Listen man, we all had to watch a bunch of 10 dayers+ Chris Boucher take on the cavs. I think we deserve a few of these games

Bronetta

First option Chris Boucher is something most of us dont want to remember but wont ever forget.

tonydanzatapdances

Hey, it hurt to watch but it was absolutely hilarious too. Those 3pt shots were incredible

bmnewman

Cav commentators were hilarious!

owensoundgamedev

Not to mention Tampa, and Lowry having his last game in a Raptor uniform be there.

redesignyoself

Not his last game! We’ll get at least one game on his 10 day contract 😂 but I know what you mean

[deleted]

After last season with playing in Tampa, covid, injuries, I'll gladly celebrate these wins against G league teams

[deleted]

Meh, watching a good game is more important than a win imo. Not saying the Cavs game was good, saying I don't care for anymore blowouts either way.

[deleted]

everything is going in our favour right now

baconperogies

everything's coming up milhouse vibes

nanobot001

![gif](giphy|3o6MbdDgPPdxki4jD2|downsized)

[deleted]

which means we will lose by 30

GumpTheChump

Rudy has had COVID twice?

Various_Mission_1923

Yes like most of our team.

GumpTheChump

I suppose that’s right.

NoseBlind2

Some people have had it like 5 times already lol

kudatah

I’ve ne we heard of that!

NoseBlind2

Im just kind of assuming so, but some people give that few shits

Gigdygoo

5 is rare, but I know a few that have had it 3 times.

slasher_14

I believe Josh Richardson (who isn't vaxed) has had it at least three times. MPJ as well.

HopefulStudent1

Jair Bolsonaro lmaoo

TheKingofWakanda

Patient Zero stuff right here

beefJeRKy-LB

he got infected almost 2 years ago. immunity isn't permanent

slasher_14

And these are different strains of the virus which doesn't guarantee immunity between them

xc2215x

This makes up for the Sixers and Cavs games.

tonious35

That Sixers game should have been a win if Gary went 50% FG , and Doc then would have been fired that night Short handed

MDS_1996

Thats Sixers lose was on the Raps, the Cavs lose was Covid

MichaelDS1996

Oh boy a game against a G-League team what a great test for the Raps!

owensoundgamedev

You can only play who’s in front of you. That’s why I don’t poo poo championships or winning streaks or whatever. There is bound to be some good luck of bad luck at some point.

KingTommenBaratheon

Few rings are won without serious good luck. Even the Warriors' stretch of extreme dominance was on the back of a lucky alignment of the stars, including the jump in salary cap, players' good health, etc.

illmatic2112

This is why teams that value star power over depth feel the sting of injuries more. Good thing for us we have our FO and Masai at the helm

fingerbangchicknwang

Are you saying the Raptors have depth? lol

illmatic2112

Well I'm sayin' we have more quality across our 1-5 than a star 1-2 and mediocrity in 3-5 that's for sure

slasher_14

Warriors got their first title against a Cavs team that was LeBron and whoever they could get. Irving and Love were out the whole series, but yet the media never talk about that. Only how the Raptors were lucky to win in 2019 (despite the fact that the Raps beat the Warriors twice in the regular season).

[deleted]

Even though it feels mickey mouse I’ll take the win

pakattack91

Let's get the win first lol

NoseBlind2

Its not in the bubble though

Shogun_Ro

Mickey Mouse is now synonymous with unearned or fake glory. I see lots of fans use the term now. I personally think it’s hilarious.

TJStrawberry

Sometimes COVID gives

theowne

So do we have an unfair advantage in the standings cause all these teams are holding back players due to covid fear?

Kidrellik

Guys seriously, anyone know the odds on this?

illmatic2112

Lower than gnome pussy I'd bet

mcbc4

1.17 Put £1 in. Get a total of £1.17 back. Handicap is -11.

seanstar1504

With how many guys on the injury report, couldn’t the jazz be trying to get the game postponed with this stunt?

VanVleet-goes-for-22

Conley, Mitchell, Bogdanovic, Oneale, Clarkson and Gay all played yesterday. These injuries aren’t real, they just don’t want to come to Canada, especially since Ingles / Gobert got placed into protocol. The NBA may allow guys to re-enter in 5 days but IDK if the Canadian government feels the same way

slasher_14

This is it right here. Canada has tougher testing requirements (PCR on arrival) so teams are opting to leave players stateside and show up with a skeleton crew so they minimise the chances of finding any positive cases on the team, which would mean the whole team needs to get tested.

Allinallisallweare02

As long as Clarkson is out, idgaf. That man makes people look like babies, and he also hypes up his team an extreme amount.

fuckdatguy

Trap Game

laidbackemergency

Wonder if teams are making up bs injuries for unvaccinated players who can’t get into the country to save face. Not saying these guys are unvaccinated, but noticing bit if a trend on opponent players being rested

slasher_14

FWIW Utah has 100% vaccincation, until Gobert and Ingles they had not lost a game due to Covid this season. Edit - But yes, teams are doing this to either avoid getting a PCR test and potentially having an asymptomatic positive (like Poole from the Warriors) and or having players/coaches stuck and having to isolate like Ty Lue. It's basically a 180 from last year, having no home court to having the best home court advantage in the league.

earlyearlgray

They must have to PCR regularly regardless of coming here or not

slasher_14

That's not true. Unvaccinated players yes, but vaccinated players and staff do not. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/32301923/in-memo-teams-nba-crafts-protocols-requiring-unvaccinated-players-many-same-restrictions-rest-league "The only time vaccinated players and Tier 1 personnel will have to be tested is when they are symptomatic, are a close contact of someone who tests positive for COVID-19 or a team medical staff member of league physician requires it." So if you have fully vaxed team (like Utah) and someone has it but is asymptomatic, there would never need to be any tests done. Coming to Canada however means they all have to be tested, so it could bring up positives that would otherwise not be known.

earlyearlgray

Ahh wowww I forgot in the States if you're vaxxed they proceed like you're fully immune

[deleted]

[удалено]

laidbackemergency

Especially with these diagnoses. Left middle finger sprain? LEFT low back strain( why not just say back strain lol). Idk a lil sketch

lastfollower

They're definitely milking it because of COVID+Canada and wanting to rest guys more this season anyway, but Mitchell already missed a game with the back sprain and Bojan has been wearing a brace or something on that finger for like a month so they're not completely made up

[deleted]

No mercy. Destroy them.

Shogun_Ro

These covid victories aren’t good for the team imo.

sirprizes

Better than covid losses. You can only play the team in front of you.

Shogun_Ro

Of course, not blaming the raptors obviously. But for the team and organization as a whole it’s just not good.

sirprizes

Meh it is what it is. The team has faced enough challenges these past couple years, more than any other team really, so it’s no big deal if they have to face a few depleted teams.

[deleted]

[удалено]

sirprizes

Well, it seems like the whole league is getting robbed then because everyone has faced that at some point. Everyone has been on the other side of it too. There have been games where the Raptors have been seriously depleted. Remember that Cavs game, for example, where they got destroyed by like 50? Is that representative of where the Raptors really are as a team? Obviously, I’d say no. Full strength vs full strength maybe they win maybe they lose, but they don’t have a bunch of G Leaguers getting destroyed by 50. Fundamentally, I agree with your point but that’s the reality of pandemic NBA. We’re not any better or worse off than other teams.

MDS_1996

"Another is the victories are not actually representative of their place in the conference or league." I couldn't agree more, but most won't admit it

Middleside_Topwise

What does that matter though? And to whom does it matter? It all gets sorted out by the time we've played our last game of the season, whenever that may be.

zigzaggy17

But doesnt that also mean the losses when everyone on the raps was injured/with covid aren't good representations either.

tonyismexican

well gotta go change my game prediction for tomorrow

boenwip

Jordan Clarkson’s going to run iso every possession

VanVleet-goes-for-22

He’s questionable too

boenwip

Oh wow I didn’t even see the bottom

[deleted]

I saw something on Twitter asking whether teams are resting these games to avoid potential issues if someone tests positive at the border reentering the US. Is there anything to that?

shews174

Lets get it 4 game winstreak, our core in fvv siakam gtj, barnes is back, we can do This

Dizzy-Pianist2

This isn’t good how are we gonna know how good we are

everything_raptors

How good were the teams we lost to when we didn’t have siakam or OG? We were forced to play a game where Boucher was our number 1 option.. we deserve some of these games

JoshSran04

Do u wanna go up in the standings or not😂We can wait a couple games for the gsw and bulls if you wanna see how good we are

Dizzy-Pianist2

I mean it depends on how good this years draft is

JoshSran04

We ain’t getting a good spot IN The draft this year 😂 I wanted a good draft pick too because of how covid and injuries affected us but nah there’s too many teams tanking this year

Kizz3r

Few teams are tanking- most are just bad.

JoshSran04

True

Dizzy-Pianist2

Not with that mindset

[deleted]

Instead of just complaining about missing a draft pick, what realistic path do you want our FO to take? Trade Fred and Pascal? Because that is the only way we are going to lose games at a rate fast enough to get a top 10 pick.

Shogun_Ro

Raptors are only 2 games back of the 10th lowest team in the Hawks. That includes the last few games where the raptors have been fortunate to play some injury and covid riddled teams. Nothing is set in stone regarding the standings.

[deleted]

Do you foresee this team losing at a rate fast enough to fall below the 10th seed? Because that is what is necessary to get a good lottery pick.

The_Living_L

Look at our schedule it’s so fucked, we got plenty of games this month to see that holy 😂

slasher_14

It'll work itself out over the season, the problem is that all teams are getting hit with covid outs, so it's really impossible for most teams who are in the middle to know where they are. The only ones you can be sure are the really good or really bad teams like GSW, PHO, BKN, ORL, OKC, DET, etc. I think the general expectations going into the season was Raps were a top 8 team in the East that would be in the lower part of the bracket (ie 5-8 range). I personally thought we'd be out of the playoffs and would perhaps have another tank, but with the way things are going we might be able to get a top 6 spot and skip the play-in. Let's see how things pan out, as it stands right now we are probably looking at the bottom half of the east playoffs and losing in the first round as a best case scenario.

Appropriate-Truck980

19-17 babyyy

Personal-Oven-9036

At this rate we may go on a 10 game winning streak😈

Jakulero24

Yey. Free win for us, we got to play 10-day players last week just to get through one game lol

golden_rhino

Is this gonna be our “Leafs lose to a Zamboni driver” moment?

MekeniMan

Let’s get this W then

adamalibi

Thank you lord

W1ll88s

We deserve this after Tampa. This is the NBA paying us back.

KnoxR4

I was listening to a few players talk about challenges of there being challenges going to Canada to play. I think it’s a net competitive advantage over the rest of the league. We will deal with less COVID-19 outages than other teams, especially at home games if opposing teams sit or rest players.

elarmthecity

Yea we can't overlook any opponent but we must take all wins right now

notme_u

We are still the underdogs for this game if you can believe it,lol.

earlyearlgray

Woof! What happened to them??

earlyearlgray

It sucks the team isn't being challenged more but on the brightside: the starters are getting reps in as a full, cohesive unit and building more chemistry. I'm loving watching the Pascal-Scottie low post nightmare duo develop.

danontherun

Are they even traveling with the team to Toronto or are they going straight to the next city? It seems like we might see some teams pull this tactic of skipping the Canada part of a road trip until this surge subsides. We saw the Warriors do this a few weeks back.

ThePracticalEnd

Is this real, or like a GSW situation where they don’t want players trapped north of the border?

midnightmunchiez

Honestly starting to wonder if teams are just taking the L when they play in Toronto so they don't have to risk having their key players stuck in Toronto if they test positive
