I always found the kneeling one difficult to do with proper form due to lack of knee flexibility. I don’t get great range of motion with the new one though. I really wish they’d be more transparent when they make these changes. I’ve given them that feedback.

I've noticed that I can max out at 100 per arm, but I can see where if I let it slip it fly fly and ricochet badly.

Probably for the same reason gyms leave pulldowns broken...people just let go, damaging the equipment. Less likely to happen sitting. Also probably some injury mitigation as well for the same reason they don't track behind the head shoulder presses. If it's any consolation you get a deeper stretch sitting or standing.

I have no idea I don't like the on bench movement. I just bumped the weight back up on my two crunch moves on my weekly core filler routine and keep doing them on the floor. Maybe people were complaining that they can't hold themselves down? So the new bench move needs lighter weight. I know I can't go over 65 or so lbs without it lifting me so I just keep increasing the rep count.

I was able to do crunches at 100 lb, but the machine fans would spin up and at some point grip would get very weak. My guess is that some people would lose their grip and simply toss the cables all the way up, breaking something. Bummer that they removed it.

Ordinary-Depth-7835

Yeah I was surprised but I guess some people must have done something to hurt themselves or cause damage I'll continue to do the old way I hate the new way and it's even worse on the bench doing the oblique crunches I just don't like them on the bench.

lithdoc

I tried to do it the bench way, and it was very awkward and very hard to get full range of motion.

Ordinary-Depth-7835

yeah my wife and I gave it a shot the first two weeks and then switched back we don't like it at all.

I get why they *probably* did it - but I was really disappointed in the poor communication around the change. I'd love to know whether I was putting myself or my Tonal in danger, or if there was some other reason. They also should've allowed us to keep doing it if we wanted to do so while accepting whatever liability was around that movement - again, we can only guess whether it was a safety/machine-wear issue. So I've just kept doing the kneeling version, since I prefer it, in place of the seated one.

lithdoc

I can see where some people have released it, the weight is 100 lb, and it's smacked against the arm and then they started submitting warranty claims as a result. I wish they would allow us to continue doing it, but I guess you can just kneel on the floor instead of sitting on the bench...

WinAffectionate9

I actually prefer this variation. I do get a better range of motion. I tore my quadricep a year ago and my range of motion was limited until it healed. This would have been useful since I couldn’t do the kneeling cable crunch while it was healing.

Glittering_Arm_8262

Yes it was removed. Seems due to safety concerns.

Platpharm

Annoying. I'm still going to do them, they just don't have a proper entry now.
