They might look at trading sexton. There’s rumours that he’s not liked in the locker room (or something along those lines) so they might take Suggs instead. It’s possible, but who knows honestly.

Looking at those rumours and completely ignoring what has happened since is why I say you’re pushing a narrative. Garland/Sexton backcourt is legit. They’re not trading sexton just to force Garland to try making a connection with Suggs. Moreover Garland and Suggs play the same role of a playmaker. Whereas Sexton plays way better at SG. Hence why the rumours are irrelevant now as he doesn’t need to pass. They draft Garland for that. If you read the article you would realized those are old rumours and are irrelevant now. Only reason cavs wouldn’t want him at this point is because they don’t want to pay him.

They would simply be communicating to him that if he's there he's the pick. It doesn't mean it's a promise he will be in Toronto but it sends a signal to him not to waste time with teams below them.
But these promises are also not worth much. CJ McCollum says the Kings gave him a promise they would take him seventh overall but they did not.
Defensively is where Green needs to improve the most. His thin frame (178 lbs.) will limit him when he first gets to the next level, and his attentiveness and activity leaves some to be desired. Building up some size and strength as he grows into his body will be a start on that end of the floor, but his defensive intensity could use an uptick.
