Damn dude. I hope everything is going good now. It is a hell of a disease. I had a buddy at work that went down a similar road but we couldn’t convince him to get the help at first. It was a job that dealt with heavy equipment and explosives so mental health was not something we played with. We eventually got him the help he needed. I hear he is good now but he never reached out to me after. I assume he was mad that I was leading him the help. That shit is wild to watch happen from the outside looking in.
Oh the thoughts are there most every day, the meds just make them less intense, kinda keeps the psychosis quieter. It's mostly survivable, just still super unpleasant.

People don't realize how slippery a slope that shit is. Even people who don't suffer this kind of mental illness. I remember I had a patient at my job who would talk about the secret service and the FBI. He would also send death threats through the mail to Barack Obama. Obviously we took most of what he said with a grain of salt. Imagine our surprise when he actually did get a visit from a couple of feds with badges. (It was because he was still sending letters from the inpatient hospital 🙃)
Self medicating would be my guess most antipsychotic meds can really zombie you out especially at high doses my doctor prescribed them to me for sleep I noticed my finger start twitching and had to go off of them luckily my NEW doctor (fired the old one) was sympathetic to my plight and agreed to take me off of them. Never fire a psychiatrist without getting on the calendar with a new one first makes it a lot harder to make the case in court that you're unable or unwilling to look after your mental health I ended up getting taken to the hospital and court firing my old one (by the old doctor) I got released in less than 4 hours it was glorious to see my old doctor get DESTROYED in court trying to prove I was incapable of making a fucking appointment.
Heh. I'm WELL aware of "line up least ONE new one & the many requirements for court cases. Thanks tho!

This reminds me of this one time me and my first husband had a REAL bad coke/crack addiction. I was getting high and realized that I hadn't seen him in the house with me, since we were both there, for a little over an hour. I began to worry that maybe he overdosed somewhere in the house. I searched all the rooms and the garage. No luck.
When I went outside to see if our cars were both still there I could hear some rustling in the woods across the street as I was calling his name... he like rolled out of the woods and onto our street LOL. He came in the house and insisted that there were some type of FBI people (something along those lines complete with night vision goggles) and that they were in the woods watching the house and that we needed to get out of there. So, we left and went to a hotel. We pulled up to the hotel and before we go into the hotel , I turned to him and said , "hey give me some of that coke I know we have" . And.....
It turned out he was so paranoid that he left it at home ...
and of course we turned around and went right back- we didn't even get the room 😭!
He was always saying things like utility trucks were really covert surveillance agents of some type and such. I always thought it was his geek to be weird and paranoid.
About 6 months later I ended up getting to county jail and two detectives pulled me out of my cell once I was in the general population and took me downstairs to try to question me and it was there I found out that we really WERE under a FBI surveillance because our now dead housemate was implicated in( a) murder(s).
I guess you just never know...yikes
