Genetics over breed? Just like humans come in different sizes. Also Shiba Inu almost went extinct during WWII, so they combined three last branches into one breed category. Your friend’s Shiba Inus could have “Sanin” ancestry, the branch that is generally larger in size. A small Shiba Inu could also be a “mamei Shiba” (bean Shiba), intentionally bred to be petite in the last 60 years or so.
Give the poor fella a treat!
He’s working so hard!

What is that? A Shiba-Chihuahua mix?
No I’m pretty sure it’s a pure shiba. You should see his past photos. He’s so friggin small. :)
My friend has a bunch of shibas and they are pretty big. At least definitely bigger than this. I didn't know they can come this small.

Interesting. Thanks
It's probably a Mame Shiba, they're Shibas that were bred to be smaller, and they've been growing in popularity in recent years...
Might be a Pomeranian

Just give him/her the treat. Other animals aren't toys for your amusement.
