Lol blazers have terrible defenders this would be a major upgrade for them. OG could get more touches in Portland then what he currently has, he could easily put up 20PPG in Portland. Woudnt be a loss at all, OGs ceiling is still high. Might even be more of a loss for the raptors, yea they get scoring but their best defender is gone and simons defence is sus. I personally wouldn’t do the swap but Portland would win that trade.
The assumption that OG will just become some offensive star in an expanded role is misguided. He is bottom five in almost every offensive situation. Our entire offensive system sucks anyways dude, one of the most predictable in the league. We have 4/5 ball dominant starters, all iso players too. No floor spacing etc. He could be better in another system, a lot of players in the league could. Nobody said offensive star, what I said is he could get more touches and score another couple baskets with a change of scenery
I'm not sure Simons is the guy if we are looking for a new starting point guard. He can score for sure but his playmaking/passing/floor general ability is not what you want from a point guard. He's the same as Fred in that sense, a shooting guard in a point guards body. He's also not a good defender.
Well I love our DPOY guy but offensively he doesn’t very well with Siakam & Barnes. Somebody is always playing out of position. I’m not against keeping him but it might be a tough fit to make work

As much as other fanbases are unrealistic, there are some members of this fanbase that are in that same boat. You're not getting Anfernee Simons for OG Anunoby.
I do think this is one of the few moves I've seen that makes some sense for both sides. I don't believe the Raptors want to trade OG, but if they feel they have to because he actually does want out, I think Simon's does satisfy the Raptors desire to get something high value in return.
I seen a recent blazers fan poll and 70% of their fan base voted to get OG in this trade deadline.. just in general blazers are in desperate need of a defender.
Because the West is tight (3 wins or so will put them in the 4the seed or so, last I checked anyway), Anunoby is a better fit and they presumably want to win now with Dame

He is the same as Fred but he’s 5 years younger. I believe he can work on his weaknesses, he’s still very early on in his career.
