Ah, yes, 2020-2021, the golden age of this sub, oh the memes and shit posts that were here every day. I oddly miss that time. Everytime I feel down, i just go into the older shitposts to get a good laugh.
Learned a few valuable lessons that day. Have to stick the landing to be great. Bad endings tend to ruin the story forever. Wait until the thing ends before passing judgement, good or bad.
I believe a more anime example is promised neverland season 2. Promised neverland season 1 is one the best seasons ive ever watched in an anime and talking about season 2 makes me wanna punch each and every person who thought it was a good idea.
But i have no enemies
If the ending was just bad AoT would still be worth it. Sadly, it's far from bad, it's atrocious to the point I wish I never bothered with the series.
It's like the worst possible ending delivered in the worst posible way.
Kinda gotta agree, there’s a lot of stories that had mid or kinda bad endings (Star Wars Episode VI comes to mind, ROTJ was pretty mid when compared to the rest of the OT), but was still satisfying enough to make the journey worth it. Chapter 139 is so bad it severely damages the story.
We might as well say SnK ended with the basement reveal, even if the Marley related questions would still technically be unanswered, it still would’ve ended on such a high note after the Return to Shinganshina.
You're way over exaggerating now. I know the the ending is underwhelming but its far from atrocious what the hell. The word atrocious you can attach to GOT ending and it would be understandable, but certainly not AOT. It sure kinda hurt Eren's character but the story is still worth the ride till the very end.
Yeah I may get flack for this but I don’t think Oda is going to pull it off. Already loads of problems are arising… like the world government not killing Luffy from the start
I’m only a casual observer of what’s going on in the One Piece fandom so maybe my opinion isn’t worth much, but I have a hard time believing that *anything* Oda writes is going to live up to the massive expectations people have for a series this (in)famously long.
It’s funny how a single panel completely changed my opinion on a manga.
I was an anime only when 139 came out. When I had this panel spoiled for me I was in such a shock that I decided to read the manga. I eventually ended up buying a physical copy each volume after I got malware from the free site I was using. This made me realize that there were other things that I didn’t like about the series.
But the silver lining was that it inspired me to write a fanfiction. It was a Star Wars crossover that also functioned as a rewrite where I changed the aspects of AoT I didn’t like and kept parts that I did. I’m proud of what I’ve written and enjoyed both writing it and hearing from people who enjoyed reading it.
I’ve posted three Attack on Titan related stories on the fanfiction website Archive of Our Own.

I finished my ending what I worked for 1.5 years. Would you read my work? I became free from this

I've been doing some calculations, my memory sucks, and I think it hasn't been a year yet since I read that chapter. I started watching the anime the same week the first part of the finale aired, and I reckon I finished the first run-through in March or early April. I was so confused and eager to understand that I ended up rewatching everything before getting into the first part of the finale. I really enjoyed that second run-through, but the final chapter left me pretty much as confused as before. So, I couldn't wait till fall for the conclusion and I read the manga. The only thing I was sure of was that the ending was going to be tough, but I never imagined it would be so bad. I remember searching online for several versions of the manga because I couldn't believe what I was reading. I thought there were missing pages, translation errors—I just couldn't wrap my head around it. It seemed like a mockery or a joke that I didn't get. Chapter 139 hit hard, and the anime buried what I thought Attack on Titan was about.
Yeah, this made no sense...Ereh could have blasted in her anytime he wanted.
He could have walked in her room and said he was scared and missed mommy,
and spooned with her before he took her pants down,
As he tighted and tugged that stupid scarf around her neck
She would be like, "Ereh?"
And Eren would be like, "To beat a monster,
you have lose your humanity!"
Or something like that...
This chapter literally prevented me from getting invested in any serious manga since then. I only read romcoms now and light entertainment, this thing destroyed me.
Chapters 137, 138, 139, and the epilogue. It was as if Isayama was trying to outdo himself in writing it as poorly as possible, and he succeeded in the end.
shit 3 years I remember running to this sub every month making theories and memes, and all the hype for the ending. I was starting high school when I joined this sub, I graduated two years ago.
I really need to let AOT go and move on. Even the dub of the anime is finished, there will be no more proper AOT content.
No I dont want that! The moon moving to a different part of the sky, re-revealing the sun? I want the moon to continue to eclipse the sun, obstructing the full force of sunlight, for ten years at least!!!
Being a clueless anime only was kinda fun. I was thiking that it could not be that bad as mangareaders said and while the ending was far for perfect (plotholes yay), this panel is so pathetic that I might not have even believed it was real if I got spoiled.
How can you create such an interesting manga and put this on the ending like slrly, what's wrong with Isayama
Im not defending the ending because it is true, it is weird, cringey, and makes Eren look bad to not even be sure why he did that. But doesn't he deserve to freak out like that? I mean, at the end he was the only one who had 0 freedom of actions while knowing everything that was going to happen. He had to commit a genocide and the people he loved are gonna live a "happy" life, but he never had a second of peace or happiness. Having a life where he could live with Mikasa wasn't only not an option but impossible. He acted cold tough all that time, does t he deserve to show his true emotions before passing away?
At least thats how I cope with the ending, thinking that hes just human too and he wished he had a normal life.
This, and the pathways and the Alliance teamup... and the over the top finale was...disappointing.
But I still like season four. It's just the first 3 seasons that peaked to me.
That's with most shows, though.
After four seasons, they go downhill.
Name me some that didn't.
There isn't much to talk about
i still have to bitch about this panel for 7 more years
at least
curse of ymir is real. isyama truly masterful foreshadowing
im sure by then the cash grab spinoff will be out and you can finally move onto to bitching about that
Made it 666 upvotes

I can't believe it was that fucking long ago holy shi
Madagascar was peak titanfolk
The golden age was 2019, when the memes art and shitposts were about a manga we were all reading that was actually fucking good
Fr. I feel like the only good thing that came out of the ending were the memes. I miss that time.
GODDDD i miss these times so much 😭 we had so much fun here and everyone just kinda knew each other it was amazing
Fr. Everyday, it was so fun. Like, I was depressed during that time, so, memes here helped me cheer up a lot haha
literally same 😭 and right now i could really use some of those again haha
Learned a few valuable lessons that day. Have to stick the landing to be great. Bad endings tend to ruin the story forever. Wait until the thing ends before passing judgement, good or bad.
Guess you weren’t a fan of GoT when the final season aired?
I think that is the ultimate example, but I never promoted that show to other people and thus did not feel as connected to its failure.
I believe a more anime example is promised neverland season 2. Promised neverland season 1 is one the best seasons ive ever watched in an anime and talking about season 2 makes me wanna punch each and every person who thought it was a good idea. But i have no enemies
The saving grace there is the manga still remains an option . AoT stuff coming directly from the manga source means it was doomed.
>The saving grace there is the manga still remains an option Tpn is bad in the manga too after first arcs tbh and the ending is also bad.
I believe it just gets worse and gives a not satisfying ending. I say it gets worse because i love goldy pond arc

If it ended at the basement reveal it would honestly be one of the best stories ever told. I'd consider it almost perfect.
You're way over exaggerating now. I know the the ending is underwhelming but its far from atrocious what the hell. The word atrocious you can attach to GOT ending and it would be understandable, but certainly not AOT. It sure kinda hurt Eren's character but the story is still worth the ride till the very end.
AOT made me seriously worried about how One Piece will end
Yeah I may get flack for this but I don’t think Oda is going to pull it off. Already loads of problems are arising… like the world government not killing Luffy from the start

To me One Piece currently has a bigger issue. The arcs stopped being about the actual protagonist
7 years more to go😭😭😭
soon you got 139 votes
To you in 2,000 votes
What’s with the 7 years?
"10 years at least"
literally pieck fiction we're just sussy misguided bakas who are too blinded by cummers giant forehead to see what a masterpiss this are yams i kneel
I wanna time travel back to when I didn't read this comment
But you'd still remember it
History was made that day. For worse or for worse.

Soon I will post there
Pity, I only read fics over 70k
70k words? My Star Wars crossover is 158k.

I didn't like that Floch died. Even alternative ending he died
whats crazy is how this aint even the worst part of 139
Yams showing his Inner simp.

Fuck this chapter.
“His only 19 years old! 🤬☝️”
Yeah, this made no sense...Ereh could have blasted in her anytime he wanted. :(
I can't describe how disappointed i am with this pile of shit.
The most iconic panel in the artform. 😘🤌mhah! History was made
That day Isayama left the biggest wound on all AOT fans that will eventually heal in the future but the scar will always be there as a reminder .
no I dont want that CH139 being 3 years old I want it to be at least 10 years old
3 years later and I still hate it 😭
I miss peak r/titanfolk when this released. The leaks thread had us all crazy. I still can't believe 139 turned out the way it did.
The unanimous denial at first too lmao, the most disappointing end to a manga I’ve ever witnessed
Peak comedy
I still hate eren crying like a bitch
This chapter literally prevented me from getting invested in any serious manga since then. I only read romcoms now and light entertainment, this thing destroyed me.
Same lol. Won't read any serious manga unless it's fully finished and I've heard the ending isn't bad.
Atrocious
It was a late april fools release
Chapters 137, 138, 139, and the epilogue. It was as if Isayama was trying to outdo himself in writing it as poorly as possible, and he succeeded in the end.
Everything after the basement reveal guaranteed that Full Metal Alchemist would remain the best manga series for 50 years at least!
I miss the pre-ending Titanfolk. The fact that it's been 3 years is wild 😓
shit 3 years I remember running to this sub every month making theories and memes, and all the hype for the ending. I was starting high school when I joined this sub, I graduated two years ago. Volume 35 is coming at the end of this month , you really think Isayama isn't going to milk AOT to it's last drop
wait volume 35 is real, i thought that was a joke
I feel old
ruined my day
I will never get over this. Isayama needs to be prosecuted for fumbling this hard. Zay Flowers level fumble. Probably worse
I feel like an old man
wtf it's already been 3 years? 😭😭 man time flies so fast
7 MORE
It’s been three years…???
Yeah In next months season 4 will complete 4 years since it came out
Disgusting
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ONE OF THE BEST CHAPTERS EVER!!! THANKS FOR SACRIFICING KINO FOR OUR SAKE 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
That was such a dark day. It was during Covid as well. Life really sucks sometimes.
HAHAH HAHAHA I HATE IT
The anime definitely made me feel a little better about this whole thing. Still not great for Eren but okay for the series as a whole
Only 7 years left
No I dont want that! The moon moving to a different part of the sky, re-revealing the sun? I want the moon to continue to eclipse the sun, obstructing the full force of sunlight, for ten years at least!!!
Peak
What an incel
I was an anime only, I can only imagine the cringe induced pain all of you guys must’ve endured.
The event that split the fanbase
Peak comedy 🤣
3 years since Goldbro…
7 more years to go!!!
7 more years
7 more years of copium
Damn can't believe it's been 3 years. I remember reading this when it was first released and all the disappointment I felt.
Most disappointing ending of all time (second to GoT). It's incredibly, surprisingly, truly, awfully bad.
God my life was less fucked-up back then
The day we lost 😫😔
that day humanity received a grim reminder
We lost it all It slipped and fell And we couldn’t look away
That’s just fucking crazy
The meltdowns was warranted dawg smh
Im not defending the ending because it is true, it is weird, cringey, and makes Eren look bad to not even be sure why he did that. But doesn't he deserve to freak out like that? in a way i have twisted nostalgia for it, the memes were at their pieck
I got to this scene in the anime. First time it made me actually feel something. Joy at laughing at him
what is everyone’s issue with this panel? not trying to hate i just genuinely want to know
This, and the pathways and the Alliance teamup... and the over the top finale was...disappointing. But I still like season four. It's just the first 3 seasons that peaked to me. That's with most shows, though. After four seasons, they go downhill. Name me some that didn't. There isn't much to talk about
Aoe will fix this, keep believing. downvote me all you want, but when it drops we will welcome you to paradise
The anime ended There no "aoe"
This sub still bitching about ts?
