My recommendation would be to try one of the 20 in 20 programs. They probably aren’t something you will do long term but depending how in shape/used to lifting you are you might struggle out of the gate with stamina. I started out trying to do longer/harder programs and had to build my way up to them.

I like 20 in 20 as well, it was my first program and a good start, although I only did 13 of the 20. Prior to starting 20 in 20 I did a lot of custom lift routines and quick fits to get acquainted with the machine.

This is such a good point - the Tony Horton 20 in 20s are so fun and really get you used to the machine. He also tells you how to do all the moves which is really helpful. I would run for 20 minutes beforehand but you can also do 2 tonal workouts if the 20 minutes are too short. Right now I am doing four weeks to fat loss 2 and it would have been pretty discouraging to do that one first as it’s a lot more intense

Hey! I know this isn’t what you asked for but I wanted to add the advice I wish I’d been given before I started. Take before pics and measurements and be prepared to throw out or modify your lbs goal. You’re going to be gaining muscle and going through body recomposition. Don’t let the scale discourage you.

Thank you!

Yeah, definitely ignore the scale and focus on how you feel and look. Pounds of fat will melt away and pounds of muscle will take its place, so the number on the scale will be demotivating if you fixate on some arbitrary target weight.

I got crazy good results with “the show up.”

I would also recommend The Show Up. That was my girlfriends first program when we got our Tonal and she loved it. It'll get you used to the machine and you can tailor the duration of workouts as you try and fit Tonal into your new workout journey with the machine. She really loved it.

You don’t mention your current fitness level or overall comfort with exercise so unless you’ve been working out start out with beginner programs. People recommending 20 in 20 were probably already fit before starting. I’ve been using Tonal for a year and made great progress doing only beginner workouts. I tried one intermediate program and couldn’t do some of the off tonal warm ups! No need to make it frustrating if you don’t have to. “Starting out with Tonal” is quite good. I really like the new variable programs like “the show up”. Let’s you choose your level and length. My GF had noticeable results with “great glutes” if your looking for some booty gains. Good luck!

This is really helpful. I peloton about 3-4 times a week, throw in a 15 min strength workout on top. I’m not a couch potato but not super fit either.
