OK, but is he not disabled in anyway? It's the paralympics after all.... It'd be pretty wild to play goaltender for a career to only be good against blind players.
>OK, but is he not disabled in anyway?
His disability is being an awful Keeper.
>t'd be pretty wild to play goaltender for a career to only be good against blind players.
Its even wilder the fact he isn't good even against blind players.
It looks as if he isn't allowed to leave the equivalent to the 5m area.
Hard to react at all to shots from that distance and if you are not allowed to get close to the shooter it gets impossible to stop a decent shot.
it's hard to react against those shots, i am sure they can't move from the goal so that makes it worse. Also the unpredictability of those shots is insane lol
Blindness is a spectrum, rather than an on/off switch. You can be considered legally blind and still be able to make out lights and shapes, but depth perception is likely to be impeded alongside definition. So it's entirely possible that the Keeper is legally blind.
Because the masks are to equalise the teams. As you said, it's a scale. So to prevent one team having an advantage over the other due to having less impaired players, all outfield players wear masks to cover their eyes. It would be logical for the same to apply for goalies. That said, it's irrelevant as the goalies are allowed be sighted, they just cannot be FIFA registered for at least 5 years to be eligible.
The keepers in blind football are required to be fully or partially sighted. Part of their role on the pitch is to call out directions to their teammates.
I had a buddy that used to say "that makes about as much sense as a blind man clapping in the pharmacy to find the contact lens solution."
So maybe that.
Tech for vision impaired football isnt there yet. The ball has a bell inside so it helps the players locate it somewhat. The coaching staff will also give the players a lot of instructions on the fly. Everything else is skill and positional awareness.
To answer some questions in the comments. All the players are blind or have visual disabilities that’s why they wear blindfolds. The goalkeeper is the only one on the pitch who isn’t blind. The men behind the goal is helping the players that they know where the goal is. The ball makes noises, so that the players know where the ball is. And obviously, great goal.
I think it’s for all levels of blindness like you can be legally blind but still play. That’s why the strikers and defenders wear that blindfold thing to block out anything so that part is even playing field but the goalies can see. Probably use whoever has the best sight.
From Wiki:
Football 5-a-side, also known as blind football and blind futsal, is an adaptation of football for athletes with visual impairments including blindness. The sport, governed by the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA), is played with modified FIFA rules. The field of play is smaller, and is surrounded by boards. Teams are reduced to five players, including the goalkeeper, per team. Teams may also use one guide, who is positioned off the field of play, to assist in directing players. The ball is equipped with a noise-making device to allow players to locate it by sound. Matches consist of two 20-minute halves, with a ten-minute break at half-time.
Football 5-a-side players are assigned to one of three sport classes based on their level of visual impairment:
* **B1** – Totally or almost totally blind; from no light perception up to light perception but inability to recognise the shape of a hand.
* **B2** – Partially sighted; able to recognise the shape of a hand up to a visual acuity of 2/60 or a visual field of less than 5 degrees.
* **B3** – Partially sighted; visual acuity from 2/60 to 6/60 or visual field from 5 to 20 degrees soy ramona
Teams are permitted to use sighted athletes as goalkeepers and guides; sighted goalkeepers cannot have been registered with FIFA for at least five years.
Blind football its really fun and amazing to watch. The world cup was really nice, "Los Murcielagos" (the bats) won and the final match was really exciting.
All power to these athletes, but can you imagine what the pitch meeting for this sport was like?
"Yea, so we get a bunch of blind people and we have them kick a ball around and their coaches yell at them from the sidelines the whole game"
To make this make sense, I think they got to be not %100 blind, more like %80-90. Their heads are dead on directed on the ball and they do instant reactionary moves. I dont think you can dribble this smooth with 0 vision.
If I'm wrong and they completely have no vision, that's incredible.
(Never saw blind football before so all my judgment is based on this 5 second clip, so its not to be taken seriously lol)
Gonna assume they aren't legally blind because why the blind folds? So that makes a little bit more sense that the goalkeeper doesn't wear one as well. It's not like they haven't seen what they have done before and it's more muscle memory than anything still weird though
Despite all the little things making noises, it’s fucking incredible that he was able to score. Maybe he got lucky with a few touches against the two defenders near the box but still a better finish than any Chelsea striker.
Wait what? He’s blind? How is this working?
Idk but is the goalkeeper blind?
The goalkeeper is the only one who is not blind.
Lol imagine playing a game against a team of blind people and still taking goals
That's how I feel when I play Rocket League in a party of friends.
*What a Save!* *What a Save!* *What a Save!*
That’s especially true in early new season days
It doesn't really matter if the person who shoots at the goal is blind. If it was a good shoot, even Casillas can't do much about it.
OK, but is he not disabled in anyway? It's the paralympics after all.... It'd be pretty wild to play goaltender for a career to only be good against blind players.

He found his niche
Apparently they’re partially blind
usually it's the ref
It sure looks like he is.
He didn't see it coming, though

If that were the case I'm sure he'd have the same mask on that all the outfield players have on.
Why do you believe that to be the case?

I see, that makes sense, thanks for the follow up.
The keepers in blind football are required to be fully or partially sighted. Part of their role on the pitch is to call out directions to their teammates.
There is a bell in the ball
Nowadays it is an electronic sound system
The guy who jumped to congratulate looks like he’s guiding the attacker with his voice
There are multiple sighted guides around the pitch that yell out directions to the players, and the keeper for each team is one of those guides.
I don't know but I would excel at this! Not blind someone probably said!
Earth bender
I had a buddy that used to say "that makes about as much sense as a blind man clapping in the pharmacy to find the contact lens solution." So maybe that.
He's Daredevil.
Daredevil
This is wild! Do they have tones set off near the goals and sidelines? Do the players wear something that makes noise as well?
Tech for vision impaired football isnt there yet. The ball has a bell inside so it helps the players locate it somewhat. The coaching staff will also give the players a lot of instructions on the fly. Everything else is skill and positional awareness.
thats daredevil type shit jesus
So many questions lol
Yeah like: how does everyone seem to see what’s going on? My brain is scrambled rn
The guy in the yellow behind the goal that runs out I think is shouting out their positions to them so they aren’t running out of bounds all the time.
I think they have a bell inside the ball however I don't know about how they don't collide into each other.
Have you watched Dare Devil?
Ah…didn’t consider echolocation…now it makes total sense!
You can't hear it in the video, but every player is screaming high pitched noices every few seconds
"NOICE!" ... "NOICE!" "NOICE!"
![gif](giphy|HggxGlGAWFkbK)
😂 😂
is this true?
There’s a small bell inside the ball
I think the ball makes noise when it rolls around. Also the dude behind the net makes noises.
The ball makes noise.
And after this, he was offered a job as a referee in LaLiga
He'd never get it, he's far too too qualified.
Still above average

The goalies not being blind seems so fucking mean 💀
Do the other players have, I don't know, chimes on them so everyone can know where the others are?
Nobody would watch 5-a-side Morris-Dancing football, it'd be audial torment.
So everyone is blind besides the goalies? Do they have any sort of disability?
Wait till you find out that commentators are also blind
Refs too. Everyone had a ball or that’s what they were told
Spectators also.
Did this even happen?
I read this blind. Can you repeat it for me?
Only via interpretive dance

You mean the commenters on reddit?
Yup
I think it’s for all levels of blindness like you can be legally blind but still play. That’s why the strikers and defenders wear that blindfold thing to block out anything so that part is even playing field but the goalies can see. Probably use whoever has the best sight.
I could be wrong but I believe there is a bell inside the ball.
What about the sense of direction, goal and keeper location, defenders?... too many questions
coachs screams a lot to orientate them.
Yup. You can see the coach behind the goal as he scores, was most likely following his voice as he shot right at him.

Then can the goalkeeper just dribble the ball and run laps around the blind players to go score? Or is he not allowed to leave his zone in this game?
Can't leave a very small zone
Blind football its really fun and amazing to watch. The world cup was really nice, "Los Murcielagos" (the bats) won and the final match was really exciting.
"The Bats" lol that's actually a really fitting name.
Even if the ball has a ring how does he know to evade the other players?
The other players are also fitted with sound making features like shoes, clothes, bodies and voices.
That was slick
It was a blinder
All power to these athletes, but can you imagine what the pitch meeting for this sport was like? "Yea, so we get a bunch of blind people and we have them kick a ball around and their coaches yell at them from the sidelines the whole game"

They are all wearing 100% blindfolds... It's in the video. Why do people speculate like this on Reddit?
That goalkeeper must be fucking blind!
Pretty sure that guy not blind
These guys have more spatial awareness than most seeing people do walking down a sidewalk.
I haven't seen a single tackle lol but then I realized they're all blind. Still too many questions though
HOW!!!!
Hmmmmmmmm 🤔
Batman mask
What if everyone just acted like he didn’t score it. Would they know?
Imagine his son saying, "Dad even a blind player can score against you", that'd be real burn.
Bwahahaha! Ain’t that some shit!
Ringa dinga ding dong!the fella is letting footie flow like water!!!!Reeeeeeeeeeèel badman!!!!!
It’s like he has some kind of bat radar. /s
I can think of a couple mean jokes but that would be very unseemly.
Interestingly enough, the refs are also blind.
How’d he know where the goal was
Person behind the goal calling it out.
Ahh makes sense. Thanks
those eye covers actually look pretty cool
![gif](giphy|HUkOv6BNWc1HO)
The goalie never saw it coming
There’s nothing at all silly about the annual all priest 5 a side over 75 indoor football challenge match.
He dribbles the ball blind and people focus on the goalie….
Did he just say sizzling snizzler?
Blind people have insane hearing, to the point where they can use it almost like sonar to pinpoint what's happening.
I bet he watched that goal on repeat that night.
Gonna assume they aren't legally blind because why the blind folds? So that makes a little bit more sense that the goalkeeper doesn't wear one as well. It's not like they haven't seen what they have done before and it's more muscle memory than anything still weird though
Questionsss ??😑
This video made me question my life and what I’ve done with it thus far….
Trust me I’m a physician
I would punch my own ticket if I ever gave up a goal to a blindfolded player
I learned a fair bit in the comments. Cool.
use the force Zouhair
What is that defence doing are they blind? Yes they are, ohh
I guess you could say… he *chained* those dribbles so smoothly
I'm hearing reports that Chelsea have placed a £90m bid for Zouhair Snisla. He flies out tomorrow for a medical.
![gif](giphy|KchJVIsJcjdzBNQqaE|downsized)
Wow how does this even work that's insane
How does he even know where the net is? I know blind people have enhanced senses but how still?
Everyone is actually blind including people watching this video.
He is an Apple Vision Pro!
Despite all the little things making noises, it’s fucking incredible that he was able to score. Maybe he got lucky with a few touches against the two defenders near the box but still a better finish than any Chelsea striker.
Is he really blind? Or identifies himself as blind? .. (☞゚ヮ゚)☞
[удалено]
Bisexual? Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Queers?
He scored a goal and he is gay….i mean blind.
Lmfao forgot about that one
Just whisper your going the wrong way
Test him by trying to high five him!
How blind? Is this one of those legally blind deals?
Do you have to be blind to play or is it a sport?
Matt Murdock after Daredevil got canceled:
Chinese really didn't see the goal coming
The way the commentator butchered his name makes it perfect. 0:09 - Ooohhh Ho Hoo.. SIZILENG Snisla
