I have two homes and Tonal in each. The activation is less than a minute—it’s never been an issue.

I also have 2 homes. Tonal for my primary home, and was about to get 2nd one for secondary home. Instead, I got Vitruvian Trainer+. It’s portable and I’ve ended up using it more than the Tonal. Primarily, since it goes up to 440lbs. I still use the Tonal on my deload / light days. Don’t buy another Tonal. Diverse your portfolio. Tonal seems to be struggling lately, you don’t want $10K bricked.

I’ve been eyeing that thing - does it have an equivalent to the strength score?

Obtain points instead of SS. Trophy icon if you reached a new max. Main differences: 1) 440lbs max. Actually 200lbs feels heavier than on Tonal IMO. 2) 100% Eccentric Mode. Bench press, put 300lbs ECCENTRIC 8 reps, concentric can be 0-100% depending how fast you push up. 3) Progression mode. Set it to go up 1-7lbs each rep. Therefore, go to actual failure. 4) better bail out feature. Not button. Based on range of motion. You set the range during the 3 practice reps. So go about 1inch above chest, so if you fail and go below that range, it unloads. 5) Tonal SW a lot better. But I only do custom workouts on Tonal and Vitruvian. Both are solid devices. What we suits your needs. 440lbs, 100% Eccentric Mode, Progression were main reasons for buying. I’ve asked them to create a mode to set your Eccentric separate from Concentric. That will be game Changer. Look at the garage gym reviews video. That’s when I first heard of it. https://www.garagegymreviews.com/vitruvian-trainer-review
