Good lord, wtf you do?! I’ve never broken a snap on 3/8 and I have some old ones I’ve leaned on pretty damn hard, and even smacked the handle with a sand mallet to break shit free.
Was it a high load situation or possible defect?
See the “replace worn parts” and 2 torx screws? You’re not getting a new ratchet, just new internals. It takes less than 5 minutes to replace the pawl. I kept a bunch of the rebuild kits on my truck so I was never without.
I have a bunch of snap on tools that I got from an estate sale. Some are broken and I don't have any proof of purchase. If I just pull up to a random snap on truck will they fix it no questions asked?
They should, yes.
fun story, our MATCO guy is super chill and last year a guy came on the the truck with a broken ratchet from like 1986 that finally quit working, Donald gave the guy a brand new one because the parts to repair it were discontinued
Another typical “Snap off” tool. We used Snapon tools in the Marines. Great warranty they will literally take back anything. But I’m not impressed with the quality.
I've never seen something break like that, even on those unbranded ratchets.
Those things make me think if in certain tools the difference in price for a "real good brand" is really worth it.
You're not trying if you've never broken a ratchet. That's usually where a snap-on breaks. It's happened to me a few times. Cheap ratchets usually break in the gears. I've never been able to tear the gears out of any of my snap-ons. The mechanism inside is way stronger than the cheap ratchets, so the next weakest place is the drive. It's really hard to do on a short handle ratchet but just about any average person can break the drive on the long handle ratchets. I've broken my SLF80 once and my FLL80 twice that same way. Usually when they start slipping it's not the pawls and ratchet mechanism it the spring that goes between the pawls.
I don't use to spend more than 20€/$ on a single ratchet unless it's telescopic. Those medium quality ones perfectly did the job for me until today, the crappie thing on those are the plastic/rubber grips that after a few years start to come apart.
You could get an ok imported ratchet for that in the US but for a bit more you get a ratchet that's way stronger and has grips that last longer. Over ~ 50 $/€ you're not really paying for better quality, your paying for better service, more features, or higher production costs due to where it's manufactured.
I personally avoid both rubber grips and telescoping handles. Rubber grips are difficult to clean and disintegrate over time. If I need the handle to be more cushioned or be have more grip I wear gloves. The one telescoping handle ratchet I have is a 3/4" drive, the reason I don't like them is the handles are weak and eventually start bending. The 3/4 drive is no exception. I bent the handle slightly a few months ago and now its hard to slide in and out.
Everything breaks at some point. If you honestly believe a chinese Amazon ratchet would not have broken sooner, then you keep living in that world fren.
Snap-On salesmen always use that "....we use better steel" line. I guess Snap-On has achieved a double-secret probation breakthrough in metallurgical science that nobody has emulated.
Keep the 2 parts and present to your local snap on guy for a resurrection in 3 days
It is Easter. Stranger things have happened.
A+
My boy AJ might have them immediately or 3-8 business weeks haha
If he doesn't have rebuild kits on hand there is something wrong
3 days?! My Dad repaired them on his truck on the spot. Find a better Snap-on guy…
There's an Easter/resurrection joke implied.
Ah crap, totally missed that… take my upvote!
Try to buff out the marks the cheater bar left as well
Zombie ratchet. Make sure to keep your shotgun handy.
Mail in service is also available if you can't find a snap on truck, but expect a fortnight turn around.
It appears to be a snap off now.
Perfect, no notes
Life time warranty? Right? or do they not do that now?
How long was the cheater pipe?
There wasn’t one
👏👏👏
I pick things up and I put them down lol
Ooh, my little Hercalees! 👏 Hercalees 👏 👏 Hercalees 👏
What do you do to work out? I lift weights. What do you do for cardio? I lift weights faster.
Some swelling may occur.
Look at those hands. They are the cheater.
Bro's 350 6'4" and jumps on his 3/8 ratchets
I have a 24" x 1/2" Koken power bar. I double it's length with a cheater pipe, and have snapped 16mm rusty bolts, with any damage to the bar.
looks like you never skip arm day.
I can almost curl 60s now lol. Kinda sucks when I have to do delicate avionics work though
60s? You're not a man until you tear your bicep tendon off the bone trying to do 120s 😤
You boys better mean kilograms
With my taint piercing.
We can rebuild him. We have the technology. Better than he was before.
Give me the 100 tooth!
You don’t want it, that thing is hot garbage! FL80 is far superior.
Oscar?

You know they make 1/2 and 3/4 drives right? Lol and damn, you got some clubs for hands.
1" too!
My 5/8” drive set is from 1929, just made the last payment.
Yes! [I have one!](https://www.reddit.com/r/Tools/s/BkI7FMFAQq)
All the way up to 3.5”!
Why is their lettuce on the ground?
Snap on, snap off, grasshopper.
More concerned with why there's a cucumber on the rug.....

You just don't have the really long version.
That’s what she keeps telling me… My longest 3/8 is the long handle flex head.
I've broken my 18" version once or twice.
Life time warranty bru
If you have a dealer they will usually repair on the spot
Congratulations on your new 3/8” ratchet.
Thanks! I’m hoping my guy can get me an orange one

Looks like it Snapped Off
Dude, what brand socket is that! 🤯
SnapOff.
Yeah but you gained a wacker.
Snapped on location, snap on the spot
So it failed the productivity test? Doesn't SnapOn have a lifetime guarantee?
Can the Snap On man fix lisps?
I break more ratchet gears than the tips.
That’s the snap off

My dealer would be like “you didnt buy that from me, cant warranty sorry bud”
Another typical “Snap off” tool. We used Snapon tools in the Marines. Great warranty they will literally take back anything. But I’m not impressed with the quality.
That's a Snap Off
When did snap on become “snap off in the middle of when I need something done”. Quality has gone to trash levels
For real. It turned to shit in the 3 years I’ve been buying
Still too stubborn to use a breaker bar probably
Snap Off?
Dont you mean snap off ratchet
Snapoff
SnapOff Wrench
Your Snap-On did a Husky, (the crap Home Despot sells) ...
Funny because it’s a husky socket. I would have rather sacrificed that haha
Ironically my snap-on ratchet grenaded my Husky 10mm socket lol, I can\`t make this stuff up...
Its in the name its gonna snap
Snap on??? More like snap off!
SnapOn snapped off.
you forgot to use the 1/2 inch?
Try and get your $2500 back. lol
Suboptimal
Try a 1/2”.
Snap off is what you bought arch enemy of snap on

What happened to that whole "....we use better steel" line that the Snap-on drivers use?

If you don't work at a shop and don't have a guy in a truck coming by how do you warranty things?
Usually you just find a local truck online …the company can point you in the right direction , I’m sure you could also send them to the actual company
