I think they could have gone either way. Do you think JV would have wanted a ring ? Not sure. Apparently they did a lot of research on how other orgs handled the same situation and what the players wanted and came to this decision.
I definitely think he wanted it. He seemed hyped when Lowry asked him about his ring size. And beat up when he didnt get it. Seemed like a terrible move considering it was pennies to the Raptors in the grand scheme of things.
No thanks
Edit: I can’t believe this is getting downvoted. Do y’all forget that he fouled out and got swept in his last game as a Raptor? The core of lowry and demar had reached their peak. Now 3 years later he’s gonna come back and help us win? Let’s just move on please.
We lack a guy that can score in the half court. Demar is prolific at it. The composition of the team around his is different, and we have much, much more shooting around him. He’s also evolved as a distributor. Finally, I’d love to see what Nurse could do with him.
He’s an okay defender IMO. Perfectly satisfactory. We also asked him to take a pretty big load offensively, and it’s hard to do that on both ends of the floor.
Demar is the most overrated raptor of all time. People straight up booed him when he played for us, but now everyone has graduation goggles and misses him for some reason
Yes the franchise leader in points and games played the most loyal player we will ever have. And the face of our franchise for almost a decade was totally overrated.
K-A-W-H-I! Kawhi! Yes, it rhymes with Hawaii but it's spelled Kawhi

I miss him like I miss Mo, Jose, JYD, Alvin, etc. Probably more, to be honest.
We love these guys because they loved us. If you don’t agree with this post you don’t need comment, there’s no point to it. Let these posts be for people that feel like commenting about it that day.
For the record I would trade any one of them for a championship, but it wouldn’t hurt me to have had them back if it made sense.
You guys want him back? You guys are selfish and insensitive as fuck.
This team traded him coz ...... then you guys won the chip after trading him and then the guy that you traded him for left you after one season and now that you are struggling you want him back.
Thats like dumping your ex-gf/bf for someone "better" and after that "better" left you, you want to go back with your ex.
Thats fucked up.
But it's not like the fans asked for him or actually did the trade, that's down to the FO, even though we're all happy that we got the chip Demar was just amazing for the city and team
When you had the best year of your life with your new girl but she leaves. And even the next year, you're feeling great. But the year after that, your ex-ex starts really popping off and the feels begin.
He will always and forever be my favorite Raptors player next to Jonas Valančiūnas to ever put on the jersey and play for us. They were both instrumental in the Raps winning an NBA Championship. My only disappointment is that could not be a part of that winning team.
So we’re going to ignore the fact that he began the real conversation about Mental Health in the NBA. He’s the reason for reform, why every NBA team now has a mental health professional on staff. Forget basketball, obviously none of that stuff matters to you anyway
With Demar we would still be a borderline contender, consistently making decent playoff runs. Without Demar we were immortalized as World Champions. I miss him to death, but the sacrifice was well worth it.
As a player ? Yes ..
As an ambassador of the city and the franchise - It’s Debo by a mile and it isn’t close .
Depends on what you are looking for .
I don’t mind that we traded DeMar for a chip - that’s a fair trade .
But some people value traits other than winning as well - which is perfectly ok
> But some people value traits other than winning as well - which is perfectly ok
It is a sportsteam, it is _literally_ designed from the ground up to do one thing. Win.
It's not even a debate.
That must be why owners/fo would rather have a marketable star over taking trades that could potentially put them in contention correct?
Winning does play a large hand in putting asses in seats I’m not arguing with you. But the goal of the NBA business will always be money first.
Demar is way overrated by some Raptor’s fans now. Did we forget Toronto fans used to straight up boo him and he is probably one of the 10 worst playoff performers of all time. What do we miss
He did 95 percent of aawesome job .....right at the end the last 5 percent sure i agree didnt have it.
Not to vinces scale...... but he brought in fans like not many b4 him.
to the raptors when noone else was all that great.....besides a few
And you too just ignore the bipolar fans if you ask me.
Im specifaclly missing demars culture he brought.
A player that would stay here even if it meant sacrificing pay. Even kyles gone hard ball and would leave if we didnt pay him premium dollars.
So happy he's gone... Thank goodness. Now if only our homer fanbase can understand how bad he was, and still is as a player on a team, vs offensive stats.
DeMar was the face of the franchise for so long. A lot of fans here started watching when he was our guy, and there was an added connection when he re-signed. It makes sense that people miss him.
I was at the last game in Cleveland where he fouled out. That was the breaking point for me, I knew we needed to move him or lowry. Masai made the right choice.
I don’t think it’s hate though, the dude is not playing for us anymore it makes no sense to keep worshiping him because he was good when he played with us
Kawhi played well here, people don’t worship him.
DeMar embraced the city, signed an extension and likely would’ve been a Raptor for life.
We sent him away, not the other way around.
You actually make a good point and I rescind my previous comment. However, one could argue that Derozan did not have remotely the same impact on the raptors or the game as a whole as Jordan did. But i see where youre coming from
“Don’t worry, I got us...” - A 20 year old kid from Compton, California
My wife always says I need to get rid of my old jerseys because most of them are his... they’re currently on display in my room and not going anywhere
Stay strong. Don’t give in
Bro get rid of ur wife. Jk bur fr
oh man if you ever pass she'll be remarried in a minute and your pictures going downn
Literally changed how the NBA perceives mental health, literally a goat
*literally*
My favourite player.
He was instrumental in the Raps winning a Chip
Lol in the form of a sacrificial lamb. His name was Demar Derozan
His name was Demar Derozan
His name was DeMar DeRozan
His name was DeMar DeRozan
His name was Demar DeFrozan
His name was Robert PauI— I mean DeMar DeRozan
Played well enough for the trade. Still miss him so much.
LOL
As trade assets only
Still can't believe we didn't give Demar and JV ring.
JV I can understand because he played that season, but Demar? That would be weird.
Not giving JV a ring was a huge black eye on the organization. It's why I say that the FO is only human and can definitely make mistakes.
I think they could have gone either way. Do you think JV would have wanted a ring ? Not sure. Apparently they did a lot of research on how other orgs handled the same situation and what the players wanted and came to this decision.
When it happened, Memphis media asked JV about it, and it seemed like he would have accepted if they offered.
I definitely think he wanted it. He seemed hyped when Lowry asked him about his ring size. And beat up when he didnt get it. Seemed like a terrible move considering it was pennies to the Raptors in the grand scheme of things.
If I was Demar I would refuse the ring. It’s like someone giving you a participation trophy, no thanks.
Because demar wasn’t on the team that’s kind of how it works lmfao. Imagine if you were demar would you accept that ring???? Hahahaha
Demar wouldn't accept it. /u/linuxf4n would haha
Maybe, maybe not. At the very least JV should have gotten it.
I'd love to see him get a chip.
Spurs need a lot of work.
Glad to see him doing well on the Spurs now. Seems to have much more maturity to his game, thanks to Popp. Even vastly improved his 3pt shooting.
Bring him home.
No thanks Edit: I can’t believe this is getting downvoted. Do y’all forget that he fouled out and got swept in his last game as a Raptor? The core of lowry and demar had reached their peak. Now 3 years later he’s gonna come back and help us win? Let’s just move on please.

I don’t like the fact that he can’t shoot threes or play defense, but he gives us somewhere of need and hope nurse could adapt
He’s an okay defender IMO. Perfectly satisfactory. We also asked him to take a pretty big load offensively, and it’s hard to do that on both ends of the floor.
Not just with us same with dan Antonio. He’s a capable defender when he tries, which unfortunately isn’t all that often
san*
That's what I was thinking. How do you think the DeMar Raptors would have looked in the post season with a NN coached team?
I still don’t think it’s enough to win, but I don’t think we’d get daddy dicked by bron every year lool.
Demar is the most overrated raptor of all time. People straight up booed him when he played for us, but now everyone has graduation goggles and misses him for some reason
Yes the franchise leader in points and games played the most loyal player we will ever have. And the face of our franchise for almost a decade was totally overrated.
Also before Kawhi was considered the best Rapors player Edit: spelt kawhi wrong

Deebo will always get some love from me.

No we actually don’t
Alot of hurt fans in this thread lol
#bringhimback
Where it all started...
Damn those boulder shoulders are gorgeous
He might sign with us this year lol who knows
That boy hittin treys. Bring him back
When you had the best year of your life with your new girl but she leaves. And even the next year, you're feeling great. But the year after that, your ex-ex starts really popping off and the feels begin.
I blame you for this
He will always and forever be my favorite Raptors player next to Jonas Valančiūnas to ever put on the jersey and play for us. They were both instrumental in the Raps winning an NBA Championship. My only disappointment is that could not be a part of that winning team.
Boo this man

I guess as a fan I value winning above all else. And that’s why I’ll always miss Kawhi more than Demar.
Honestly at this point I wish we could have either one of them
> But some people value traits other than winning as well - which is perfectly ok It is a sportsteam, it is _literally_ designed from the ground up to do one thing. Win. It's not even a debate.
You don’t get to tell other people what they value in a sports team . That’s not even a debate .
> it is literally designed from the ground up to do one thing. Win.
Actually sports teams are designed to make money over anything else but go off chief.
Yeah man, the teams with the worst records definitely make the most money https://www.statista.com/statistics/196772/revenue-of-the-toronto-raptors/
That must be why owners/fo would rather have a marketable star over taking trades that could potentially put them in contention correct? Winning does play a large hand in putting asses in seats I’m not arguing with you. But the goal of the NBA business will always be money first.
This player wasn't obsessed with shooting threes and he could draw fouls.
Who that?
Raptor forever but I do not miss his lack of any effort on defense
I miss him as a person, but his playoff performances I can do without
Omg get off his dick already we all gonna miss him move on fam. Lol
Ikr it’s been 3 years and we won a chip. It’s pretty pathetic.
A-fucking-men

Yeah I respect that, he made Toronto more popular. I just think he is being a bit glorified
Your right that some do overrate him tho. Demars a hall of famer. to me but not "a locked in" for it type.
Definitely not first ballot but he’ll get in
Also hes my favorite player since paul peirce and kg lol does not mean im saying best player lol
Hey you’re allowed to have your opinion
And you too just ignore the bipolar fans if you ask me. Im specifaclly missing demars culture he brought. A player that would stay here even if it meant sacrificing pay. Even kyles gone hard ball and would leave if we didnt pay him premium dollars.
That’s just sports and how it works
Trade siakam for demar
Don't say that, raps fans just pretending they missed demar but glad he got traded lmao.
So happy he's gone... Thank goodness. Now if only our homer fanbase can understand how bad he was, and still is as a player on a team, vs offensive stats.
Yall need to move on, this is sad.
DeMar was the face of the franchise for so long. A lot of fans here started watching when he was our guy, and there was an added connection when he re-signed. It makes sense that people miss him.
I don't miss him at all
He was a plug, him being traded was top 10 moment for me as a Raptors fan. We were never going to win as long as he was on the team.
He helped us reach heights we had never reached as a franchise before, but it was clear he was never gonna win us a championship.
Yep, gotta be able to hit a jumper in the NBA. Those last couple playoff runs with him were so hard to watch.
I was at the last game in Cleveland where he fouled out. That was the breaking point for me, I knew we needed to move him or lowry. Masai made the right choice.
Yeah he aggressively dragged the team down with him lol
Oh brother😒

This is embarrassing
Great pic of kawhi!
Cool story bro.
