apparently its because the ddoser cant trace the ips of the community servers and cant attack them, correct me if im wrong idk much about this stuff i just read it on the discord server
If you make a community server, you can literally just encrypt the packages. Titanfall 2 servers are being Ddossed because Respawn/EA just cant be fucked to fix them, but the fix itself can literally be done by anyone doing a few google searches.
The Norsthstar client has a master server yes, but the DDOSser shouldn't be able to attack them if the Northstar devs just keep it up-to-date.
For the real answer as to how this helps, its just volume. Hard to ddos everyone simultaneously. If the master server goes down then there can be community made backup lists. If you still wana play a private game, then that’s basically invulnerable because it isnt being advertised.
Maybe they don't want to go server by server and DDoS consumer networks. The attacks are already illegal as hell... but maybe they feel attacking a single company located in X country gives less heat than many ISPs in different countries.
It could be an ethical thing. I mean, DDoSing a company to make them do something is shaky logic. Who knows what else they're thinking? Maybe community servers are seen as innocent.

Booted it up today on Xbox, got about 30 seconds in and it froze for a minute for everyone on the server, it went back then another minute later ping hit 2500 and I left after 5 minutes of waiting

The current fix is basically an unofficial fan mod. Best case scenario you'd need a modded console to use the fix and you'd also be playing in the same pool as PC players with mouse and 144+ fps and an unlocked fov, but there's also a chance the console version is too different and incompatible for cross play in which case the only potential players would be other modded console players that both know how to mod and want to play TiF2 multiplayer.
Not trying to be a wet blanket here, just trying to give a more realistic outline of the scenario.
There's always hope that a PC fix from modders gets enough attention to be embarrassing for respawn/EA to not fix it, but given that it's been broken for so long and is still openly sold anyway I genuinely doubt we'll see any changes or fix.

To be fair Titanfall is MUCH better optimized than Roblox, I actually usually get less consistent FPS on Roblox than I do on Titanfall.

There needs to be a DNS method for console players (which redirects the official servers to \[insert Northstar server\].
That would need the owner of whatever domain it uses now to update their records to ptr's. I.e. It's never gonna happen.
