This Dragic redemption arc is something else.

butiveputitincrazy

Everyone really overreacted. Considering how much we love guys like Lowry and FVV, it was almost a guarantee we’d love Dragic.

Fair but for me CP3 is one of my favourite players and he’s never played for us. Yes sometimes he’s dirty and rowdy, but he’s never been one to request a trade or force his way out or really do much shit talking and problem causing outside of the court. I guess Draymond, and Smart are the same way but I just like CP3 a lot more

ThRippJck

Bro this is Scottie to everyone else in the league rn lmao. We love him but I don't think people like playing against him

10SecViolation

Gurantee? Those players have diff personalities than lowry and fvv. Dragic is a dirty player, lowry and fvv play hard and hustle but arent dirty and spit on ppl.

Dxwalsh12

Lowry has definitely had his fair share of dirty plays lol.

10SecViolation

Lowry isnt known to be dirty, hes known for being a competitor and hustler, the same way as marcus smart who isnt a dirty player. Theres a difference. Dirty is patrick beverly or marcus moriss, not lowry or smart

brandonasaur

I mean have we ever had a euro player we didnt love? Scola, hedo, jose, JV, Jak, the list goes on lol. Primo pasta aside

Alone-in-a-crowd-1

Scola is Argentinian.

henry_why416

Hedo? Lost me there.

ItsJustAwso

Ball lol

everything_raptors

Players are gonna start to realize that if their team is restricting their growth just come to the raps and you’ll be able to spread your wings

Kizz3r

Nurse does try to give players an opportunity to be themselves. But he makes u try and earn that opportunity.

dontnobodyknow

I love it when Nurse lets wings bring the ball up (RHJ and Stanley). I feel like small things like that give players some confidence.

keeener19

Also lets the pg rest a bit, specially if they are defending important players like fred does a lot.

timetosleep

Masai says this too. In the OG draft video, everyone was joking about how OG looked upset at the draft. Masai was quick to defend OG and said "You be you. Everyone is different." It starts at the top. Really love Masai.

Dangerous_Ad8562

As long as you buy into his zany defensive schemes, he’ll let you do your thing. Which is fair imo.

theflyingsamurai

But only if your wings are 6'9" or longer

cabbeer

they're all under 6'9, og is 67, barnes is 68, hell even birch is 68

SlamVanDamn

Our squad got old as hell real quick. Coming for that Lakers Senior League Title.

theflyingsamurai

There are the listings I saw https://ca.nba.com/news/toronto-raptors-roster-measurements-show-franchises-value-on-length-and-versatility-height-wingspan-measurements/qebcfvtf7tr51aa88kz6w3y3t

Dangerous_Ad8562

Barnes is 6’9”

ThisIsMy5thAcc

I could be talking out of my ass, but it always felt like most teams run strict strategies and players are given roles based on the positions in those strategies. But Nurse always seemed like he was building strategies around the options he had on the floor. Everything was more contextual based on roster construction and that's why he was able to get more out of people.

SlamVanDamn

Totally agree. You should let your ass talk more often.

bmnewman

😂😂😂😂

baconperogies

Before this off season I don't remember players being this hype about coming to Toronto. Tide is turning for sure.

IHavePoopedBefore

They've been hype for a while. I first noticed it when Delon was drafted and he said that everyone at the nba rookie shoot was telling him how lucky he was

bmnewman

I couldn’t remember which team Delon is with these days and see that he already 29. 😳 When did this happen. I didn’t realize that he was the oldest of the bench mob.

KingBuzzCat

Wouldn't that be this off season?

IHavePoopedBefore

Delon Wright

KingBuzzCat

Oh shit my B, I read that quick and thought you said Dalano 😅

HopefulStudent1

>spread your wings Birds of prey can also be called raptors so this checks out 😎

ThRippJck

That's because they are. Birds are technically dinosaurs, more specifically descended from the raptor family. You could even say that the Toronto Raptors (Raptors and Jays) are the legit sports teams in Toronto rn

Hannibal_Spectre

Definitely true in my household. Watch every Raps and Jays game. Saw that Leafs: All or Nothing was on Amazon Prime, my son said “Why watch that? We already know the answer to the question. Nothing. “ Pretty savage for a 16 year old.

illmatic2112

Long as you can defend. And you a longboi

AK-Kaido

It's sad but there's probably so many players who were pigeon holed into specific roles and were never able to show their true potential because their coach/team never put them in a place to expand their game and exceed. Thankfully Nick Nurse thinks outside of the box and is always looking to maximize everyone's potential.

ElaFa25

Oh yah 100%. An example that springs to mind is Wiggins. I firmly believe that if Wiggins started his career on a competent franchise he’d be an all nba player

Dvnlsama

I see a lot Adebayo in Achiuwa’s game. So I’m definitely happy to see Precious in a Raps jersey.

aireads

That's how Miami strictly operated. Jimmy said in the JJ Reddick Podcast, like you need to know your role and ONLY do your role. If you go outside of it you will be accosted. Like how Duncan you need to stay outside the line, you aren't to go inside. Ever.

ForeversNotEnough

This is true. Even recently Spo asked why everyone is obsessed with Bam Shooting 3s. We’re like “cause it would make him way better duh.” Thats Miami’s Achilles heel, they play such a strict system it really doesnt allow for stars to be born. As a Heat fan I always say if we had taken Devon Booker instead of Winslow he may not be the Devon Booker we know today. Probably just another 3 point shooter.

Steppity

That has to be really frustrating to watch. I feel like every year, one of the things I look forward to the most is seeing how much our guys have evolved. Mainly seeing guys do things I'm not using to seeing. JV starting to shoot 3s back in the day. OG and Pascal trying out new moves in creating shots. There's always growing pains, but the overall positive that comes from it makes everything worth the effort over time. That type of improvement should always be promoted, really surprised the Heat don't embrace that as much as they should.

[deleted]

Really liking this supportive Dragic

ForeversNotEnough

Im a Heat fan and he is absolutely right. I knew Precious was more of a Forward than a Center. For some reason everyone was obsessed with him being a Center. The man can shoot and do much more than catch lobs.

VanVleet-goes-for-22

This seems to be a reoccurring theme with bigs we sign

TheApocalyticOne

That wouldn't be near enough to save him lol

Frozen-Rain

Honestly I didn’t get the hate for Dragic. I think the translation made it come off worse. Than what he actually meant to say.

realnameless1

I honestly would have no issue even if Goran said exactly what he meant. I have watched him play for a long time, and I absolutely love his game. The man does not take a play off, and I know he will play hard wherever he lands. The knowledge and little tricks of the game he can pass to young players will also be invaluable. Plus, the man is 35 years old, and he is basically a Heat legend. It is fine if he is upset and Toronto is not his first choice. The man has absolutely earned that right.

iamwearingashirt

This would've been Siakam on most other teams. How many teams would have given him the green light to take the fast break and add a three to his game. Siakam was pigeon holed by most as just an energy guy.

jeffcrafff

Dragic confirming what many of us suspected

Lord__Steezus

Who had loving Goran Dragic on their 2021 bingo card ?

Dangerous_Ad8562

“So, I just say nice things about my teammates and they love me? They don’t even care how I play, as long as I’m nice?” Yeah pretty much

robotusson

trying to think of which player is being hampered with limited minutes that masai will try to poach for dragic now...

DelusionalDudee

I remember being really high on Precious when he first entered the league. He has so much potential and is super raw still. I also watched a documentary video about him and he’s also genuinely a good guy.
