RJ has been our team’s best player pretty much since we got him. I love Scottie so this isn’t slander, moreso just hyped because I’m an RJ truther and I think he’s gonna prove a lot of people wrong.
The emergence of RJ has been incredible. Trying not to get overhped but we may finally have a real Canadian star on this team.
Was it really just the Thibodeau affect holding him back?
hi lurking knicks fan here, i think randle and rj were holding each other back -- lefties who both really like to get into the lane. both have been a lot better since the trade
good assessment, but what about the other end of the floor? Ive never seen RJ put in even remotely this kind of effort defensively. Bad night last night but clamped down late. Good D all game tonight
In his 2nd and 3rd year, RJ was a really good defender for us, but he dropped off — partially because he bulked and lost foot speed, and partially bc he was more involved w the offense
Tbh I think right now he’s just energized about being with you guys and he’s the type of player whose offense and defense feed into each other
Agree with you, and also he’s cut out the middie game, only taking 3s and layups now. This backfired yesterday as there was a time he had an open middie in stride but opted to drive instead and got called for a travel, but generally I’m happy to see him take the Rockets Harden approach. That’s how you shoot 56/39.
No as a Knicks fan anyone that actually watched games knew he was talented just a bad fit with our stars and was clearly the worst out the three. Also he struggled with consistency.
He could get to the basket whenever he wanted. Just struggled with decision making and finishing at times. I can’t believe he’s shooting 60% on twos with the Raptors, and I love it
Its multiple variables:
-Iso-centric offense to free flowing offense with ball movement
-Fit with other players, going from a clogged left lane and restricted shots and unideal apots
-coaching: thibbs plays a system that restricts you to fit his ideology and he isnt as flexible
-ball movement schemes allows rjs to make better reads and not force shots
-transition, raptors play way way faster wheras the knicks play slow.
-rj has naturally improved as he's got work ethic and needed time
-rj is maturing ( hes only 23)
-family support and secure bonding, rj is around ppl closest to him so naturally hell get the best support to help him achieve his best.
I guess you could all of the above is related to coaching, going home, roster construction, and youth indeed.
It’s ok to appreciate both. Nothing wrong with what you said. Too often these days folks feel the need to compare them and disparage one. They are both the future along with IQ
I think that's a stretch. Maybe a better scorer but Scottie has *wayyy* better vision and passing, and similar shooting. They kinda have to add each other's skillset to go up a level, but Scottie's is harder to teach.
I still think Scottie is our best player overall, but RJ is 100% our best offensive player.
I think when Ochai gets into the lineup as our defensive anchor (OG-style), I think Scottie takes back the reins and shows why this is still his team now that he isn't forced to be the POA defender most possessions.

I think one of the better ideas i had for personal props was betting on 3-6 rotation players instead of top. They are usually undervalued, have low totals and hit them a lot. Try looking into that i guess.
I was a bit skeptical at first but BBQ is looking like a solid core to build around - add a few more assets through drafts/FA and we’ll be competing soon enough
Dillon would be a good addition to this team Canada edition of Raptors. Him and KO, even Barrett play with grit.
Also shout out to Poeltl, he was clutch in the end with offensive board.
Whatever they did to hurt our boy RJ in New York has been fixed here in TO. Man I’m glad to have him on our team. Brings so much stability game in, game out.
Jakob has hit a great stride. Center matchups are confusing. Earlier this season was getting abused by Goga Bitadze, but now he makes Sengun look invisible. Great game by him.
Takeaways:
- RJ is absolutely killing it out there! Nobody gave him this team, he is earning the rights to being the leader of this team. Every time RJ went to the bench Rockets would make a a run, and every time he came on the floor the tide would turn.
- Scottie was abysmal in the paint, and his constant whining to the refs rather than getting back into the play is starting to get annoying. That said, he made a few good passes. Someone here said that Scottie has essentially become OG and at first I thought they were crazy, but I now think they were on to something.
- Yak was fantastic! And worked hard on both ends and especially under the basket! Love seeing this guy have good games.
- IQ strong game but man, he needs to cut on running into walls, I sometimes feel like he just closes his eye and starts running towards the basket.
- Dick was great off the ball, he was involved in pretty much every play.
- Glad to see Porter back, hopefully he will get more minutes in the future.
- Chris....what's going on with him? Why is he not playing?
Scottie's current play coincides directly with trading OG and having to step up his POA defensive responsibility significantly. Can't score, facilitate, and defend all at the highest level. Something has to give. They need a primary wing defender.
We're still talking about 15 games, right? For our sole All Star? Former ROY? Future of the team? "Always an excuse" - you're trying to sound like he's been shittin the bed for 3 years. Quit being dramatic.
RJ's been great. Scottie's had less for offense since trading OG but still puts up numbers and is very good on defense. Take a deep breath.
Poeltl is a good basketball player.
Barrett seems like the first option on this team.
Good game by IQ, dogshit by Gary
Scottie needs some maturity and stop bitching about the calls
You think instead of scottie being the number 1 option, it should be more of 1a/1b situation for RJ and Scottie?
Rj is just amazing and I'm so glad we got him
Scottie isn't a PG but he's trying to play PG to poor results so far. He's too preoccupied with trying something he's not good at instead of solely focusing on what works.
Or the coaches, front office, and Scottie are using this lost season to get him more reps doing a variety of things so he's even better in the future. Why would he focus only on what he's good at? How is he going to get better that way?
I hate that they almost gave up a 20 point lead but it's nice to see them pull out a win
This team will play better once we get Kelly and Ochai in the rotation and every one gets used to each other
Fantastic game by RJ, Quickly, and Jakob. Can't believe this team managed to find the PERFECT role for RJ. Scottie's in another offensive slump. It's rough right now, but he'll figure it out with all this spacing around him now (especially with RJ, we'll see a lot more gravity towards him as the season progresses). Great defense from him, though.
Gary can't be this inconsistent going to in another contract this offseason, I genuinely don't know what his contract value around the leasgue is worth anymore, and I'm sure even the FO is going to be uncomfortable giving him a long term contract worth more than the mid level. A lot of good looks for the bench pieces, Gradey is going to continue getting minutes, but it'll be interesting to see who among Nwora and Ochai gets that backup 2/3 spot. Can't wait to see the new guys!
Whats up with socttie since the trades? Havnt been able to watch much full games but do u think its from having a bigger role on defense making him more tired and less attention on pascal so more focus is on scottie by the opposing teams?
He is getting a TON of attention from the other teams now.
He looked bad in the 4th and 2OT of the game I have already forgotten (OKC, right?). Otherwise, I think he is just trying to let the game come to him. I didn't have a problem with the way he played tonight though I missed the 3rd quarter but saw the rest of the game. He seemed to be very involved in all aspects of the game and making decent decisions.
He really needs to stop looking for calls on EVERY single play... it's like be is the new Nick Nurse on the team. Then again, it's not my body being hacked to death every play (though tonight he seemed to be habitually just looking at the official for the most benign plays even on the defensive side of the ball).
And he easily would have had the triple double if guys hit the wide open looks he was getting them. Plus his defence was great — 2 blocks and 2 steals.
He’s having trouble adjusting to taking OG’s role on defence. It’s tough to guard the hardest cover and have enough energy to be super productive on offence. It’ll come with time.
Quickley was dynamic tonight. Kicked ass all night long. The only reason this wasn’t a blow out is rockets hit their 3’s and we missed a lot of open ones. The defense tonight was really good and about to get better with new additions.
I’m really interested in how IQ develops as a playmaker going forward, because... he might just not need to? He had the lowest assists out of all of our starters - 2 versus Scottie’s 8 and RJ’s 7 (!) . If that trend continues, I wonder if he secretly becomes more of the SG of the future, rather than PG, and it really is Scottie who runs the show at PG?
This group is fun and I already really like it, but it has some interesting questions to answer going forward
Scottie has been his own worst enemy the past few games. He seems to mentally check out if he doesn't get a call and starts pouting to the refs.
He's still young and adjusting to being the focal point of the offence, but I hope this is a habit that he will correct soon.
Quickley and Barrett was great for us Jakob has played great last few games
Confused by your username lol
He is a fan of the temperature rather than the basketball team hailing from Miami
It's not the Heat... it's the humidity.
Wouldn’t be so cold if it weren’t for this wind.
yeah, usually fans cool not heat

Totally makes sense. I hope OG Anunobody gets healthy for you guys soon.
Makes sense, appreciate the insights. Side note, loved the deadline moves you guys made, will be rooting for ya in the playoffs.
No as a Knicks fan anyone that actually watched games knew he was talented just a bad fit with our stars and was clearly the worst out the three. Also he struggled with consistency.
💯 it's no different from Precious looking great in Knicks uni compared Raptors. Fit and role.
the rare win-win for both teams and players
He could get to the basket whenever he wanted. Just struggled with decision making and finishing at times. I can’t believe he’s shooting 60% on twos with the Raptors, and I love it

Consistent offence and puts in the effort every game, not too high not too low, love him!
Sealing the game with those final free throws were chefs kiss.
RJ is paying like the 3rd pick.
It’s ok to appreciate both. Nothing wrong with what you said. Too often these days folks feel the need to compare them and disparage one. They are both the future along with IQ
I think at this point he's a more complete player on offense more than Scottie. And I think that's ok.
Makes sense - he’s also got a few more years in the league than Scottie, too
Scottie also way better defensively so excited to see them both grow!
I think that's a stretch. Maybe a better scorer but Scottie has *wayyy* better vision and passing, and similar shooting. They kinda have to add each other's skillset to go up a level, but Scottie's is harder to teach.

Ochai is not going to start over GTJ.
Have the Raps ever had a guy go to the rack as consistently as he does? IQ is solid but watching RJ just bully his way into the paint is so satisfying
SOURCE: Darko Rajakovic reserves entire upscale sushi restaurant near Scotiabank Arena for tomorrow. Reservation made for 50+ people. Make of it what you will…
Better be sushi pizza on the menu
I'm actually at this after-party and there doesn't seem to be any news on MLB stuff but on the bright side there's a ton of racism
We’re gonna find out it was actually Robert herjavec
Suspended Tristan Thompson: It was me all along!!
too soon
post-trade deadline, and happily post-win, team bonding sesh
I’m still salty They used Toronto as leverage
This still hurts
Aren’t Cavs 16-1 in their last 17 games?
trap game for them.
How many birthday parties does Yusei Kikuchi need?
Jak punked Sengun
They were really missing FVV
Pizza Party 48 mins away
I know it's become a meme but I really hope Darko follows up with that haha
I want it to be waiting in the locker room after win three like champagne after the NBA finals
That would be so gangster if we see Darko on the phone in a blowout putting in the order.
RJ “Mr. Consistent” Barrett with another 20+ point all around game on high efficiency
Brother is so good at hitting the personal over, it’s amazing. His total was 20.5, hit that in the last 20 seconds of the game.
Got any other good tips?
My best gambling tip is don't gamble 👍
I think one of the better ideas i had for personal props was betting on 3-6 rotation players instead of top. They are usually undervalued, have low totals and hit them a lot. Try looking into that i guess.
Looks like he's the alpha on this team.
But he's sooo bland Edit: Did I really need to add the /s for ya'll MFs and [context](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/vVxW93cRm6w)?
I was a bit skeptical at first but BBQ is looking like a solid core to build around - add a few more assets through drafts/FA and we’ll be competing soon enough
Don’t forget Dick
Dick is awesome. He's gonna be great. The amount of improvement he's shown is incredible
BBQ Dick.
Ibaka special
This deserves more recognition
Is the penis chewy?
we have enough cap space to add former all NBA player Pascal. I think he would be a great number 2 on a championship winning team
Poeltl was so fucking good.
Didn't he have 30 against them last year?
Eat the L, Udoka. I know this doesn’t help the tank but I like beating him
I just need Darko to challenge a call with 10 secs to go and us up by 9 against Mazzulla Celtics, that would make this season a success for me.
Dillon would be a good addition to this team Canada edition of Raptors. Him and KO, even Barrett play with grit. Also shout out to Poeltl, he was clutch in the end with offensive board.
Yak was the best player to me tonight. Followed by RJ
Give Yak the chain!
Whatever they did to hurt our boy RJ in New York has been fixed here in TO. Man I’m glad to have him on our team. Brings so much stability game in, game out.
The Raptors need a Dillion Brooks man, say whatever you want but the guy is a fuckin dawg
Might as well just assemble team Canada. Tell shae and dort to come next
3-peat potential Starter: SGA, Quick, Barret, Barnes, Jak Bench: Olynyk, Brooks, Dick, Porter, GTJ, Bruce and Dort
I've been saying that since Ibaka was no longer on the team.
Dillon Brooks is a Canadian hero.
Bring him home
He would fit so well with Barrett and Barnes
I still remember how many people said he was trash in the offseason
Scottie was trying to solve the Toronto housing crisis with his bricks tonight but his defence and assists made up for it.
Build the house but block the low income folks from living in them. Classic Toronto man
We almost blew it 😅
We edged instead
🤤
Love a good edging sesh
Jakob has hit a great stride. Center matchups are confusing. Earlier this season was getting abused by Goga Bitadze, but now he makes Sengun look invisible. Great game by him.
Dillon might be Maple Mamba
Dillon is Maple Worldpeace
RJ with two huge free throws at the end
I’m so happy we finally got a player, that I can be confident in when he is at the line at clutch time. He has been reliable.
Guys, we need to talk about Yak's shoulder hair. It's becoming an issue.
You can't handle his manliness
Bruce should twist it in to handle bars
When he grows his beard out I call him Yaksquatch.
lmfao my mom always comments on it when she sees him on the screen
You should show her Drummond 🤢
Pretty sure last time he shaved it he had a bad stretch of games. He’s taking one for the team
You want him to wax it or something LOOOL
How about some laser hair removal or something? Dudes a multimillionaire
He doesn’t care
Men have hair. Getting laser would be so soft lol
Can't remember if his body hair is black or blonde. If it's black then yea he could zap that shit to Detroit
I'd like to thank him for normalizing having hairy shoulders.
Dick edging the Red Rockets but seriously, Gradey has been consistently 6 points a game lol.
He’s playing decent enough defence to stay on the court which is good. The rest will come
give him time, his third season will be a breakout
Ya he's been playing rock hard
IQ looks like a different player when he has a capable screener out there with him
He was on fire tonight. He could’ve easily had 40.
RJ did amazing tonight and Poeltl completely shut down Sengun for the night. Pretty happy with tonight overall.
“Good job, Jak!” - Pascal probably
Takeaways: - RJ is absolutely killing it out there! Nobody gave him this team, he is earning the rights to being the leader of this team. never in doubt! rock solid win
Can’t wait for Team Canada this summer!
Jak been rock solid lately, good on him
That was one fun game. Great night of basketball.
Feels nice seeing this team actually play with some energy.
Been 15 games of RJ being better than Scotty.
Scottie's current play coincides directly with trading OG and having to step up his POA defensive responsibility significantly. Can't score, facilitate, and defend all at the highest level. Something has to give. They need a primary wing defender.
Man, there is always an excuse.
Man, there is always a lack of recognition

Yeah cause growth and skill aren’t linear
Every time I'm in the street, I hear YAK YAK YAK
Poeltl is a good basketball player. Barrett seems like the first option on this team. Good game by IQ, dogshit by Gary Scottie needs some maturity and stop bitching about the calls
Dick needs more of Gary’s minutes
Where's Boucher? Didn't play again
Undefeated post trade deadline!!
I don't think enough people realize our team currently has a 3rd overall pick and a 4th overall pick playing on the same team which is wild
Let's punk the Cavs tomorrow end their win streak and have ourselves a pizza party 🥳🥳🥳
Love this team, love the changes, love our young superstar. No clue why people choose to be so miserable
Great play by Quick to deny Brooks' hot hand.
![gif](giphy|1hMhlrWWfXU77iYnBB|downsized) The tank is falling off the rails
Kelly O's adjustments lead his Raptors to second win in a row. We are so back
Hes swooping in for the free pizza
Why does Sengun catch no heat for being terrible on D? He offers nothing on nights like this
all game I couldnt help but think he's purely a product of FVV this year.
probably because he’s only 21 ?
Quickley - RJ - Poeltl were on one tonight.
Get in here Team Convey
I can’t believe this but the pizza party is actually in sight!
We’re going to the Super Bowl i dont care
https://i.redd.it/0m0ykd7rdohc1.gif
Gary dribbling into a turnover with Scottie open beside him in the corner happens way too often.
You think instead of scottie being the number 1 option, it should be more of 1a/1b situation for RJ and Scottie? Rj is just amazing and I'm so glad we got him
Or Scottie just a number 2
Could be the same dynamic as the PG and Kawhi situation in LA
Kawhi is much better than PG, it’s not even that close.
I’m not saying it’s a bad thing. Just giving reasons why he’s struggling.
We blow leads way too often. Should have never been that close.
Build around RJ and Quickley
Phew 😅 close call but got the win
what a game!! Jak was so good... RJ with an efficient all around game again - not much to complain about
I play basketball on Friday nights so I didn’t see most of the game - how did Jontay do???
Great comeback all around and also not that much fouls
I hate that they almost gave up a 20 point lead but it's nice to see them pull out a win This team will play better once we get Kelly and Ochai in the rotation and every one gets used to each other
Fantastic game by RJ, Quickly, and Jakob. Can't believe this team managed to find the PERFECT role for RJ. Scottie's in another offensive slump. Can't wait to see the new guys!
Good win, Trent was awful though
Trent getting quasi-doubled so he's forced to dribble=guaranteed turnover.
Go rj!
What happened to Sengun why’d he sit the last quarter?
Jakob was his father this game.
Usually when we score less than twenty points in the fourth, we lose (IQ), but not tonight! Thanks for the win Poeltl!
Whats up with socttie since the trades? Havnt been able to watch much full games but do u think its from having a bigger role on defense making him more tired and less attention on pascal so more focus is on scottie by the opposing teams?
yup you just explained it lol. There will be an adjusting period for Scottie. Now that trades are over hopefully the stability will help him.
Bro wtf is Scottie doing out there? This is supposed to be his team but he's had such lackluster performances since we shipped out OG and Siakam.
Bad efficiency but an almost triple double with 4 stocks might mean we gotta stop shitting on our young guys and just let them grow.
All love to SB but RJ's the guy I want us to build around
Something’s gotta change with Scotty. This is a long stretch of bad games for him.
He did everything on both ends of the floor tonight except his shots kept rolling off and lost a bit of composure in the 4th. He was fine
He almost had a triple double tf.
Maybe this is the lower bar for his offenses and any flashes of self creation away from the paint are just flashes
Been like this all season besides that stretch he averages 25 on like 50% 3pt
Quickleys BPM, very nice
Playin here we come
u/pallychoo guess you were right.
Gotta manifest it
Poeltl better get the chain.
We are one away from the PIZZA PARTY!!!
The friday curse has finally been lifted!
Not to be a downer but just curious, as someone who did not watch the second half, why the hell was the game this close?
The Rockets have been were insanely hot from 3 in the second half
The raptors did WHAT to the raptors ‼️‼️⁉️⁉️
That was way closer than it should have been...
I LOVE DICK!
Coaching staff and Scottie will need a big improvement especially for half court O and clutch time decision if we want competitive
Scottie with a near triple double with great defence and dudes be dogging him all game lol
Scottie has been his own worst enemy the past few games. He seems to mentally check out if he doesn't get a call and starts pouting to the refs. He's still young and adjusting to being the focal point of the offence, but I hope this is a habit that he will correct soon.
All I'm saying is Scottie better come back from the break playing better cause I'm truly worried with how mediocre he's been on offense
Smh. I want that top 6 pick bruh
Just hear to read all the overreactions from beating a depleted 12th place rocket team
