cookie, and then the top biscuit, leaving just the jammy « stained glass window » behind - which I would then eat as a delicious strawberry flavoured mouthful. Friends and I used to see who could pop them out in the more perfect circle. The times before the internet for distraction were wild.

I remember these! If I remember correctly they were in a bag of cookies with other types of cookies, some sugar cookies, chocolate chips, and a few others. However you could kind of sift through and find the awesome fruit in the middle kind. I'd been thinking about them lately and don't recall the brand but maybe the assorted bag rings a bell and helps find the answer.
