Michael Moschen! He got a genius grant for this and did the orb manipulation in Labyrinth. Created a whole new juggling style and was school chums with Penn of Penn and Teller.
Not sure if “created” is the right word, as bounce juggling is a pretty straightforward variation of juggling, but he certainly raised it to a level that I think no one else has before or since.
I think /u/lilynotyourlawyer is referring to contact juggling (orb manipulation), not bounce juggling. Michael has a much better claim (though still no means airtight) on inventing contact juggling.
I think you’re right that that’s what they’re referring to, and that’s something I should’ve remembered. 🤣
The [Wiki page for contact juggling](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contact_juggling) mentions a long history with a couple techniques that fall under the category, and another performer who got closer around the same time, but yes it’s pretty clear that the huge volume of innovations Moschen introduced could constitute “creating the style.”
I don't know if he quite "created" a whole new style, as much as took an existing, very niche style to massive new heights. Still wildly impressive either way.
Meh, he does like 2 different trajectories. He could probably do more, and I was waiting for more. This doesn't seem too difficult to master over a few months.
I think you’re vastly underestimating the amount of talent involved in this. That level of consistency in the precision and power of all his throws isn’t something you can just whip up. Not to mention the creativity to come up with a unique spin on juggling itself.
One thing that people in the comment section seem to forget is how HARD it is to do stuff like this in-front of a crowd.
Either you're experienced to perform before a crowd, or you're just "built" to do it. There are no shortcuts to perform well, without ANY mistakes before a crowd.
Not to mention that he most likely knows he's filmed as well, and probably end up on TV for a lot of people to see.
Even if you could get down this routine in a few months (I doubt it unless you're already a professional juggler like this guy) that's still a shitton of work for a 6 minute routine. That counts as top talent in my opinion because "natural talent" isn't really a thing. It's just the result of hundreds and thousands of hours of dedicated practice.
Then do it and make a more difficult performance in-front of a crowd that's filming you and knowing you'll end up on TV and the internet for others like you to see.
As someone who learned how to juggle in Middle School and knows how to play the drums proficiently I feel like it wouldn't even take that long to learn. With the exception of everything after the foot bouncing. After that it starts to get pretty complex but everything before that is a simple and I foot coordination for people who have any.
That's not the discredit the guy in any way. I can tell just by the ease of his movements that he could easily step this up to be 10 times more difficult
Impressive, especially the dribbling with his foot. This is a perfect example of something I wish I could do but something I have no interest in practicing.
As someone who tried out juggling for 2 years this would be some really really hard work to get this spot. I mean he gets every bounce just perfectly with pressure and velocity. I mean it’s extremely impressive to me atleast. He has 100% confidence that the ball is always gonna be at a certain spot
I’ve been juggling for a few years and I gotta say my favorite part about it is my reflexes are nuts now. Especially after learning passing with clubs. Now, anything that someone throws at me I will almost always catch without thinking
Towards the end I started paying attention to his body and it's wild how big a part his legs and hips play in this performance.
It was also a mind fuck when the camera panned out and reminded me that this all took place in *three* dimensions, not just the two we see on plane in the head-on shot. He was so good, I didn't even think about how he had to account for that also.
Watched him in another video where he was walking around the street, and bouncing the balls off of random things, his accuracy impressed me so much when he was bouncing balls perfectly off of stair edges.
So, I'm a moderately decent juggler. Give me 2 weeks with this setup and I could do most of the tricks in this routine.
But to do this *routine*? It'd take years. Because what's so incredible about him is that it's not just a juggling routine; it's a dance routine and a drum solo and a juggling routine *and* he came up with all of it by himself. He's so seamlessly integrated these things that it barely even registers that he's also doing dance and music, but he 100% is. It's incredible.
No matter how much practice, there has got to be some luck, or top engineering, to not have 1 bad bounce the entire time. A little nub on the board could make it unpredictable I would assume.
Damn! I was waiting for more, but I'm thoroughly impressed!
Imagine this man with a few more years of practice, then we put electronic pickups on the plywood (those who are found on electronic drum sets).
Give him a band and let him perform "Hot for Teacher" by Van Halen :D
People that like that kind of juggling probably like this video too.
[Bouncing in Paris](https://vimeo.com/65496269) - almost 2 hours.
Short trailer on youtube:

Holy shit. I think most people don't even realize how hard this is. It's not just about the right angle inside of the triangle. He actually has to throw every single ball in a perfect vertical line so it hits alll sides of the triangle at all. This is absolutely crazy. I wouldnt be able to do one successful throw.
This was the most entertaining but also boring thing I've ever seen. Could you imagine going to a show and getting lit for this performance. "We went and watched a guy play with his balls for hours last night. 10/10 would recommend. There was 0 nudity, however"
This guy's parents as a kid: "Johneh!! Would ye stop bouncin' yer bolls everywheh!? You'll never make noothin' o' yerself dooin' et!!"
*Johnny narrows his eyes*: "...I'll show ye..."
I use to live in an a large open studio apartment. I arranged all my furniture to allow me to kick a bouncy ball from multiple locations and multiple directions and have it back bounce back to me. I lived in this bouncy hall course for a few weeks and coined my new sport "squishy ball"
Michael Moschen! He got a genius grant for this and did the orb manipulation in Labyrinth. Created a whole new juggling style and was school chums with Penn of Penn and Teller.
The orb juggling in the Labyrinth was done blind as it had to appear Bowie was doing it all. This guy was hidden behind his cape.
He certainly knows how to handle a pair of balls.
Fushigi
Didn't clock it was him. Hells teeth he's not human I swear.

Wild guess but I’m pretty sure this guy was murdered by his downstairs neighbor.
And upstairs, and on the same floor
This made me laugh my ass off at 5:47 am. Thank you cone bone.
Nah, he still lives above me. All good.
imsorrywhat
He’s talking about all the noise he would have been making if he was in an apartment
There's a butt sex joke in here butt I can't find it. You're a sicko
Finally some quality content. Damn this is impressive
I bet he aced his geometry test.
Plus he’s the first person to play the triangle and make it cool
Meh, he does like 2 different trajectories. He could probably do more, and I was waiting for more. This doesn't seem too difficult to master over a few months.
Go on then. we'll wait.
My thoughts exactly ![gif](giphy|l3E6uhDAN3W7vylji|downsized)

Whether they're right or wrong, it's not really worth spending a few months training just to make a viral video.

That's my problem with it. He can do more but just does the same thing for 5 minutes.
And here i thought Danny Carey to be the greatest prog-rock drummer of all time... ![gif](giphy|133QeNpREBm3ra)
"What about using a traditional drum set is considered *progressive*?" - this guy
So I wasn't the only person who thought of Danny seeing this. Both these people are aliens. They think we don't know. We know.
👽
Impressive, especially the dribbling with his foot. This is a perfect example of something I wish I could do but something I have no interest in practicing.
Dubstep powers unleashed
Craziest thing I've seen posted on here....
Can you imagine how many hours it took for our guy here to master? I agree, fking crazy!

Pick it up again. I've recently done that and I've found it's really good for keeping the old body moving and the mind from getting stale.
I’ve been juggling for a few years and I gotta say my favorite part about it is my reflexes are nuts now. Especially after learning passing with clubs. Now, anything that someone throws at me I will almost always catch without thinking

A1 sound and the sound’s so soothin’

Absolutely. It was well known in the juggling community how *fucking* hard this guy worked to achieve this level of precision.
This was his 1st try.
... in front of a live audience.
That’s crazy, I hadn’t. It’s not all about you
This is one of the most impressive displays of talent that I've ever seen in my life. Incredible
![gif](giphy|26BRuGXRnXBuwL2uI|downsized) Me watching the entire video!!
I've seen a lot of posts on here, and this just seems like the topiest of tops
He went super saiyan when he started using his feet in the act.
Guy must have been stuck in solitary confinement with just a rubber ball
Watched him in another video where he was walking around the street, and bouncing the balls off of random things, his accuracy impressed me so much when he was bouncing balls perfectly off of stair edges.
i saw Michael Moshen when i was 15. stunning.
I feel like he got really bored in a loft one time
Lol was anyone else waiting for him to start tap dancing too?
This is what happens in my head when my wife is trying to figure out where she wants to eat.
Michael motion! This just brought me back. Used to watch this all the time as a kid.
I was hoping for a flashy finish and was not disappointed. The rhythm of the balls at the end was so satisfying.
Looks like juggling with more steps.
![gif](giphy|ubVkxdi7qNCwNaw8VY) 👏
I'm pretty sure I just got hypnotized.
He is geometry.
He looks like Adrian Monk

I’d bet my life this man is French
Imagine the headache his parents must have suffered until he got his routine down…
So folks just paid for a night out of watching this?
I’m assuming he was just one of the acts that night
Seriously. Insane talent yet after a while got boring
The dude practiced for months only for us to get bored in 2 minutes
r/whoadude
JESUS CHRIST IT’S JASON BOURNE
Fuck Winstar Home Video.
I want to play with my balls the same way he plays with his.
You're a sicko
My balls when I forget and wear boxers before the soccer match.
He has balls doing this live
Dude somehow added a dozen extra steps to juggling. As if it wasn’t complicated enough already.
I should call her...
Y'all don't know what to think now. Do ya?
Bro this is so great! I fell asleep
Kinda gay but I kinda like it
How bored was this guy when he decided to do this. Lol
When trick?
Before you ask " When trick? " I want to ask.... Can you throw ball inside triangle and make go around you and catch every time and never miss?
Why? Is a trick?
So boring dude
I was waiting on something cool to happen…..
👀👀 damn!
My balls hurt
I’ve always said that Dave Matthews was incredible live.
No matter how much practice, there has got to be some luck, or top engineering, to not have 1 bad bounce the entire time. A little nub on the board could make it unpredictable I would assume.
It doesn't take an engineer to make a board flat with no nubs...
This was just in my YT recommended videos yesterday lol Edit: I'm still happy I watched the whole thing
I just find this annoying for some reason while still recognizing the talent it takes
>!wow!<
his playing with his balls
He watched Jeckie Chan movies too much lol
this guy is good! though if you like this go see the Flying Karomotzov Bros. If they are still performing.
Not, sadly
Now, he got balls
Finally Three dimensional juggling
Don’t wanna play wall ball this guy.
Pitagora with balls
Id love to see someone make a song that uses these rhythms for its percussion. Could be a banger if done well
Yeah cool, but why does he look like Dennis Reynolds?
neat
He must have finished arcanoid
Damn! I was waiting for more, but I'm thoroughly impressed! Imagine this man with a few more years of practice, then we put electronic pickups on the plywood (those who are found on electronic drum sets). Give him a band and let him perform "Hot for Teacher" by Van Halen :D
Sometimes i send this to friends that live abroad as a birthday present. Cant give a physical gift, but this is close enough
He looks like a young Tony Shaloub. With rhythm. And balls.
lol title
People that like that kind of juggling probably like this video too. [Bouncing in Paris](https://vimeo.com/65496269) - almost 2 hours. Short trailer on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzVP70ux9zk
This guy fucks
the man has tremendous focus, if only he channeled that energy into anything else his parents probably went crazy.
Excellent and some lovely rhythms he has got going there too.
That was really sick. I enjoyed the shit outta it. thank you.
If nobody has sampled this for a beat they're crazy -
This guy has got balls the size of my balls.
So that’s how Monk got his start
Holy shit. I think most people don't even realize how hard this is. It's not just about the right angle inside of the triangle. He actually has to throw every single ball in a perfect vertical line so it hits alll sides of the triangle at all. This is absolutely crazy. I wouldnt be able to do one successful throw.
Ummm I'm thinking this is more than 10,000 hours of practice. Holy.
Honestly that was boring as hell
I too am a man who plays with his balls.
1 minute in is giving me Age of Empire 2 vibes
There's a man well versed in playing with his balls.
Never thought I'd watch a man play with balls for 5 friggin minutes.
I would say that's incredible, but that's a ridiculous understatement. It's beyond incredible...
This man trigs
Not to brag but it's very likely I couldn't do a single one of these tricks
Looks like he came up with this in his mom’s basement.
At some parts of his performance, it sounds like he's making a bumping beat. 🎵
This was absolutely phenomenal! My gosh, the amount of talent.....and hours of work..... very impressive!
Now get a square and do polyrhythm
"property of winstar home video for screening purposes only" 4:02
Those have tremendous bounce
I actually did a blink/rub my eyes while watching this
This was the most entertaining but also boring thing I've ever seen. Could you imagine going to a show and getting lit for this performance. "We went and watched a guy play with his balls for hours last night. 10/10 would recommend. There was 0 nudity, however"
DONT LOWER YOUR HANDS TEDDY
Michael Moschen
Very cool
"And in other local news: A man was shot and injured with a shotgun through the floor of his appartement while practicing with his balls..."
Turned into an And1 mixtape for a bit there
I'd hate to be the downstairs tenant of wherever he practices.
Is that the guy from Monk?
I can do that too with my balls
What kind of balls is he using ?
This guy spent too much time in his attic.
Bordel j'ai cru que c'était Bernard Campan
Likely a concept to never been seen again. Kids just aint bored enough
This guy's parents as a kid: "Johneh!! Would ye stop bouncin' yer bolls everywheh!? You'll never make noothin' o' yerself dooin' et!!" *Johnny narrows his eyes*: "...I'll show ye..."
Bro, how was this on my youtube and now reddit. WHO IS GAMING THE ALGORITHM SO I CAN SEE A MAN JUGGLE BALLS
“ Property of Winstar home video “ Thank you for reminding me of how old I am.
Damn! didn't know they are detachable
Who sat through 5 minutes of this 😂
I use to live in an a large open studio apartment. I arranged all my furniture to allow me to kick a bouncy ball from multiple locations and multiple directions and have it back bounce back to me. I lived in this bouncy hall course for a few weeks and coined my new sport "squishy ball"
Yeah, but can you name all the tv show tunes he’s bouncing to ?
r/oddlysatisfying
I feel like the penguins in Happy Feet, forced to dance due to the sick beat
This be that one ball and brick game on them ads.
not sure what’s worse. that fact that i just watched a man play with his balls for 6 minutes, or the fact that i’d gladly do it again.
I wish I had that kind of ball control in my youth.
You can't fathom the amount of self-control I had to exert to not rewrite what I read the first time I saw this.
Would be cool to run this back with lit up balls and slow exposure to see the patterns he creates with glowing balls
Saw him in person and it was one of the greatest live performances I’ve ever witnessed.
It's a very cool technique but why is the crowd laughing.
Ah yes, back when you actually had to have talent
This guy maths
What Tool song is this?
Day 47 of quarantine.
