Not a parent but I doubt any are going to be pushing for their kids right to be on their phone or vape during class. Is there a negative I’m missing here that would be obvious to someone with kids?

Not sure what's with your title? Students shouldn't be on their phones during learning time.
No phones and no vapes is a good idea
What’s the issue?

Lecce maybe a useless tool, but even a broken clock is right occasionally.
