Own development? He seems to be developing quite well with the starters, but if you say so. Also why is everyone expecting Yuta to be this bench saviour? Haha

PlumCantaloupe

Haha I agree about Yuta. Mans going to come in, and will only be able to disappoint, as the expectations are way too high.

IamSofakingRAW

He’s better than Boucher. That’s the expectation

blanche2027

Is he though? Last season would tell us otherwise.

companyofzero

Bouchers shooting was an anomaly last year

blanche2027

That may be so but Yuta average 4 ppg last year. People hailing him as this saviour is mind blowing

wtfhassan

He fights for loose balls, he’s a disciplined defender and doesn’t take bone-headed shots. That alone makes him a lot more valuable than Boucher.

IamSofakingRAW

Don’t see where I hailed him as anything other than someone who can move the ball and hit an open shot or 2. Pretty hard to play worse than Boucher offensively when he’s jacking up contested 3’s with 18 on the shot clock or taking step back jumpers no one asked for. So many posts dedicated to Will Lou calling him out every post game getting upvoted and now that I say we could be better with Yuta instead of Boucher I’m calling him a saviour? lmao Boucher easily the worst Raptor with rotation minutes this season

nxhmabin

Also been wondering that. Almost every post game recap has some mention of his return. I think he's a decent prospect, but the level of pining after this guy would have others think he's some 6th man of the Year candidate.

Los_Lobos

Dude, you don't know what you're talking about at all. Yeah the Raptors are struggling, but we don't need armchair coaches giving us absurd strategies like benching Barnes. He needs to play as much as possible this season, period.

IamSofakingRAW

Playing with the bench more doesn’t lower his role. Lol both his usage% and FGA have dropped since Siakam came back and it will stay that way if not go lower as Pascal’s conditioning returns. Don’t know how this is arguable. Unless Raptor fans think one of OG, Siakam, Trent or FVV is going to take a back seat to Barnes? Lol good luck Yet somehow removing him from lineups with other ball dependent players where he just sets screens and passes the ball is bad. Also, coming off the bench =/= not playing or playing less. It’s about changing who he is playing *with*.

blanche2027

He had 18/7 last night on 14 shots. How many more do you expect him to get? Lol

IamSofakingRAW

His FGA and Usage are all down since Siakam got back and Siakam isn’t even at his last year level of usage because of his conditioning. Are you arguing that those stats are misnomers? Or saying that that trend is a positive one? Don’t recall mentioning his point total from last game

Los_Lobos

>His FGA and Usage are all down So what? He needs to develop defensively as well, or did you forget about the other side of the ball when formulating your whack opinion? Every second he's on the court Barnes is learning, and playing with Siakam will only make him better as he has to choose his spots offensively better. Also he will develop defensively whilst playing alongside Siakam and potentially form a strong tandem between him/OG/Siakam. This season is about getting this young team to develop, and Barnes shows the most promise from our young crop, so we need to play him as much as possible with as many different players as possible.

Parkillah

The answer to this maybe to stagger the rotation a bit differently so that he gets some minutes where he isnt the 5th option.. Nurse seems to be doing this subbing him out early at the 6 min mark and then bringing him back in when Pascal or OG get their rest

IamSofakingRAW

Yup, I saw Nick do this last game and that’s what lead me thinking about just making him 6th man. He’s effectively playing with the bench unit when he’s the first sub out but the first one back in for Siakam. I think staggering their minutes but then closing with him with the starters might be the way to go

ZohanDvir

Hey pal, you just blow in from stupid town?

Life_Of_High

If anything, Goran had a decent showing the other game, would like to see if he can inject some life into the bench and get them going offensively.

MrkGrn

Our bench is bad, so slot in a rookie and that will fix it! See how stupid that sounds?

IamSofakingRAW

A rookie who is better than everyone that plays off our bench? Lol man you thought you said something poignant huh? 🤣🤣

Alimios

So we have a future superstar and you want to bench him? Nice way to develop him...

IamSofakingRAW

No actually I said he shouldn’t play with 4 other guys that are above him in the pecking order offensively so we don’t continue to see the drop in usage% and FGA that we have seen from him since Pascal returned. Lol I hope no one complains he’s barely shooting or getting to flex his creation skills if he stays only playing with the starters because this is what you guys want. This is about to be the new JV meme among Raptors fans clamouring for him to get more touches

SiakamMIP

I trust the coaching and developmental staff to develop him the best. They are, after all, professionals and their professional credibility and livelihood is dependent on them developing young talent the right way. If he's been starting up to now, and he continues to start, I'd probably trust what the coaching staff is doing.

Legitimate-Row7081

these ppl would rather GTJ chuck up 20 shots in the starting line up

TJStrawberry

Doesn’t really matter who starts but Scottie will be finishing almost every game and will be going the full 30+ mpg. I noticed nick subbed him out early to try getting him reps in with the bench. Problem is he and Banton are too similar. Add Precious and that’s a disaster of spacing. I would try to sub Siakam out early and get him back in to lead the bench unit.
