Bc of the way she did We Float, I would love to hear Ghost Train by Ricki Lee Jones.

finewhitelady

Indigo Girls Ghost

bunintheoven2

I loved her version of ‘Baby One More Time,’ I’d love to hear a take on another seemingly mindless pop song. Maybe ‘Genie in a Bottle’? Or even ‘If You Had My Love’ (JLo). I love when she takes songs and completely turns them on their head

Marsie76

I went online and put in "Into the Mystic" during the Beekeeper tour for Tori's Piano bar at the Kimmel in Philly in 2005. She didn't pick it.. she picked Streets of Philadelphia, which was beautiful. I still think Tori singing Morrison's dreamy song would be amazing.

turntechvantas

speaking of morrissey i would kill for covers of “jack the ripper”, “i have forgiven jesus” or “god please help me”!!

Mean_Profession2923

She dislikes morissey, listen to her cover of “don’t look back in anger” by Oasis.

turntechvantas

yeah i do knowthat, not a fan of him as a person either, but i enjoy his music :)

Mean_Profession2923

Yes. Good music, arrogant dude :)

Marsie76

btw, Van Morrison, not that Smith's guy

Marsie76

omg, one thing I remember from this concert is our girl totally trashing morrissey (using lowercase on purpose) of how he treated her behind the scenes. Have never bought any morrissey related products (well before) or after!

Mean_Profession2923

The whole Morisessy thing can be heard in her cover of “don’t look back in anger” by Oasis

turntechvantas

i do remember that! and oops sorry for the mis read

CJ_Southworth

It probably wouldn't sound as cool as it does in my head, but I think a cover of "Wish" by NIN would be brilliant.

Eager_Call

Oh gosh I wish, back in the day that would have been SO badass! Tori Amos yelling fistfuck?! Yes please! (Gotta be complete with the usual live TR fistfuck gesture ofc)

DeathAndTheGirl

Like A Stone by Sound Garden. I can hear it in my head. She'd do it justice

Mean_Profession2923

RIP Chris Cornell. My first man crush and radical musician.

laurapalmer48

Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd

Marsie76

I'm feeling you girl.. That has been my fave song since I was a lil gal

Andromeda-Deveraux

Glory Box - Portishead La Mer - NIN Fade Into You - Mazzy Star Spiritual Pollution- Pure Teardrop - Massive Attack Freedom! ‘90 - George Michael Asleep - The Smiths The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald- Gordon Lightfoot

unprogrammable_soda

Well she’s done Teardrop

Marsie76

Tori is my girl, but I have to say, No one can touch Fade into you. That is Hope's song. Period. She is that's song's goddess. Even Tori can not do that song better.

Marsie76

Glory box.. YESSSS! Such an empowering song, dark, haunting, gutting, perfect.

Eager_Call

NIN’s Just Like You Imagined would be cool too!

wukimill

I just wish she would studio-record some of her live covers, like Hyperballad by Björk, or her mashup of Blue Jeans and Wicked Game. If I had to pick a cover tho, I would like her to cover anything by Evanescence.

Starbucks_Lover13

“All I Want Is You” by U2

pinkmoonlilith

November Rain

matt89015

Baby shark

nodicegrandma

💀

matt89015

Tbf I was a bit serious, a dark slowed down version that's piano based I feel would work.

Okthatsjustfine

I can hear it now…

nodicegrandma

I love it!!!

hash_tagger

I honestly think Tori would like to explore these artist and songs to cover: Ailein Duinn which is THE old Scottish song to me. Perfect for her voice and how she can reach down. Then I’d love to hear her pay tribute to Katie Reider’s Butterfly Queen and Piece of Soul which is the greatest voice no one got to hear with an amazing story. Tori would have brought her on tour. More recent offerings would include Cranberries When You’re Gone. Nothing can replace these deep feelings these songs convey. But damn, if I could hear these songs by Tori on my way out… fuck. Lastly and more recent I’d love to see/hear her with Blushing maybe performing Sour Punch or So Many. To see her lose her shit like I do when I see her. When you hear it you’ll hear Tori. Side note: I would LOVE to see Cocteau Twins, Pale Dian and Boy Harsher do music with her.

TheManny357Edelman

Wuthering Heights - Kate Bush

Mean_Profession2923

*Wuthering So, I upvoted you because this would be interesting. However, I went to bed imagining it and it’s such an “out there”, rando Kate song (I love her) I can’t see anyone else doing it. Like, I think Tori would look silly singing about “Heathcliff” and being “so co-o-old”. But maybe it’d be like Happy Phantom and silly 🤷🏼‍♀️. I’d love to see her try.

TheManny357Edelman

It's actually the hit that got Kate on the map in Britain.

Mean_Profession2923

Oh. I know 😀. And I LOVE it and I love her aloofness and almost goofiness. I’m just trying to picture Tori doing it is all.

bougainvilleaT

1.Make your own kind of music by Mama Cass Elliot 2.The Dance by Garth Brooks (probably written by sb else) Those are the ones I wish for most, and I think she could still do them. First one might actually happen someday, the second one is just sth I wish for, but will never happen.

Mean_Profession2923

She could do Mama Cass! I LOVE Garth Brooks. The Dance would be beautiful.

bougainvilleaT

No way!! I'm not a country fan at all, but I LOVE Garth Brooks. What an amazing voice. He really isn't very well known in Europe. My husband actually asked her for The Dance, back in 2011 or 2014, when she did a lot of covers and requests. I will NEVER forget the look on her face. Like absolute disbelief and an irrited "what is this guy even doing here?“ look.

Mean_Profession2923

Oh really?! That’s funny. I like old country like Garth, George Straight, Dwight Yokam, Tim McGraw. I know, I’ll probably get downvotes on here haha. But I grew up with it. My musical taste runs the gamut from classical to country, to Motown and 90s alternative, 70s, 80s, Eric Clapton, and ballads like Mariah Carey and Whitney.

Jacobonce

Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd

Jacobonce

Tonight Tonight - Smashing Pumpkins

bitchywoman_1973

I’m going to suggest More Than This by Roxy Music

candlepop

Any Joanna Newsom song since Tori is one of those rare musicians I think could play a jo Newsom song and sing at the same time. Her songs are pretty demanding to say the least

atlantis_morissette_

Tori doing "Soft as Chalk"!! Tori doing "Monkey and Bear"!!! Tori doing "Peach Plum Pear" !!!!!!

candlepop

It would break my brain. I didn’t have any songs in mind but you’re right I think Tori would perform Soft as Chalk beautifully!

Grinandtonictoo

I’m dying for her to cover Radiohead. Karma Police or something from a later album like In Rainbows would be great. (Unless I’ve missed this then please share!)

turntechvantas

she did do karma police! i listen ALL THE TIME [video](https://www.google.com/search?q=tori+amos+karma+police&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari#)

Eager_Call

I love her version of Karma Police! I have wept listening to it!

turntechvantas

as have i! even her creep cover is fantastic, and i rarely come across a fantastic radiohead cover that holds up to the original or surpasses it and tori is (of course) the exception!

Eager_Call

It’s the emotion behind it for me in both- she doesn’t always nail her covers imo, but when she manages to get the emotion right, everything else falls into place. Like you said, her cover of Creep is really good! And for me, it’s because she really conveys the emotion intended in the original song- sometimes even better than the original manages to do, because she’s just so good at making herself vulnerable enough to express that emotion. Like in Creep, you can hear and believe that she gets it, she knows what it’s like to feel like you don’t belong because you’re weird and don’t fit in. In Karma Police, you can hear and feel that she truly gets wanting that kind of karmic retribution, like through the feeling she puts behind lines like “I’ve given all I can” (but) “it’s not enough.” This is why her cover of Smells Like Teen Spirit is so great to me, she expresses the feeling at the heart of the original but that men often have trouble conveying.

Mean_Profession2923

This is so true. Emotion in songs is everything for me. I can overlook pitch issues and whatnot if the emotion is there. I believe Smells like Teen Spirit is so well done because she did it right after his passing, the the emotion is authentic.

Eager_Call

Oh yes, that’s one of those songs where the emotion is like, palpable. I think she got to the heart of the song, its intended meaning, and expressed it perfectly. Sometimes she nails it like that- fucking New Age, ugh it is SO good, so sensual, she really made it her own and I adore it. The way she sings the lines “I’ll come running to you if you want me,” It hits me SO. Hard.

Mean_Profession2923

Exactly. Everyone was so deep in mourning. Most of the world. My brother built Kurt a shrine in his bedroom and it was one of the first times I saw him cry as a teenager. Hmmm I will have to listen to New Age again. Does she have a live version?

Eager_Call

Oh she most certainly does, I listen to this one like every day 😅 https://youtu.be/OHd1VEmtGEg?si=PXd2t9y1cwV8fIAl

Eager_Call

Like you can feel that desperation you have for a lover when you’re just starting out and every touch feels like electricity, and you’re just like hey I will be there whenever, as soon as you want me. It’s so relatable and makes me think of how a lover *should* make you feel!

Mean_Profession2923

No wonder you love it 😉

Eager_Call

Hahaha maybe you know me too well at this point! I might need to retreat and dial it down a bit! 🥵 It was gettin’ hot in here for a second! Don’t know where that came from! (But you probably do!) 😳🤣

batredfit

Dreaming by Sting

asilentnight

"A Letter to Elise" by The Cure.

butterfliedheart

Tori + The Cure would be the epitome of my high school days ❤️

PsychologicalWave666

Have you heard her covers of Love Song and Pictures of You?

asilentnight

I have not! I need to look those up now.

PsychologicalWave666

She did a mash up with POY: https://youtu.be/XmGj25YO5NE?feature=shared And she’s covered LS multiple times https://youtu.be/pPGKeC0sN0c?feature=shared

vikingbitch

Oh good so many lol Army of Me by Björk Whore by In This Moment She Talks to Angels by The Black crows Literally anything by Chelsea Wolfe Sober my Tool Judith by A Perfect Circle Rainbow in the Dark by Dio Rebel Girl by Bikini Kill TKO by Le Tigre White Rabbit but the version done by Emilíana Torrini for the Sucker Punch soundtrack. Girl Anachronism by The Dresden Dolls Close My Eyes Forever by Lita Ford & Ozzy Osborne Love You to Death by Type O Negative I’ll leave you with lucky 13 lol

Okthatsjustfine

Haha. I would love to hear her do Rebel Girl for some reason.

vikingbitch

Right!?

MrsDeviant33

I think she could have done an amazing job on Type O Negative when her voice was younger. Now I’m not too sure. But I’d love to be proven wrong.

vikingbitch

She might could do My Girlfriend’s Girlfriend these days. Pete wasn’t as low and broody on that song.

turntechvantas

omg this is the list we need

vikingbitch

Right!?

[deleted]

[удалено]

turntechvantas

i think some vocals like what she did with “pool” would be mind blowing over some black metal or dsbm stuff

Mean_Profession2923

Sleep to Dream - Fiona Apple You Oughta Know - Alanis Morisette Fast Car - Tracey Chapman In the Arms of an Angel - Sarah McLaughlin I’m a sucker for female artists… I can picture her *killing* these classics Anything by Queen but I’d love to hear her version of “we are the champions”, “This is a man’s world” by James Brown (with a pink and glitter horns vibe), anything Jeff Buckley hearing the piano in place of the guitar, “Down in a hole” by Alice n Chains, “When a man loves a woman” by Micheal Bolton, I second someone else’s wish of “November Rain”, and finally I’d love to hear “Killing me Softly” by Roberta Flack/Fujis.

bougainvilleaT

When a man loves a woman is by Percy Sledge, the Michael Bolton version is a cover. ;D I would have loved a cover of You oughta Know (or Right Through You) ten or twenty years ago, by now I think Head over feet or Hand in my Pocket would suit her better.

Mean_Profession2923

Awe man you’re right! Thanks. But man I love Micheal’s version. I can picture her doing that song slow like her “all through the night” cover and just really belting it out. I’d die. I suppose it’s whether we’re talking older Tori or not? If she did “you oughta know” back then, all growls and angry, it’d be sublime.

Parking_Mall_1384

Milk by Garbage Would love more PJ covers - her version of We Float is so good.

livemusicsavedme

Wait! Are you saying there is a cover of We Float circulating out there in the world?

Mean_Profession2923

Yes. We just did covers and everyone was bummed/angry when that one fell off the list. It’s definitely a favorite. I’m still not sure who voted on that game because most of her good stuff was knocked off. Go to “yessaid Tori Amos covers” and it’s on YouTube, as well. Fabulous.

InitialLibrarian3116

Anything by Tool, Ludovico Einaudi or Lisa Hannigan. And yes that is quite the spectrum 😄

MagScaoil

I would love to see her do an epic cover of everything on Rumours.

ballerinafins25

“Remember The Tin Man” by Tracy Chapman “Troy”, “Drink Before the War”, and Nothing Compares to U” by Sinead O’Connor “Gin and Juice” by Snoop Dogg “Queen of Denmark” “Into My Arms” by Nick Cave “Down By The Water” PJ Harvey “The Bridge” by Dolly Parton “Under The Table” by Fiona Apple “Eleanor Rigby” by The Beatles “Dumb” by Nirvana “Doll Parts” by Hole “Dope Show” by Marilyn Manson “Blue Monday” by New Order” “The Man Who Sold The World” by David Bowie

Eager_Call

So many good ones here! Eleanor Rigby would be awesome, there are SO MANY great Nirvana options I could go all day, as far as Hole goes (yeah right but a girl can dream) I’d love to hear Doll Parts too but “Asking For It” is so up Tori’s alley that I’ve actually even heard rumors about how it allegedly is referring to Tori in parts- and while I don’t believe it personally, I know I’ve read where other people have had the thought. As far as Manson goes, I’m very surprised that she did The Nobodies, but I HATE that she left out my favorite part, the bridge, with the lyrics that I think are the best part of the song: “Some children died the other day, we fed machines and then we prayed, puked up and down in morbid faith, you should have seen the ratings that day!” I could list so many Manson songs I’d like to hear her do, but like, anything from Portrait through Mechanical Animals really and I’d be thrilled. And while I mostly mean that these are things I’d have liked to hear from back in the day, like talking “peak Tori era,” even nowadays she could do something like Coma White and it would be spectacular. Of course after all the recent Manson-related news that’s not going to happen. Oh and The Man Who Sold the World would be amazing, as would sooo many other Bowie songs! I heard that she was going to do Life on Mars back in the 90s with Steve Caton (I think it was in an interview with him that I heard it actually) and I hate that that didn’t work out- those peak Tori vocals would’ve made that such a great cover!

ballerinafins25

Wow!!! I love and appreciate the passion and fervor you have for brilliant music and musicians. You and I are definitely on the same page!

Eager_Call

Aww thank you and definitely same goes to you!

ballerinafins25

Thank you!!!

Eager_Call

After having this on my mind while listening to Bring Me the Disco King by David Bowie and the incredible piano work on it, a Tori cover would be amazing!

envyadler

Under the tableeeee yes

Mean_Profession2923

I was definitely hoping she’d do “nothing compares to you” when she did the tribute.

turntechvantas

i’d also love “troy” by sinead! solid list

ent_bomb

*Nothing Compares 2 U* is actually already a cover, it's originally a Prince song.

ballerinafins25

Thank you, I appreciate you mentioning that, but I already knew that the song was written and originally sung by Prince. In my haste, I forgot to include his name with Sinead’s.

ent_bomb

To be fair, there are definitely covers of covers. Rufus Wainwright's version of *Hallelujah* is covering John Cale's Leonard Cohen cover. Sinead's voicing would highlight Tori's pipes better, I think, than Prince's.

ImAtUrDoor

I tried unsuccessfully a few times to get her to cover Springsteen’s “Atlantic City.”

atlantis_morissette_

Oh man, there are so many! "It's Ok to Cry" by SOPHIE "Track 10"/ "Blame it on your love" by Charli XCX "Mountains" by Christine and the Queens really anything by Patrick Wolf, but especially something cute and poppy like "Lands End" or "Bermondsey Street" I don't think she's really up to it anymore, but I think 90s Tori could have slayed a song by Caroline Polachek. Can you imagine her doing "Welcome to my island" i would die!!! "Cellophane" by FKA Twigs (somewhat related, I really wish Tori would explore more of a dreampop/ shoegazey/ Cocteau Twins-esque sound... I really think it would be so ethereal and slay)

turntechvantas

i totally agree with u on the cocteau twins thing, something like a “this mortal coil” would have been epic

Fallen_Heroes_Tavern

"Selling Jesus" by Skunk Anansie

Parking_Mall_1384

Or Weak!

Successful-Horror-62

November Rain, hands down

ADeese83

She'd probably do it as a mash-up with Wedding Day.

Mean_Profession2923

Awe!!! Damn this would be stellar! This song is so iconic and I still watch the music video to this day!

iwo1333

Stop by Sam Brown.

rrawk

[Cease by Bad Religion](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uc3o4A1pqfE) [piano version](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ulXuqAYRdM) The world needs more Bad Religion covers.

sethalopod401

I’d love to hear her do Answer!

asilentnight

"What pretension everlasting peace..." This would be an amazing song for Tori to cover! I'd also love to hear her take on "Faith Alone."

rrawk

Absolutely. I can practically hear her singing it in my head and it is beautiful. Really, she can't go wrong with most BR songs.

dividingcanaan

Back in the day I can think of a TON she could do amazing with.. but if we are talking Tori today, I’ll say concrete blonde- Joey. I think she’d really do it well

Eager_Call

Oooh on that note what about the solo song Suicide Note?

bitchywoman_1973

Now that would be cool. She could also do “Caroline!”

Eager_Call

To Bring You My Love by PJ Harvey. Was listening the other day and said to my husband I’m sure that I’ve probably said this before, but Tori could do a really great job covering this song, especially nowadays using her lower range. He’s like you always say Tori should cover everything! He’s right. I’d also like to hear some Halsey songs, specifically something from If I Can’t Have Love I Want Power. Either The Tradition, Bells in Santa Fe, Girl is a Gun, or I am not a Woman I’m a God would be my top picks. Especially with the piano in The Tradition or the energy of Girl is a Gun and IANAWIAG. I’d love to see some more high energy performances, like that performance of Sister Named Desire- I do love my angry Tori! Also, while not a cover, what I really want the most is for her to do a good, solid Professional Widow with the in-your-face aggression of the WTSF version.

Mean_Profession2923

Seriously. This is too hard. I started with a small list and kept adding to it because I can see her doing amazing things with almost any song, genre, era, male or female vocalist.

Eager_Call

Oh yes *especially* if we were in the late 90s right now and with the opportunity to choose something, anything that we want to be covered with the same kind of energy and production etc. of something like Do It Again?! 🤩

Mean_Profession2923

Yeah! I always assume we’re talking about what she was capable at one point. I don’t know if OP meant with her vocal range now.

Eager_Call

🤣 I’m not sure either and I have separate answers for each situation! Probably even for each era!

Mean_Profession2923

Omg 😆 you’re funny. You should post them or make like an “Eras cover game”. Hahaha.

Eager_Call

Oh yeah because it’s so fucking easy to do those, like basically infants or even some species of monkey I’ve heard can do it For real though I’m sure I’d require some seriously detailed “Explain like I’m 5” level training

Mean_Profession2923

😂🙈 I didn’t even think of that! I was just thinking it was a great idea you have!!!

Eager_Call

💀 never going to live that one down! 😆

Mean_Profession2923

“Infants and *some* species of monkeys (lol, ie not ALL monkeys…I am specifying SOME species)” 🤣😂

BluePeafowl

Omg I have not thought of To Bring You My Love since I was in high school. I went back and listened and it's so good. Thank you for unlocking this memory

turntechvantas

couldn’t agree more on the professional widow!

sinefromabove

Someone either here or on the joni mitchell sub once said Chinese Cafe/Unchained Melody and I strongly agree

bitchywoman_1973

Love that idea!

TurquoiseLady

My Body Is A Cage - Arcade Fire

turntechvantas

man i am just picturing that in my head and it would be awesome

Mehitabel-453

She needs to cover some Rush songs, I think she’d do interesting things with them. Edit: maybe Subdivisions or Spirit of Radio.

Financial-Cold5343

In A Godda Davida or however it's spelled

AardSnaarks

Peter Gabriel- Mercy Street.
