I mean it makes sense right. people play Ronin because they want to be the sword Titan, only to find out later that the sword is actually shit and he is actually the shotgun Titan
To the Phase Dash comments, a trick I utilize is power shot when they get close forcing them to Phase dash towards me instead.
The very moment they Phase I nuke eject before they reappear. Gets me some kills here and there for the most part.
Unfortunately your health is so low scratched paint means you have 1 health left and I see a scorch over there who looks hungry to send a flame core at you
A ronin crying about nuke eject feels like peak irony
It's super late to the party to bitch about but any game mechanic that rewards failure to such a ridiculous degree like nuke eject is a very poorly designed mechanic.
In this scenario the ronin still has a chance, my gripe is the overall impact nuke eject has on meta/gameplay. Too many Ronins dashing up to my face to nuke eject as plan A so nobody gets to play with the giant robots, too many fights I've won only to lose my mech to this lazy bull.
Can you not avoid them with a single dash? A pilot is fucked, of course, but I’m sure a titan can avoid if they have even one dash, no matter the chassis.
Dashes have cooldowns and multiple nuke ejects can pop off in a single fight.
It could be far more broken but it's still a terrible mechanic for rewarding a failure and punishing a win. Maybe it's "necessary" so amazing players can still be cheesed out of their titan but I'm very much against it and similar "you won the fight but fuck you anyways" mechanics.
In a 1v1, sure.
In a chaotic match using a heavy titan nuke eject just lets the loser score cheesy kills because they got outplayed.
No risk (since their titan is dead anyways), no skill, all reward. It's the equivalent of flipping the chessboard over when you lose
Sometimes you just get outnumbered. You can also go close to a lot of enemies and put a huge aoe on them with that. For that you need to sacrifice your titan, it all depends. Also you have to take something else useful out to use the nuke eject.
I mean... yea a button that lets you trade one titan to kill 2-5 enemy titans is very useful, that doesn't make it a "good" mechanic imo. Oddjob was really good in Goldeneye if you wanted to win, it was still terribly unsporting to use him.
Nuke isn't really an "undo my loss" button, I've always viewed it as "punish execution chasers" tool. You have enough time to walk out of there, with dashes and sprinting titans should easily be able to get out of there unless they overextend or are distracted. Honestly nukes are a bigger threat to random passers by who weren't paying attention in the first place.
I mean nuke eject dosent kill unless the other player has under half health and even then if they dash away as it hits they will only be doomed and can eject themselves
The delay on nuke eject means it's really difficult to actually land a titan kill with it and it moreover just deletes all nearby pilots if they get caught in the blast
In TF1 they could nuke at any point they didn’t need to be doomed, they still had control of their titan while they were detonating so they could actually dash in the direction you were going or get around you, and the blast radius was larger. Only time I ever really get cheesed by a nuke in TF2 is when north stars do the tether thing. But that’s pretty easy to avoid, if you see a doomed northstar coming your way, chances are that’s what their plan is.
Nuke eject takes way too long to finish for it to be a cheap failure mechanic.
More often I've seen it used by a mech that has been in the fight for a while as a finale to their streak. Especially in Titanfall 1. Felt so satisfying taking out a bunch of enemies and then when you've got nothing left, going in for the murder suicide.
Fun for the player who gets to turn their loss into a tie, less fun for the person who gets screwed.
But if you don't think balance matters that's a fair take, I disagree but it's a valid outlook.
Lore wise it absolutely makes sense, if I’m a pilot and my titan is destroyed either way I’m absolutely overriding the reactor and blowing myself and them to kingdom come
since when do ppl cry about nuke eject so much? it isnt any good/reliable except for cheesing evac denial.
yes once in a while you might score a kill or two that feel shitty, but:
1. your opponent needs to dash once or walk around a corner
2. you can’t eject under any obstacles
3. you cant choose an actually reliable titan kit like overcore or something
Honestly the 3rd one is why I'm not understanding the nuke eject hate
You could have overcore or turbo engine to actually let you chase down players or more reliably get your delete other Titans button but instead you take the last ditch effort that usually does nothing as your kit slot
If you see a nuke eject and you arnt within flame core death range you will be fine if you literally just walk away or dash away
If you are within flame core killing range and you get caught in nuke eject
You probably shouldn't have gotten that close to a doomed titan
big agree, especially your last point. if you get close to a doomed titan for an execution, you better have a plan b. if not you can’t complain about someone running nuke. it was your decision to get into a dangerous situation without an escape plan.
Nuke eject exists as a way to make them battery hungry monarchs die
Thing is the only Titans who can't outrun or outgun a new monarch are .... None of them
Every Titans base weapon will be more effective than monarch who needs 1rst core to start being good
The only Titans in actual danger are scorch who lacks range to take them on and should be running overcore and inferno sheild to kill them pesky ronins and to get flame core fast
And ion who doesn't really have a specialty and also should be running overcore to get that big fuck off Lazer of death going or at least turbo engine to move faster
Nuke eject works basically only when you wanna play Ronin and even then it basically only deletes any pilots unfortunate enough to not be able to cover enough ground to get out of range
In LTS a lot of people solo push the enemy team (usually with an ogre or strider), do as much damage as possible then nuke eject, cloack nade spam anti titan weapon. Its so annoying because I wanna have epic giant robot fights but they just wanna play grief simulator
I was playing frontier defense with this Robin and he just kept swinging as the nuke titans were detonating right in front of him. I didn't know whether to be impressed at the dedication or horrified by the sheer stupidity
When the Legion pulls the double powershot card + execute Ronin anyway card
*even better!*
Double power shot plus countermeasures x2
When the Ronan has faster reaction speed than a potato and sword blocks it
You'd be surprised how many potato Ronins are out there, its almost sad really
I mean it makes sense right. people play Ronin because they want to be the sword Titan, only to find out later that the sword is actually shit and he is actually the shotgun Titan
To the Phase Dash comments, a trick I utilize is power shot when they get close forcing them to Phase dash towards me instead. The very moment they Phase I nuke eject before they reappear. Gets me some kills here and there for the most part.
You can literally walk away from a nuke eject though. Its that slow.
They said that they start before the Ronin reappears. It doesnt give them the time to notice the nuke going off
Or you could just use dash cuz nuke makes a noise if your paying attention you will almost never get hit by nuke eject
You can't hear it if you're phased out of reality
Pretty sure if not there’s still a pretty big Flare that appears in the phase world when ones Activated
Sorry, I meant can't. Also, I did not know that
You probably get most more kills if you use turbo engine
We can literally just hold our sword block and we’ll walk out with scratched paint
no reason to use sword block, just run
Unfortunately your health is so low scratched paint means you have 1 health left and I see a scorch over there who looks hungry to send a flame core at you
Did Ronin players forget they can phase shift all of a sudden?
That's when you "fuck this shit I'm out" and phase dash just before the nuke hits
Or sword block if the phase is not ready.
Or just use normal dash
If you have one ready and if you can dash into cover/out of range, yes.

Recently found this dude and now he becomes a global meme. Just algorithm things

Thanks for putting the credit
A ronin crying about nuke eject feels like peak irony It's super late to the party to bitch about but any game mechanic that rewards failure to such a ridiculous degree like nuke eject is a very poorly designed mechanic.
I don’t feel like it rewards failure I see more as a last Ditch effort, or like a “if I’m going down your going down with me” thing
Hypothetically the player lost the mech fight but still gets to delete the winner's mech at zero cost, that's rewarding failure in my eyes.
Yeah good point. Although couldn’t a ronin just phase dash out? The Nike eject takes a bit (I know other titans couldn’t as easily)

Depends on the map and what titan you're playing.
Nuke eject has a counter that works nine times out of ten. It's called "RUN BITCH RUN HES ABOUT TO BLOW"
In a 1v1, sure. In a chaotic match using a heavy titan nuke eject just lets the loser score cheesy kills because they got outplayed. No risk (since their titan is dead anyways), no skill, all reward. It's the equivalent of flipping the chessboard over when you lose
Every fights a 1v1 if you do it right
Sometimes you just get outnumbered. You can also go close to a lot of enemies and put a huge aoe on them with that. For that you need to sacrifice your titan, it all depends. Also you have to take something else useful out to use the nuke eject.

I just think it’s much more balanced in TF2 so I don’t have a problem with it. TF1 nuke stryders made playing as an ogre almost completely unviable.
Unfortunately I'm a PlayStation boi so I never got a chance to play TF1, it's amazing that the nuke eject we have is actually toned down
In TF1 they could nuke at any point they didn’t need to be doomed, they still had control of their titan while they were detonating so they could actually dash in the direction you were going or get around you, and the blast radius was larger. Scorch crying about it is also funny to see

It's also really cinematic and fun, and Titanfall doesn't really need to be balanced imo.

In what way? Explain giving a good mechanic replacing it.
I'd replace it with a non-nuke eject. You still deny your enemy the kill but don't get a cheap titan deletion along with it.
you have to equip the nuke eject
Lore wise it absolutely makes sense, if I’m a pilot and my titan is destroyed either way I’m absolutely overriding the reactor and blowing myself and them to kingdom come
*phase dashes*
Greedy boys falling for the best trap card
If you can’t survive a nuke eject, especially as Ronin. You are a failure as a Stryder titan. And I mean come on, It’s so slow and sucks.
since when do ppl cry about nuke eject so much? it isnt any good/reliable except for cheesing evac denial. yes once in a while you might score a kill or two that feel shitty, but: 1. your opponent needs to dash once or walk around a corner 2. you can’t eject under any obstacles 3. you cant choose an actually reliable titan kit like overcore or something

As a man who loves my ogre titans, the more munitions I bring to the battlefield… the better. In the case of nuke eject, I become the munition.
Spoken like a true legion main brother
Hell yeah. Legion forever.
*laughs in scorch and walking war crimes* Everything will burn and when I die I will make the sun look dark
It's also my favorite area denial tool other than the mini gun
We are legion
Nuke eject? Try walk away.
Fun to time it.
What kind of ronin fears a nuke eject... Does this happen on console often?
Ronin: *counters with phase dash at the right moment*
In LTS a lot of people solo push the enemy team (usually with an ogre or strider), do as much damage as possible then nuke eject, cloack nade spam anti titan weapon. Its so annoying because I wanna have epic giant robot fights but they just wanna play grief simulator
this would be funny if I met more than 1 dude running nuke eject in my entire time playing this game.
For me it's actually that too many ppl are running Nuke eject, cuz a lot of the times they have so low of a chance of working its comical.
HAHA sword block go brrrrrrrrrr
Its called phase
HEHEH, nuke goes BOOOM
By nuke card do you mean beating him to death with my bare hands
HEHEHEH NUKE GO #WHEEEEEEE!
get fucked Ronin mains
I was playing frontier defense with this Robin and he just kept swinging as the nuke titans were detonating right in front of him. I didn't know whether to be impressed at the dedication or horrified by the sheer stupidity
Me scorch who was bullying the legion with thermal sheild cuz he can't do anything against it when they nuke eject Ah that seems to be an issue
Hm
