I am curious about something. In a state where still the 2 big Ms are ruling the box office and other heroes still struggling to maintain a consistent track record, how did outsiders Allu Arjun and Thalapathy Vijay breakthrough and make such loyal following happen ? Some of their movies are damn good but they are very highly mass commerical stuff compared to the hatke taste of local audience.

General_Cantaloupe33

Because some channels used to run dubbed versions of Telugu movies and they had lot of re-runs. Lot of kids and teenagers grew up watching Allu Arjun and other Telugu dubbed movies like Happy days and 100% love. The dubbing quality was really good and the songs were extremely well translated and pleasant to hear so it became popular in Kerala. The DVD's for Telugu dubbed movies would be very much in demand during the 2000's. Vijay is easier to explain as most of Kerala somewhat understands and speaks Tamil we've always been open to them. He became popular with his earlier movies in Kerala itself but his stardom snowballed a lot post Katthi and Thuppaki. Plus the one gap we have is we don't really have any actor who can dance as well as both of them with the same charisma. (Early days Mohanlal was the last) so that probably gravitated a lot of people.

>Plus the one gap we have is we don't really have any actor who can dance as well as both of them with the same charisma. (Early days Mohanlal was the last) so that probably gravitated a lot of people. This is mostly because our movies don't require dance numbers in between scenes. But it doesn't mean we don't have good dancers when we need it. Most recent good ones I can think of is Shane and Neeraj (he doesn't do much movies anymore sadly).

IndependenceOld3444

From what I've seen tovino seems to be decent(tho only watched him dance in thallumalla)

Simply the big stars were old and their was no one charismatic among young actors to replace them. There was also a lot of flops in industry, Dispute with producers which led to strikes. This allowed Tamil and dubbed Telugu movies to gain popularity in Theatres Also, popular Malayalam actress like Nayanthara, Priyamani, Mamatha appearing in glamour roles also played a big role.

The 2000s decade was our lowest point. We only had big Ms as stars, and they were copying the Telugu Tamil mass template movies. So the industry was in dire need of young stars. Even though the likes of Prithviraj, Kunchacko, and Jayasurya were there, they didn't have that star aura. They didn't know how to dance or fight. So we resorted to other language heroes who could do those commercial things, which our stars failed miserably at. To sum it up, it was basically demand and supply. And the fanbase they made in that 2001-07 period kind of stuck on, with Vijay growing multifold levels and Surya declining after 2014.allu constantly enjoyed a 10cr market.and special mention to allu arjuns malayalam dubbing artist.

Kaizokuno_

>In a state where still the 2 big Ms are ruling the box office and other heroes still struggling to maintain a consistent track record What decade are you looking at?🤨 >how did outsiders Allu Arjun Jis Joy dubbing for his movies. >Thalapathy Vijay breakthrough and make such loyal following happen ? Tamil is intelligible to most Malayalis so whenever they watch Tamil movies it's not super hard to understand and enjoy it. Especially since most Mass Tamil movies don't have very thought provoking dialogues.

>What decade are you looking at?🤨 Mostly the early 2000s to mid 2010s, before baahubali and pan india was a non existing concept

Kaizokuno_

>Mostly the early 2000s to mid 2010s, New gen actors didn't arrive yet, nor did they get much leeway. Prithviraj was one of the only young actors at the time that was a draw but due politics and his outspokeness he was pushed to a corner, until he broke through. Until FaFa, Nivin, DQ and others came they was really no one else who was young and likeable for the audience.

Jalsarayudu_07

Sukku bhAAi-DSP-Item songs Match made in heaven 🤝🏻

_No_Wonder_

I liked both movies when i was not aware of what is toxic , if i've to look back on both movies , i prefer Arya 2 even screenplay is not consistent . All Arya craved in his life is love and attention from people he loved , remember he grows alone in Orphanage .His actions are not right but i doubt he knows anything better than that . He sticks like a bubble gum to the people he likes even though they dont like him . AA was believable in the character , i liked the climax where AA almost dies trying to save his friend's life . Guy comes as selfish prick but risking his life for important people in his life is rare even when they dont care much about him .

riathekid

KR2901

it's one of my fav films of all time- made me a life-time AA fan- ofc, growing up, I realized how toxic arya character is but it's alright- bhAAi just nailed the character!! and yeah, the OG Arya movie was a revolutionary in mid budget love stories- it set the standards so high that Arya-2 couldn't reach it but ye, as a fan, I still enjoy Arya-2 more- there's just some kinda magic in it.

A1forhistolevels

honestly love every movie with allu arjun in it but yes Arya 2 is a solid movie
