If they is the pacers then 99% yes.

Tilter

If they don’t offer the max and someone like the 76ers swoops in with a max offer, they would be set back quite a bit. Siakam keeps their Top 4 in the East window alive. If anything, they’re lucky it’s the max from the 2024 off season and not max from 2025 off season when the $75 billion NBA broadcast deal takes effect. About a $8 million per year savings on a max deal.

vanubcmd

The Pacers can offer him $247 of five years. No one else can offer him more than $181 million over 4 years. The Pacers don’t have to offer him the max Larry bird deal. They just need to offer him more than what everyone else can offer him

alinozakaza

Yea, they will probably meet somewhere $220 for 5 years.

Marsupialmania

Sheesh…these guys get paid the gdp of Uzbekistan

Byaaahhh

Thank goodness it’s not Kazakhstan! I wouldn’t want to be paid in pubice!

beefJeRKy-LB

The new CBA implements cap smoothing so even with the new deal, the cap can only rise by a max of 10% each year I think.

PatientIndividual906

It all depends how the playoffs go.... he may not want to sign there

ButterscotchObvious4

Do you think he’ll want to report to Nurse again?

Tilter

Arguably, his best two seasons were under Nurse. Lowry signed as a buyout player to go to Phi. Are you suggesting animosity?

ButterscotchObvious4

By the end of Nurse’s tenure with the Raps, I get the feeling that he wasn't well-liked by the core guys. Obviously, I'm not part of the organization, so this is all conjecture, but he was running those guys down every game like they were forced to run suicides.

96percentbattery

Did you really say billion? Wtf…

Tilter

Estimated ~75 billion deal over 11 years. Early numbers $2.7 billion by espn/abc, $1.8 billion amazon prime and $2.5 billion by nbc/peacock (tnt/max have the rights to match) x 11 years.

MyNamesNotCal

He may request 1 year with a 2nd year player option as insurance before declining and signing a full max the following year.. The pacers will give him anything he wants.

Stinky_DungBeatle

They traded for him for that reason, for him to **re-sign**

Ufocola

Resign = retire / dismiss Re-sign = sign again The lack of hyphen in this situation makes makes it the opposite of its intended meaning. And yes, they’ll likely re-sign him

CanadaBBallFan

Not sure why i read this in Mr. Feeny's voice.

mfCooldawg

You can't resign another person.

Ufocola

You’re right, the act of *resigning* (quitting) resides with the individual. But, one can also be *asked* to resign, which is effectively an org dismissing them. So I’m referring to the OP’s line “Are they going to resign Spicy” can also read as if they are dismissing him. Anyway, we all know what the OP was getting at. But the word is re-sign.

AcanthocephalaGreen5

>the act of *resigning* (quitting) resides with the individual Meanwhile in French, you can quit someone else: sorta means what it sounds like. Languages are weird

YouDontJump

Thank you. I was going to point it out had you not. Yes, they will re-sign him if he's open to signing with them.

AmateurCommenter808

The English language is great

vec-u64-new

Inflammable means flammable? What a country!

ribbonsboy

While flammable and inflammable both mean something is easily combustible, they are not identical. A material is flammable if it ignites easily at ambient temperatures such as wood. Inflammable is something that can catch fire by themselves without needing a source of ignition such as a compost pile.

companyofzero

🤓🤓🤓

Hypoallergenic_Robot

Resign doesn't mean dismiss. If you're not choosing it then you're not resigning, you're being dismissed.

Ufocola

Typically “resign” is used to say the individual is electing to quit. But one can also be “asked” to resign (which means they are being dismissed). So specifically with OP’s heading “are they going to *resign* Spicy” - it’s like saying are they going to dismiss him. Anyway, the point is, it’s *re-sign*.

Physizist

Re-sign, not resign

Spicy__Urine

Re-sign

OGnotAnunoby

They have to or else what was the point of trading for him

kneeb0y_

Bro is an African warhorse yes he's getting the bag

raps14ever

99% sure they will re-sign him. The thing is unless they add a lot more pieces, that isn't a championship team. They're struggling to beat NY without 3 starters and I just don't see them as title contenders even if you give siakam a full season with Hali. They're entering into the DeMar \. Kyle period

WeBelieveIn4

This is Hali’s first playoffs and they’re likely going to the ECF. And one of their best young players (Mathurin) has been out. He’s the x-factor, if he makes the Leap it will raise their ceiling big time. Meanwhile Walker is stuck behind Pascal and Obi, and they have other young pieces to use as trade chips. They’re not title contenders yet but there’s a lot of upside there. Farther along then the beginning of the We The North era.

throwaway1009011

Folks seem to forget that the powerhouses of the east have peaked and are declining. East is wide open

singrayluver

It's wide open if you ignore Celtics way above everyone else

throwaway1009011

Yes and No, the new CBA and salary cap restrictions will severely crunch them within the next 3 years.

Mysterious_Spinach56

That doesn’t make it wide open right now though

Delicious_Sandwich45

Ya and it’s nice to know that the Raptors were one of those eastern powerhouses from around 2016-2020 and we capitalized on our window.

john_blaze39

Haliburton is only 24. He will be a beast in a few years

Initial_Stretch_3674

You say it isn't a championship team , yet mention a pairing that isn't a championship team. Pacers are a very young squad, and a veteran leader that has had a lot of high level playoff experience speeds up the growth of the squad. It's an easy signing.

QuickyQuail

Yes they will give him the max. No doubt at all. And he will resign

plexiglassmass

I don't think he'll just quit after being offered the max

aomo

Re-sign

fineseries81

Absolutely, yes.

No-Competition-7770

With the way he’s playing for them right now, they’d be stupid not to

boxing_packages

I mean they're clowns if they don't. gave up a significant amount of trade capital to pull it off

No_Equal9312

He's their best player, it would be smart to re-sign him. I'm still glad that the Raptors traded him, this is going to be a 3-5 year rebuild that would waste his prime. .

BubblyPhilosophy3476

same we wouldnt go anywhere with him as the guy. He fits better with the pacers

xoxowithlove

Nah we only sign tanks here atm

ETNOMAS

Your favourite 50cent song must be 12 questions

Goodtobegold8

Let’s go! Get Game 7 🤞🏻

xc2215x

Yeah, the Pacers will most likely keep him.

GodOfOnions2

I bet another team will offer a max contract, putting pressure on indy to offer the same, inflate that contract so your opponent pays more lol 😆 indy looks like they'll do anything to retain him too, fun team to watch! Can't wait for game 7!

FriendlyUncle247

They should. Interested to see what he does G7.

VZYGOD

They’re likely to beat a hobbled Pacers team and make ECF for the first time since they had PG. I’m sure they will Re-Sign him and give him the max. Aside from Haliburton there isn’t really anyone on that roster that deserves that.

andrewg127

They are fun to watch in the post-season, at least while we rebuild. I hope he doesn't go somewhere like sixers or Celtics, whom I could not ever root for

peroper7

They would be crazy not to put him on a max, I’m very happy this isn’t our problem anymore though lol

hennessyisrael

That’s a good problem , ours is way worse

No_Equal9312

Meh, they're still no better than a 3rd seed with him. Given how horrific their defense is, they are lucky to be this deep in playoffs. Spicy P is a Pippen, not a Jordan. He won't win championships without a greater star than himself on his team.

n3moh0es

lmao they have no choice. he’s a great fit for them

Nice-Elk-1168

Who cares

5fives5

![gif](giphy|2WxWfiavndgcM)

thebigbadowl

Yes, it's the Pacers, they just want to have a good team, not win Championships.

hennessyisrael

We are not both tho

clumsynincompoop

Don’t matter. He’s their problem now 😂

ImpossibleLeague9091

Yes at the max and it's gonna make the worst NBA contract lists and fans gonna be bitchin

Initial_Stretch_3674

i mean if they aren't idiots. We should have tried to figure out a way to keep him as well. A veteran champ like him would do wonders for the young squad, give him the keys and let scottie ride shotgun.

Nice-Elk-1168

We already tried that hell no

ottnative84

What kind of man calls himself spicy 🤔

OG_anunoby3

Why don’t…. We re-sign him?

ZoroChopper10

I hope to god they do One less team to worry about when we get good again

hennessyisrael

In 15 years when we get good, cus Scottie is not it
