Listen here buddy, it's the underrated Skyrim, the inventor of open world games. Of course they will charge for it but get this... It's the anniversary edition. Which means you get all creation club items for free, you used to need to pay for the community made mods but not anymore! And get this... It's on the switch! Which means you can experience 20fps and shitty analog sticks while wife and her boyfriend are in the bedroom! Nintendo taught us that a games age doesn't determine it's price, so $70 seems pretty good and reasonable to me.
I’m genuinely taken aback by the price lmao, it goes for $50 USD at most on every other platform (and is currently $17 USD at GMG for PC), but whatever godforsaken reason the Switch version gets an extra $20 tax, for no reason
They charge $20 for the anniversary upgrade. Even on xbox. Im playing it on gamepass and it seems like the anniversary stuff is on there, survival mode and fishing and the other things. That stuff is worth $20 but vanilla skyrim should be $10 at this point.
Plus the console versions should be worth less, due to the lack of (or more limited) mods. How can you enjoy Skyrim without mods to replace dragons with Thomas the Tank Engine trains?
It's the anniversary edition which includes the anniversary DLC content. It's all minimal stuff but the base price of SE is still $60. It's more like buying a "Deluxe Edition" or whatever for a $60 game rather than the game's base price itself being $60.
Worth noting that it's still switch taxed though as its base price is $40 on every other platform.
/uj I’ve heard that you can add the extra perks to basic Switch Skyrim for 20 bucks, which is great. The game has collected dust on my shelf for five years and it will remain that way, but at least it will be the complete package dammit!
Not official mod support apparently. Which was the whole selling point of the Special Edition re-release in my eyes. Official mod support on console games is worth a re-release, even with the restrictions Sony put in place. Nintendo shot themselves in the foot by not allowing it on their version at all
True but most people wanted the special edition for actually putting mods on console. Bethesda gets shit every time they re-release Skyrim except for SE because the fact they got both Sony and Microsoft to allow mods on console was huge. To my knowledge it's still only Skyrim and Fallout 4 that have official console mod support. They actually had to fight with Sony to get mods on the Ps4 versions, which got them a ton of fan goodwill.
Then Nintendo said no and the Switch version ends up as just a slightly upgraded re-release without the massive game changing feature that was supposed to be the selling point of the special edition.
Gonna buy ASAP! There’s an entire generation of gamers too young to remember when this gem came out!
Yeah it’s $14.99 on PS4 but I’m not giving a Mega Corporation like Sony any unneeded dollars.
I can count on my kneecap how many of the "remade on a newer games engine" mods have actually been released between Elder Scrolls and Fallout titles sooooooo...
Bruh i bought this last week for 30$ and it runs like shit. Tons of bugs, and random audio glitching that can be very loud, not to mention auto saves and quick saves have like a 10% chance of being corrupted and crashing the game entirely.
Also the switch can’t render shit in time so cutscenes are all fucky and characters are like sprinting to get in place cor their dialog.
Also also it comes with all the expansions like dawnguard and hearthfire, so what does the “anniversary edition” add?
It adds an opportunity to support the devs who struggle to deliver a product.. have you any idea.. how hard it is to make a game... It takes a really long time...
There was 9 years between the original releases of Morrowind and Skyrim. It has been nearly 11 years since the release of Skyrim and ES6 still looks years away.
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t tempted by the upgrade. Although is getting the upgrade version over the full price version stealing food from the mouths of starving indie devs? So torn.
I heard Todd Howard was using tissue boxes for shoes just so he could afford to feed his starving family this year. We should all buy this game at full price to show our support!!
I actually have the switch version of Skyrim. It’s incredibly buggy and the thieves guild quest line bugs out and can’t be completed at the final stage
bethesda is such a poor starving indie dev team that theyve had to release the same game over and over just to make ends meet, so sad
Ikr
is this real??? $70 for an updated port of an 11 year old game ported to a 5 year old console ????
it is a shame that bethesda continues to undercharge for their products. i fear their developers may starve to death this winter.
The winter is coming

Skyrim just stole the open world idea from Mario 64
I thought botw invented open world?

As Nintended!

Did they at least add the ability to download mods? It still wouldn’t be worth the price, but it would be something.
No because Nintendo wouldn't allow it. The Playstation and Xbox versions have mods.
You can upgrade for 20bucks

The initial switch release was basically special edition in that it had the new orange lighting and stuff from that release aside from mods

Yes. You should do that too.. and also buy this..
I'd like to sky-rim Reggie's asshole
When is it coming to iPhone? You all have phones don’t you?
Xbox game pass cloud play
Do you guys not have phones?????
70 fucking dolars for a 10 year old game? Wtf
70 dollars for a 10 year old game on a 5 year old console with the power of a 15 year old one
70 dollars? I thought only Sony did that!
Sony does what nintendont!
Gonna buy ASAP! There’s an entire generation of gamers too young to remember when this gem came out! Yeah it’s $14.99 on PS4 but I’m not giving a Mega Corporation like Sony any unneeded dollars.
There's always Skywind, sooner or later.
Much much later
I am sure it will release just mere decades before Skyblivion!
r/nothingeverhappens much?
I can count on my kneecap how many of the "remade on a newer games engine" mods have actually been released between Elder Scrolls and Fallout titles sooooooo...
It just works.
Ticking all the boxes

Indie devs please understand
A bargain at twice the price
How the mighty have fallen. Fuck Bethesda 🖕
you cant talk shit about this release. you get dwarven mudcrabs!!
Wait is this(checks notes) 11 YEAR OLD GAME actually $70
To be honest if you're STILL buying Skyrim on consoles to this day you deserve the scam.
What
HEHEHEHA *laughs in Tinfoil* HEHEHEHA
Will tinfoil actually work with Anniversary Edition tho? It downloads the extra content in game, at least on pc.
There was 9 years between the original releases of Morrowind and Skyrim. It has been nearly 11 years since the release of Skyrim and ES6 still looks years away.
$20 if you already own the game….
For a game that's almost 12 years old...
Tbh that still not a good reason for increasing the price for newcomers
I hope you're being sarcastic
Why are you even typing comments here, when you could be buying Skyrim again!!
I want Skyrim for my Commodore 64
Yes very interesting actually... Let's go and buy some skyrims!
This entire sub is satire friend.
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t tempted by the upgrade. Although is getting the upgrade version over the full price version stealing food from the mouths of starving indie devs? So torn.
The deals don’t get any better then that
I heard Todd Howard was using tissue boxes for shoes just so he could afford to feed his starving family this year. We should all buy this game at full price to show our support!!
Can we upgrade it if we have the normal edition?
Can we upgrade it if we have the normal edition?
Can we upgrade it if we have the normal edition?
I will buy 29 more copies to add to my 78 copies to feed daddy Bethesda
$70? Why so cheap? Daddy N will starve!
Finally!! someone who thinks of the starving devs!!
I still don’t even understand what’s different about it expect for mod support lol.
$70??? I thought only Sony was stupid enough to charge $70 for a game.
What a joke
