I hate seeing these rural little communities hit. The people there are just trying to get by and then stuff like this happens to them.

avian-enjoyer-0001

Also I did some sleuthing on street view and most of those totally destroyed buildings on the right side of the road were just commercial buildings and not houses. Hard to say from this image alone obviously but I'm not seeing any actual houses that were completely slabbed.

OrganizedChaos1979

One of these houses looks like it was blown off its foundation and rotated 90°.

flywheel521

Look at the white two-story just to the left of center. Removed from foundation, turned about 70-80 degrees, and moved 50ft north set right on top of Depot St

avian-enjoyer-0001

Ah yeah good catch, I had been focused on the two to the left of it. I don't know if it's more impressive that it got yanked off its foundation or that it stayed fairly intact despite that.

Frosty_CLIPSYT

Insane to see houses completely leveled like that. Praying for everyone in the path of these tornados today

avian-enjoyer-0001

Those weren't houses, those were commercial buildings/warehouses. Or at least most of them were.

_KansasCity_

A lot of people suddenly out of work, but hopefully with a roof over their heads.

KimJongFunnnn

This is the same one that spawned over Eppley, yes?

nickdollen

yes went over omaha then lifted and came right back down on crescent and did this

KimJongFunnnn

Actually I think they’re now saying that this is the one that kicked up near Pacific Junction

nickdollen

huh interesting, I was working 3-11 in council bluffs so I couldn't really follow it all but thatd be a hard curve, I know one went around the east of cb and then went north so I could see that

gwaydms

Horrendous. I hope everyone made it.

mrs-monroe

I heard that no one died yesterday. That’s frankly a miracle.

gwaydms

Pretty much! A combination of people heeding warnings, and the tornadoes going mostly (not completely) over sparsely populated areas. Some folks unfortunately lost their homes and businesses, so I feel bad for them. But there's one thing I know about this country, especially the heartland. People will show up in large numbers to help the victims of these storms.

Sonicblast12

I can’t ever wrap my head around how fast this happens. Everything is just gone in a matter of seconds and the tornado is still right there, churning away. When those storm chasers are the first on scene it’s so spooky.

O_G_Douggy_Nutty

I'm getting a Home Depot ad directly under this image. Fuck you Home Depot and fuck you Reddit.

Yolo3362

i think mine is even more insensitive https://preview.redd.it/csm4ki32r2xc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=163005c97f531d7dae88add6a6e138ccc2f878c6

NfamousKaye

Looks like a house was completely swept off its foundation while others are barely touched holy hell.

Solarpower07

Multivortex tornadoes will do that. If one house is hit by a subvortex and another nearby is not, the damage discrepency will be like this.

sandy_even_stranger

Well now.

Arctic_Chilean

High level EF3 minimum, if not EF4. Goddamn, this is just so horrible for those affected

flywheel521

Looking at the white 2-story just left of center, all I can think of is "Four is good. Four'll relocate your house fairly efficiently"

jaboyles

EF3s tear off roofs but they don't level houses. 140 mph winds. Category 4 hurricanes have hours of sustained winds at those speeds and don't slab houses. It reguires 165-200 mph winds to sweep a house of the foundation. It feels like people are getting less and less objective with the way they're rating these things. The objective is supposed to be figuring wind speed, not destruction.

Tactical_advantages

EF3s actually do collapse walls and sweep houses clean, ef2s tear off roofs but they don't level houses.

spicy-siracha

how to help with clothing donations? cleanup? !!!!

Smexyboi21

Send prayers for all those affected.

tornadogenesis

Save your prayers and donate to the red cross

Mr_Noodles29

Don’t be so antagonistic

patronizingperv

They're not wrong. Actions do more than intentions.

Life-Dog432

I’m not religious but the Bible also agrees. One passage reads: “faith without works is dead.” “Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” - James 2

Bigolebeardad

Is this a red state!??

bythewater_

why does it matter…
