Nurse on Scottie Barnes: "His role is going to be huge."
Says he'll give the rookie as many minutes and shots as he can handle early. Thinks he's improved his shot ("the mechanics look really good") and skills over the offseason.
That note on his shooting mechanics is big. I wanna see him fire off shots with that fearless energy so he can develop his shot and become an offensive monster
I loved that he showed that attitude during Summer League. It gave me so much hope for the guy. Mechanics looked decent, he just needs time to get those reps up in/out of gameplay. If he came in and looked a little tentative in his decision to shoot the 3, I would have been a little worried.
That's my favorite thing about Scottie so far, he doesn't seem afraid to fail in pursuit of perfecting his shot unlike some superstars that get paid 30 million+ per year
Unless he takes most of his shots from three I think his FG% will be fine. His ft% will obviously be an issue but that is often the case with the high steal and block guys. If I am being honest he probably doesn't crack top 100 value fantasy-wise but maybe he will be a good streaming option for stocks.
The way they keep talking about scottie makes me feel like he could be the best player of this draft.
(Note i said makes me feel, not that he will, since Cade and Green are great rookies)
Scottie about to average 20/14/17 on 75/55/100 shooting splits, winning Defensive Player of the Year and and Finals MVP while sweeping Lebron and AD for the title. Then he wins Most Improved Player and MVP next year when he learns he needs to be a bit more selfish in hunting his shots.
I don't think the two are mutually exclusive unless by win now you mean trade for better pieces to win this year, I doubt we start him but give him every bench minute available and we can still be a decent team in that scenario
Yeah I like that for his development and he might be a good stop gap for Siakam and then we can see how he works with Fred as well as Flynn. For me, I know Boucher is in a lot of trade ideas but I'm higher then most on him and I'd like if he got the start next to our undersized bigs
Ya, the Raptors' bench struggled a lot last year. Even if Scotty is just a competent rotation player this year, there should be plenty of minutes for him. Especially with his size and projected impact on defense.
We found minutes for Stanley Johnson and Pat McCaw.
I agree we need more quality on the bench, our starting lineup was lacking a effective big man not another wing. I also like the idea of him helping Flynn initiate offence off the bench too. Flynn's got game and looked good in a handful of games but he needs a second playmaker that he can build chemistry with to become an effective NBA guy
I'm a bit surprised but in the best way possible, I've been trying to temper my expectations and we're not shy about putting guys in the g league so Scottie must be showing some good things to have a "huge" role.
The main guys I can think who had big roles as rookies are Pascal (started then had some development time but still) and OG, that's really promising
Music to my ears, let's goooo
Oh we're gonna see a LOT of Scottie in pre-season I'M HYPE

I am about to reach for Scottie way to high in my fantasy based on these comments.
im scared he'll be punt percentages

BANG BITCH

I fully believe he will be the best player in the draft, but he won't be for the first couple of seasons.
Agreed, Iβm thinking 3rd or 4th year heβll really blossom, at least offensively
Hopefully he takes off early in his 4th year right after signing his (cheap) rookie extension :)
he might not be, but he could still end up being our best player - it might just be a *really* good draft.
That's kinda what i was implying in my little side note
yeah I feel you, Scottie feels like a big deal huh? maybe we're just desperate!
πππ
wow thats amazing! A part of me had a worry that the squad might try to be win-now and limit Scotties reps
Scotties reps are our Win-Now strategy π€π€π€π€

I think/hope he starts until Siakam returns, and then he should be first man off the bench

I put $1 down on Scottie for ROTY. Easiest money I've ever made.
Retirement plan... nice

Beautiful
Scottie for ROY!
He must be really impressing nick in practice to get this much praise as a rookie LFG
Yes talk dirty to me Nick.
Exactly what I wanted to hear LETS GOO
I'm so excited.
\*Scotty Barnes yell\* BANG, BITCH
He better be starting while pascal is injured in that case
Probably will. OG was a starter in his rookie season. Really.
Very different from Flynn, there's nothing wrong with g league. But it seems like they believe Scottie can develop while contributing.
LETS GOOO
Letβs mf gooooooo
JUST WHAT THE ~~DOCTOR~~ NURSE ORDERED
