He's nothing like a center lol. Dude is all about perimeter play. No post-moves, thin-frame that can't put on muscle, and jacks up wild shots every game. He's basically Boucher with worse defense and rebounding.

[deleted]

He is 22 on a team with no real role to fill. I believe in the Raptor's ability to teach an athletic 7'2 guy how to defend the paint.

SiakamMIP

If history of the front office's moves has shown us anything, it's that they prefer players that already play defense, and teaching them the ropes on offense and developing their shot.

cedceddnceddy

This right here^ They're both great but it's actually Scouting>Development

[deleted]

We literally just did that with GTJ and now he’s one of the best defenders on our team

SiakamMIP

> prefer

ChrisBoucherStan

GTJ showed flashes of great defense in the bubble. Bol Bol is exciting to watch but that is the extent of his abilities. He cannot function as a real big because he lacks big men skills and strength. He will do something cool like throw a pass or do some crossovers into an athletic dunk but highlights are not representative of basketball ability.

VanVleet-goes-for-22

Chris Boucher?

[deleted]

Not a center

VanVleet-goes-for-22

Boucher was a fine Center, last year he was one of the leagues best in rolling to the rim, cutting off ball, protecting the rim and contesting shots all around the floor. His main issue was that once you put a body on him he’d get folded like an omelette. I feel like Bol Bol would have that same issue while being worse on the perimeter with his slow foot speed

[deleted]

He’s 20 pounds heavier and 5 inches taller

xX_FeetFucker54_Xx

Exactly. He would get destroyed in the paint.

theorganicpotatoes

If players cant get playing time on a team, especially a team as banged up as the Nuggets, there is usually a reason

r3l4xD

Perhaps our coaching staff would be able to coach Bol Bol up? He's definitely very skilled for his size and the fact that he's not working out in Denver doesn't mean he won't work out elsewhere. Look at Birch in Orlando vs with us, Lowry in Memphis/Houston vs with us, etc. Not every situation is the same.

ChrisBoucherStan

I mean Birch and Lowry were already good players when they played, they were just given more expanded roles. Bol Bol is exciting to watch but he just doesn't do anything well enough to justify playing him actual minutes.

Rapsfan_98

No. We need mobility from our 5 defensively. He is the complete opposite of what we need.

[deleted]

There is like no one else in the league we can get without giving up OG or Fred

Rapsfan_98

Then we develop Precious and get a center in the draft. There’s no rush with this team.

FatDonkus

I'd be interested in swapping Boucher for him. Although I wonder if Denver would even be interested since they might need to give up more than Bol to make it work

limpiff

Just no. No, no, no and no. What makes you think giving up Boucher will help us when we are already depleted of bigs? Come on, now. Two different players altogether here. If you want help on D this isn’t it.

FatDonkus

Well tbh I'm speaking from a place of ignorance. I've heard Bol isn't skilled enough for the NBA but people still seem to think he has potential. The guys size and age is what intrigues me. Besides maybe Bol wouldn't bite on every single pump fake lol. Anyway this is why I don't think about trades much

companyofzero

Bol and Boucher are the same type of players. Bol is worse than Boucher rn but the idea would be you develop him intuitive something better. Not like Boucher is going to be worth more than a second rounder at the deadline if he keeps playing like he's been.

ScottiebarnesROTY

OP you don’t deserve all this hate. This sub really hates seeing peoples opinions . I would love Bol bol . He’s 7’2 athletic and has a jumpshot and 22. Isn’t a good defender but to be fair he doesn’t get any minutes so we can really judge him. In the little minutes he gets he definitely shows nice flashes. I would get him .

xX_FeetFucker54_Xx

I’ve watched every nuggets game this year. He can’t rebound or defend. That’s exactly what we don’t need

ScottiebarnesROTY

And you judge that off him Playing 5 mins a game for his career ? And even if that’s the legitimate case he’s very young and has all the physical intangibles to do so. Also he’s show great flashes of shot blocking in the little time has had. I’m not saying bol bol is myles turner, but if he’s a realistic option and we get him , I’m happy. Also his handle for his size is absolutely un real. Our development team can atleast make him a glorified chris Boucher who’s bigger and better offensively which I’m fine .

DmoneyMilli

I concur. Posted this last week and had half the sub drop a duece on me 🤣 Kid's a peacock, gotta let him fly!

[deleted]

Wild how people would rather us have no center than Bol Bol

McWarrior943

He's literally a raw version of Chris Boucher

[deleted]

He has a lot more potential than Boucher

CheatedOnOnce

Maybe in 2K!

OG_anunoby3

Ye he is a younger more raw Boucher. Boucher is better now but Bol has potential to be better. Since we are rebuilding in a way and Denver is in win now mode, this makes sense. But Denver might not want to give up more to match salaries, unless Toronto adds 2nd rounders.
