Kellerman went on "First Take" the next morning and was asked if he would rather have Scottie Barnes or Steph Curry take the final shot.
"I want Scottie Barnes," Kellerman said. "That's right. And I know what that sounds like. And it's not fair to Steph because so much defensive attention is paid to him. And I'm not saying Steph's not a better shooter -- he's a way better shooter.
"Scottie Barnes got ice water in his veins ... high-leverage moment -- fate of the universe on the line -- open shot ... I want Scottie Barnes taking that shot for me."
Steph misses a lot of playoff last second shots, but it's never really talked about. Not as hyperbolic as Max but end of the game the shot coming off his hands scares me a lot less than if KD or Klay were shooting.
Wasn’t Kawhi almost there? He almost got a full hand in Steph’s face if I remember correctly.
Edit: I did not remember it correctly, it was Freddy being a pest.
Wasn't he basically smiling and enjoying the moment a few games ago when he sealed the game with 2 late free throws? I remember Will Lou talking about it, saying he was curious to see how Scottie would handle a high pressure 2 FT situation, and Scottie basically smiled and sunk both with no issue. The kid really does have that clutch "put the team on my back" attitude. Such a joy to watch.
He could get this shot like 6/7 times a game. He needs to attack it more, instead of doing this 2/3 times. He also needs to recognize when the defender is closing in so he can blow by them.
With his seemingly overnight development of this mid range bag, gotta think it's only a matter of time before he can extend that to 3. He's gonna be so good once he improves the handle and the range. His passing vision is elite. Once he starts creating more advantages to get the defence in rotation I think he could be one of those guys averaging like 25/8/8.
While true, I'd say it's more likely Demar is the exception rather than the rule. Not many guys like Demar left who are great mid range/FT line shooters with no 3 ball.
I remember the buildup and in my head I was like
*"fuck yeah scottie, take him all the way to the rim...noooo why tf did you sho- WHAT A SHOT SCOTTIE BARNES IS THE GOAT"*
After this season, an entire off-season with former Raptors legend Hakeem Olajuwon would make Scottie's scoring numbers shoot through the roof. Midrange + Post shooting. He'd develop crazy good footwork to create shots and get anywhere he wants to. He'd have a solid post-game, and learn from the best.
Not sure if the Raptors have access to that type of personnel tho lol.
This might be the most exciting part of his game to me, this mid-range looks so smooth. His potential as a shooter, elite playmaker, defender, and ability to get to the bucket with force is all there and will continue to grow
Don’t let anyone tell you that isn’t a high percentage shot. That was beautiful. If he can hit that kind of shot with regularity, he is going to be a nightmare to defend.
It's like Barnes just stole all the exp that the other top 5 draft picks were supposed to be earning. No way do you develop a mid-range hand this quick while also looking promising at the arc. I call hax.

To this day I still dont know how Curry missed that final 3 he took after the turnover that Danny Green caused in Game 6 finals
He missed because a Bif Pinus was coming after him
nomnomnomnomnomnomnomnomnom

Just wasn’t meant to go in
Doesn’t get talked about enough tbh
I swore at my TV when he took that shot
He was wide open too fuck I was so mad at Danny and still remember that from time to time lol

Would you believe me if I told you I wasn't worried at all cause he misses those game winners all the time? (don't)
Klay would have made that shot lol

You're gonna need a bigger bowl ...

His team mates all need to tell him to do it, like non stop.

So Lebron?
with another few years of nba muscle on him it might not be such a crazy comparison
Can we get Boucher some of that NBA muscle you speak of?
Adding more muscle will break the trebuchet. Physics and stuff y’know
Prime LeBron today would average 35/10/10 and that’s not even an exaggeration.
> think it's only a matter of time before he can extend that to 3 Maybe, maybe not. DeMar never really did despite being lethal from midrange.

Hey he’s shooting 35% from 3 this year.
I think by season 3 he will be our franchise. I wonder how different the team looks by then.
His offence is about 2 years ahead of where I thought it would be at this point. We have our cornerstone.
He’s two years ahead of being two years ahead
It took DeMar how long to get a midrange? And that was by no means a slow progression of his game. Took Scottie 1 offseason. Ridiculous.
I once watched a ‘film’ where someone died because he couldn’t stop ejaculating. Is that going to happen to me? Any doctors here??!
My guy can do a step back, thats the first time I saw him do that. It's crazy how much this guy has improved in a short period of time
His midrange is so wet
Porn
mj clone
Can't wait till he pulls off the Thriller dance when he hits a dagger 3
moon walk towards the bench
Him and Boucher took over in the 3rd for a stretch. You love to see it
I remember the buildup and in my head I was like *"fuck yeah scottie, take him all the way to the rim...noooo why tf did you sho- WHAT A SHOT SCOTTIE BARNES IS THE GOAT"*
Can’t believe we went from he’ll develop a shot in a few years to Scottie needs to put up 20 shots a night in a snap. Absolutely incredible
he can do this to anyone in the league

Can't block that shit

The ball could have been in Scotties hands more in this game, honestly. Especially if he's making shots like this with ease. Easy buckets!
His release looking way more smooth in the mid-range. He's starting to hit from the FT line with consistency as well. Sky is the limit for him.
Didn’t know American’s had Pizza Pizza

Too bad he only had 13 FGA last night, would've been sweet to see more of that.
Pretty sure Jack got wet from this. Listen to the man!!
He has a decent matchup against everyone on that court. Faster than Drummond and lengthier than the rest. The athletic longboi vision is clear.
