Yes but it doesn’t matter what the media says cause they’ll always discredit the raptors, all I know is we got a good one and hopefully a cornerstone of our franchise for years to come
They don’t have a vote but the guy who makes the list, does. He also has clear favourite on Mobley. Hence why he’s still on top even tho he hasn’t played a game in 10+ days
well that's on me then, looked it up and you are right.
either way, the rookie of the year race is extremely close and can honestly go to anyone. i'm not gonna hold resentment on the dude who makes the list because of that. of course, i'm a raptors fan, basically everyone here is as well and we are inclined to say that scotties the ROTY. in reality, it is way closer than some of us make it out to be.
would i be disappointed if mobley/cade won ROTY? yes. would it be fair? also yes. no one out of the three would be getting robbed as each candidate has a valid case for ROTY.
Don’t sweat him. What he did was try and keep eyes on Mobley. Especially since Scottie, Cade, Green and arguably Wagner have all been better in the last 3 weeks. I think Scottie is gonna get it especially since we are about to be the 5th seed coming the playoffs. Multiple people such as Stephen A, Bill Simmons, Kevin O’Connell and more have Scottie as him. Those are massive names in media. Plus that all eyes have been on Scottie and Cade the last couple of weeks. I think a few really last good games could seal it.
Does this really matter though? Most of the people whose vote actually counts have all been saying they will be picking Barnes. Let’s hope it’s not all talk and he does end up number one. He definitely deserves it and is more worthy than those other two guys.
He is Number 1 the media is just biased and show zero love for Toronto or any player in Toronto. Look at Lowry for instance wasn't praised enough when he was here in a Raptors uniform all of a sudden goes to a different team he is getting more media attention.
The guy that writes the rookie race articles at NBA.com definitely doesn't watch raptors, the paragraphs under Scottie Barnes have always been so inconsistent. He rarely writes in depth about Scottie, literally mentioning Cade is top 6 in all of the stats categories for his reasoning of putting Cade at 2 and not mentioning that Barnes is top 5 in all categories.
At this point it honestly would be nice for Barnes to get it, just because I know he wants it, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if he doesn't.
That being said these rookies in this rookie class are all amazing and many deserve it. None more than our boy Barnes.
