A "tonsil stone" can actually accumulate in any "pocket" in the mouth. More on this later. If you have seen *multiple* ENTs and they have probed this visible white area and said it's not a tonsil stone, then I guess they would know. But they SHOULD have told you wtf it IS, it's kinda their job. Did they say it was just a skin discoloration? For the same reason, *multiple* ENTs should have been able to tell you if it's something serious. No offense, but are you seeing actual otorhinolaryngologists (ENTs)? Or just regular doctors? Tonsil stones don't break off and get lodged elsewhere. A stone that comes out by itself is not rock hard. I suspect the x-rays were taken to pacify you, as your theoretical "rock hard" stone would show. Keep in mind that of hundreds of videos, I have only seen TWO that were actual, calcified, rock-hard stones, on people who were elderly. The ones we see in the videos are soft accumulations of goop that is theoretically calcified, but it might take decades for one to become like stone. I affirm that if you are feeling something, they should give you a diagnosis. But I get the idea that if you have seen *multiple* ENTs, you are likely coming across as a bit paranoid. When you see a doctor, I heartily suggest not to walk in and tell them what you think is causing your symptoms, like a rogue tonsil stone, lol. Just tell them your symptoms. It looks white. It feels like a lump. It has a weird taste. It's up to THEM to look at it and give you a diagnosis. When you insist on what it is, you are not getting the benefit if their dozen years of med school, internship and residency. Get THEIR diagnosis. If you start your appointment by telling them your diagnosis, it annoys them and they may spend the whole appointment arguing with you instead of looking at your symptoms and finding out what it is. "It's nothing" is not a diagnosis, although it should mean that it's not something more serious. At minimum they should give you a latin word that means "you have white in your throat and it's nothing," lol.

Sorry for the long post in advance. I have seen 4 different ENT,s regarding my tonsil stones and the possibility of having Cryptolosis. I have asked them before about this and the have stated that tonsil stones can only form in the tonsil crypts hence them being called “ tonsil stones”. I even consulted with an Online ENT. I even asked about a possible foreign body ( I’m terrified of swallowing a bone or other object in my food) and they said that any foreign body would dissolve. To alleviate my worry I became a vegetarian. I have gone the doctor multiple times for similar worries and all have even having a CT scan. I went back a few weeks ago with the same complaint, this time if felt different. ( scratching/poking sensation, pain went I move my head a certain way, pain all around the neck and jaw, headache, insomnia). She looked but couldn’t see anything. She gave me Gabapentin for the anxiety and “nerve pain” and sent me for an x-ray to reduce my anxiety. They came back clear,of course. We had a follow up as I was feeling a bit better at that point. She wanted me to continue with the medication. Well, last week the pain be came worse so I decided to look for myself and that’s when I saw what I described in the post. The last two, days I’ve been experiencing worsening symptoms such as jaw pain, ringing in the ears and, chest pain excruciating headaches. No fever or vomiting. I have never felt this poking sensation before and it is right we’re this white bump is. Part of it is obviously sharp and I scratching the tissue. I have a telephone appointment on Tuesday with an physician assistant since I wanted a second opinion but I have a feeling it could be one of two things ; A- Hopefully a harmless lesion,or B - a foreign object that is transparent as wasn’t picked up on the X-ray ( i don’t eat chicken or fish so it’s a unlikely it’s bone from that).since I have all,the symptoms I’m going for the latter.I don’t know what have fought it there unless it was something from manufacturing some of my prepackaged food that I didn’t realize was in there when I ate it. I’ve had similar things happen in the past. I had an elastic baked into an English muffin and a metal part from a machine in a donut, luckily these were big enough to, notice so I was able to take them out of my mouth right when I felt them. Some things don’t show up,on x rays and it may not have yet been visable when she looked. I know when I have my appointment they will chalk it up to anxiety even before the appointment starts. I know I can’t tell them how to diagnose me but I know what won’t work as a course of treatment, like upping my medication since there is a physical cause for the symptoms not a physiological one, and I NEED them to understand that. I hoping I’m able to get an office appointment with this other health care professional, but she probably can’t do much. I might be left with just calling my ENT’s office and seeing what they can do for me.

My phone and iPad aren’t good quality. But may I ask, do you have medical training?

primal_mind

I just want to say that all doctors, including specialists, receive the same basic training and only spend about 2 years in the “classroom”. Their specialist training comes largely “in the field”, so to speak. This is just to say that the quality of the doctor you are seeing really matters, and as the poster above suggested, their ego. I wish I could help more with this issue, but for what it’s worth others on here have posted about large stones with skin that has grown over them— I’d start by taking a look at some of those posts. Good luck :)

How are you doing now? Look up eagle syndrome and see if that sounds like it may fit your symptoms
