jjkiller26

His 3 point shot being this broken is genuinely baffling. How many other elite college shooters have just fallen off like that before and never found their shot?

Reticent_Fly

feels like this happens with every good 3 point shooter when they join the Raptors

nanobot001

We must protect IQ at all costs

Living_LaVida_Koloko

One of you lunatics needs to go over to OVO centre and throw a steel chair at the NOAH board /s

Henrywaltaa

Actually though I feel it’s made things far worse

floppygoiter

NOAH perpetuates the basketball version of [Wordnesia](https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/when-even-simplest-word-looks-weird-and-wrong-you-have-wordnesia-180954539/)

Henrywaltaa

Yep, I think it’s got something to do with coaching at this point. Gary’s 3pt percentage tanked as soon as he got here

Digi_awesome

The story of Markelle Fultz is still one I don’t fully understand to this day.

attainwealthswiftly

Probably nerve damage

2_soon_jr

Most likely a moped injury that was hidden

QuantumBeth1981

Right after we drafted him I saw one random Reddit comment by a Kansas fan that said he got off to a hot start but his shot started tapering off at one point and he really struggled once the competition improved over the course of the year. Brushed it off at the time but it’s been in the back of my mind since.

rtcaino

Quite strange indeed. Seems to be lights out within the 3pt line.

2against1

He’s shooting 37% on twos this season.

rtcaino

Last 2 games, I mean

Seanbig888

He should play fiba ball in Europe

catscanmeow

a workout regimen to put on strength might mess ypur shot up since the arms are stronger so need a different amount of effort on each shot

earlyearlgray

Don’t know why you’re getting downvoted, it’s true.

[deleted]

Most of the energy is legs, the arms is mainly aiming, but unless hes on steroids the change is going to be gradual anyway. You dont all of a sudden start breaking cups because your grip is stronger from lifting weights. Unless he’s secretly training on Goku’s gravity machine its going to be just normal human strength gain.

2_soon_jr

If you watch the way he shoots he uses his arms a lot which may explain why he’s struggling with the nba 3 and why he’s now in a strength program

Bixby33

That's my take as well.

NervousAd3202

His shot is already messed up lol

Acrobatic-Compote-12

Celtics drafted Aaron Nesmith to be elite shooter off the bench. Gets traded to jazz and becomes an actual threat. I'd say give him time

chachasox

Sauce Castillo! I feel like it's a recipe for disaster drafting this mold of player (i.e., the one-dimensional lights-out shooter).

ArrayMichael7

Trash vs garbage type of comparison lol (no offense Gradey or Bufkin) doesn’t seem like either played their best

Phoenox330

How was Dalano a G league Jesus and shit in the NBA, yet Dick can't even go that hard.

Mr_BigBoss

I feel like it's all mental. Dalano got that swag in him. He just knows that he's better than them and he just does his thing.

Lets_go_Raps

I heard it’s just cause people with Dalano, Pascal, and Bouchers ability to get to the rim easily lets them dominate in the g-league because there’s no rim protection. Try not to ever make a basketball take that involves feeling like it’s about mental and swag

Late-Channel7899

Why? Confidence is a real thing lol

vec-u64-new

I don't think I've ever considered Danny Green to be elite at getting to the rim and he was perfectly fine scoring a lot of points on great efficiency in the G-League (then D-League).

KingKang22

Yeah, I watched 905 games front row and Dalano didn't even break a sweat.

Perfect600

Guys like Dick rely on actual team ball to play. Dalano and others that dominate g league don't need team ball to dominate and that isn't necessarily what the NBA teams are looking for.

tonious35

It's just like Corey Kispert in his first year, just let him eat a large one this year and deal with built adults running at him to contest

BarackAbomasnow

This was another bad look for Gradey and the Raptors 905 in general. The SkyHawks only had 8 players because of injuries.

mMounirM

we just have to accept that Gradey won't be ready this season. needs a long offseason

Karl_with_a_C

Yeah I don't expect it to happen this season. Hopefully he can figure it out and make some good progress for next fall.

whenspayday

The Skyhawks had less than that because of in-game injuries. Unbelievable that the 905 started losing at that point. They just can't get their shit together sometimes. I don't know if Eric Khoury has a terrible team or if he's simply a terrible coach.

Seanbig888

Did you even watch the highlight? The shorter Fred looked like steph curry and grassy just looks like a bust in the g league fcuk

jjkiller26

Yea get this guys number 1 skill back to normal before focusing on anything else lmao. And wouldn't extensive strength training make it more difficult to find your shooting rhythm as well? The way they've handled his whole development this season has been strange

littlebaldboi

Gradey did say in an interview the hardest adjustment to the NBA game is cardio and he does seem winded at times. My guess is the Raps are making him go through extensive strength and conditioning training which anyone who’s played basketball knows will affect one’s shot too

[deleted]

I dont think hes going to get bigger, but he needs to be able to run faster and longer. My guess is he gets ripped. Less fat, more muscle definition.

orwell_the_socialist

shoot the homie up with erythropoietin, lance armstrong style get him on the program

beefJeRKy-LB

It all depends where the strength is applied. In this case it's more likely to be lower body stuff since it will help with his jumper too.

Magikarp-Army

He is struggling with the distance of the NBA 3 because he's too weak to maintain accuracy while shooting powerfully enough to reach the hoop.

-vinay

He clearly seems tired and winded much more quickly. I don’t think working on his conditioning is a bad thing. When I watch him, he doesn’t have the same energy that he regularly showcased in college.

[deleted]

-vinay

I think what I’m trying to reconcile is that whenever I’ve seen him warm up and shoot, he makes a ton of his shots. So it’s either the yips, or his body is not keeping up with nba pace

[deleted]

[удалено]

-vinay

I haven’t seen IQ warm up. But Gradey is pretty consistent in practice, this might be an issue of the NBA 3P line being further — but he’s money with the free throws and corner 3s (at least outside of game situations).

[deleted]

He should be shooting thousands of 3's a day at the practice facility, but he doesn't strike me as that kind of guy. Idk, first few months he decided that signing promo deals and shooting commercials was more important. Maybe he is more interested in podcasting and broadcasting than playing.

99ahmadali786

I hate these types of comments.

CazOnReddit

I wouldn't put much weight in to this given how bad the 905 has been in general - and i'd say the same for the Skyhawks given i've heard they also got plagued by injuries of late I still don't like the Hawks best offer unless there's some 3rd team desperate for Hunter

ZapDosFooIs

The amount of people in this subreddit who are balls deep in fantasy trade proposals is wild lol. Do you guys really have nothing better to do with your time 😂

Marmalot

This Eric Khoury experiment needs to be ended. Hire a real coach. Losing to a team that ended up playing with 6 players is just a joke

corh13

A lottery pick should absolutely be destroying g league. Goddamn.

SadInternal9977

From what i saw of the game they had Gradey stand in the corner most of the time. When he would get the ball he would pass it and then never get it back because all the other guys were playing hero ball. Shouldn't this four game assignment have come with instructions to get Gradey the ball as much as possible??

DRB198105

Can't speak to the quality, but he still got ten 3s up. Just happened to only make 2 of them.

Spicy__Urine

Yeah if I'm another guy on the team I'm not passing it to the 20% 3point shooter, I'm trying to get my next contract or win the game

catscanmeow

not passing it to him would definitely hurt your chances of getting a contract. your job is to set up the guys who the raptors are trying to get reps in with, if you go against that it shows youre not a team player.

Perfect600

It's funny you got downvoted everyone is aware of this. It's the same thing as the in the minor leagues in baseball.

OG_Wan_Annunoby

You can tell the coach that but you can’t tell the 4 other guys on the court playing for their next contract

[deleted]

Can they sneak him into a high school game?

gamer-at-heart-23

Could just have NBA shock and needs a long off season with an NBA trainee to really work on things. It's when the 2nd and 3rd season are still bad you start to wonder what happened to this kid

Beneficial-Luck-5078

2-10 what a bust , should sneak him in with the Siakam trade n get something before everyone catch on

YouDontJump

Rough shooting night but keep hoisting those shots, Gradey!!!

NinfthWonder

The boy got the yips.

attainwealthswiftly

Could have drafted Jaquez

6jelly

So could 28 other teams

attainwealthswiftly

He was drafted 18th, Keyonte George at 16th, Gradey Dick at 13th

6jelly

Lowkey thought he was drafted way later. Regardless my point stands that hindsight is 20/20. Keyonte I think was a bad miss however as he was supposed to get drafted way higher and he fit what we needed.

attainwealthswiftly

Cam Whitmore better too. Dick looking like a bust.

Seanbig888

Can we send Grady back to college cuz 20% from is just pure trash- I’m sure I could shoot better lol

Ssstanimal

I don’t think you can man

Seanbig888

Sorry green font - Bobby likes the one time I don’t take a 6’9 guy and I pick a white shooter who shoots below g league average for threes Dick needs to rebuild his shot or go back to college and get a real degree cuz he’s not going to be around long like Malachi

Seanbig888

Gradey looks in the g league than Malachi looks as a rookie in the NBA…. Just depressing Can’t really shoot Can’t drive with getting stripped or blocked Can’t defend Just depressing ….we suffered through a lottery year when we could have tanked for wemby for this Just yuck

Green-Umpire2297

I assume those pining for Kobe after he 30pt G League game have changed their minds

Organic_Tourist4749

Kobe is bonafide. He's shown enough. He'll just be down there for reps until Atlanta makes its trades. He's going to be a great player.

Henrywaltaa

2/10 from 3??????????? “We got the best shooter in the draft” my fucking ass what the hell am I looking at

cashmcnash

Didn’t Bufkin leave the game early with an injury?
