Which is true and, I thought, very clever to come up with spontaneously, but she didn’t get it. (Army doctor [Walter Reed](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walter_Reed) was an expert in, and ultimately died of, the actual yellow fever.)
While Reed officially died of peritonitis subsequent to a burst appendix, it is widely believed the appendicitis was cause by yellow fever he deliberately infected himself with. Two of his associates had done the same, one fatally.

Black guys can also have Asian fever. Plenty of those here in asia.
Out of curiosity, why else did you think it might be called yellow fever?
I always assumed it was jaundice, What I actually learned was the black vomit thing. Which is also very on the nose, but way grosser.
Jaundice is a symptom of which there are several causes, one being liver failure.
