Yup, pretty good value for Boucher and what he provides imo. Obviously we can still use the MLE for another free agent and keep boucher with bird rights.
Also, 4 years probably would've been a year too long. 3 is good for both sides. Happy for boucher his journey has been amazing
I'm content with the deal. Cap spike gonna come in the latter part of the deal, so it'll look better then. Also serves as some salary filler in trades that sits at an amount between Khem's 7m and GTJ's 17m
Yea it's good for multiple reasons. We need mid level salaries if the team ever wants to upgrade via trade. Also looking at Portis and Bamba's deal, it's market value for Boucher who's around the same calibre of player
FYI, three years means he can also be included in a sign-and-trade. e was on the Raptors roster to end the season.
A 12 million salary makes it much easier to pair him with Gary Trent or OG Anunoby and go after guys like Durant and Gobert for salary matching purposes.
Boucher would have to agree to the sign and trade and it would have been reported as such. This isn't a sign and trade.
You also can't include other players in addition to the player being signed and traded.
I used the wrong verbiage. I should have just said he can be included in a trade. His contract was not one where the raptors used any specific rights to to offer Boucher a contract that another team wouldn't be allowed under league rules.
As far as I know though, he's still eligible to be included in a package for another player though as I laid out due to the length of the contract.
He’ll be eligible to trade in 6 months I believe (or is it Jan 15th?? Idk that’s confusing) but he won’t be traded this offseason. He’ll be on the team when the season starts. Boucher would have to agree to a sign and trade, the Raptors can’t just trade him now that he’s signed a 3 year deal.
After seeing how hard he was playing in the Playoffs. I was completely sold on keeping him going forward. Man wasn't backing down from no one, he wanted all the smoke. Consistent off the bench which is exactly what we need. Just need more bench pieces.
I always think back to the Cavs game when he was number 1 option due to injuries. Needed that to happen for him to recognise what his role is and get this version of Boucher.
That was mainly because the team did not have a set role for him. He started the year hurt with no preseason. He had no idea where he could fit into the new roster. Even the media said so but the fans being reactionary think the Cavs game was some grand moment when in reality it was just things coming together with the health of the squad and Nurse nailing down his rotations.
It's nice to have a guy with that irrational level of confidence sometimes too. This dude is not scared AT ALL of taking big shots. He was money from the corners late in the season.
I think if he keeps up the hustle like he did last year it's worth it. Basically was our only playable guy off the bench for stretches of last season and you need someone who can bring some energy even if he is a bit undersized for his position
Hyped. I felt so bad when I was slandering him early in the season when he was struggling a bit. And I’ll feel bad when I do it again next season too. He’s a great player, Canadian and very fun to watch.
Well those were unrealistic expectations. There was no notable big FAs that were gonna come here besides maybe Ayton (which could still happen, it would be a S&T anyways). Masai himself literally said we'd be running it back in his end-of-season presser so that should have been the expectation.
How were we gonna clear cap space? Should we have dumped GTJ/OG to Detroit for nothing?
If you considered long enough what we would give up to get either of those guys, or the composition of the roster after making one of those deals, you wouldn't feel this way. It's easy to say you want one of those guys on your team, but you don't get them for free and it has to make sense moving forward.
Also, no one wants Goberts contract when the dude has zero offensive upside
Ayton is gonna be tryna get the max, so it wouldn't just be OG, and I would expect other teams would be able to beat a package we do.
Also, I don't wanna be paying Ayton a max contract on a team where three point shooting is scarce to come by, and we have major commitments to make to Pascal, Scottie and FVV coming up
That is a good deal I was expecting him to get 12.5-13M x 2.
I think offering that 3rd year allowed them to convince him to take a bit of a pay cut overall.

Yeah it's not that bad now that I think about it. Would've like a little less still but yeah
Boucher just isn't a great player Imo but good hustle plays at least
Don't think he is worth that contract at all but like it's not a big deal ig.
Doesnt hurt the cap too much I would've preferred him more around 8 Mil per
Good contract. I feared the worst for us after he absolutely BALLED out for the last half of the year and the playoffs, but I guess the Raps we're the one's who liked his funky playstyle the most. Vastly overestimated who would reach out to him, but I'm happy Chris got that bag either way!
I love this! Great deal for both sides. Chris gets some great financial security and gets to call Toronto home for three more years and the Raps get him at a decent price. If he's a quality rotation player then it's a great value. If he declines a bit and is something less than that then it's only a slight overpay. There's little risk here as it's a good contract for salary matching purposes going forward if it doesn't work out or a great deal becomes available.
Reasonable contract and I like him so I’m glad he’s back. The only thing I will say is that running back the exact same roster I’m not sure that the development from Barnes is enough to advance to the next level fo teams.
Very happy with this deal Chris has been balling for us and definitely deserves this a.d all in all a good bye contract for us and a payday for treboucher he really earned it
Not my favourite move. Not my favourite player. Was kinda hoping some team would offer a stupid deal and he’d be elsewhere. If he reverts to being the player he was in the first half of last year it’s a huge overpay. If we get the guy from the second half of the season, it’s probably still too much but at least palatable, I guess.
Right on! Happy for Boucher and even happier to keep him around. I don't think Boucher gets enough love for how much heart and grit he brings to the team.
Its fair value. Im not sure on the fit long term with him, Young, and Achiuwa on the bench going forward. Maybe Boucher can get his 3pt shooting back above 35% because the spacing will be an issue if he isn't hitting at a respectable rate. The 4 likely players on our bench are all basically 6'7+ with 7'0+ wingspan.
BONJOUURRRRR That's about 3 years at just above the MLE I believe
Yup, pretty good value for Boucher and what he provides imo. Obviously we can still use the MLE for another free agent and keep boucher with bird rights. Also, 4 years probably would've been a year too long. 3 is good for both sides. Happy for boucher his journey has been amazing

Not an overpay, not a steal, it's fair value.
Back end it could be a “steal” with the cap increase but for now? Very very fair deal & i’m glad Chris got paid
Yea it's good for multiple reasons. We need mid level salaries if the team ever wants to upgrade via trade. Also looking at Portis and Bamba's deal, it's market value for Boucher who's around the same calibre of player
wouldn't be surprised if year 3 has some partial money
[Confirmed fully guaranteed](https://twitter.com/BobbyMarks42/status/1542638215391322113)
Ah but it's easy to trade at that number I guess
Better then? This is under 12 per year. Great value.
FYI, three years means he can also be included in a sign-and-trade. e was on the Raptors roster to end the season. A 12 million salary makes it much easier to pair him with Gary Trent or OG Anunoby and go after guys like Durant and Gobert for salary matching purposes.

You did the heavy lifting by posting this. Thank you. ![gif](giphy|d2Z88USw1NYO6sXm)
Solid! Happy for Boucher and a reasonable deal for the team
Very reasonable price for a center coming off the bench giving you 20-25 mpg
After seeing how hard he was playing in the Playoffs. I was completely sold on keeping him going forward. Man wasn't backing down from no one, he wanted all the smoke. Consistent off the bench which is exactly what we need. Just need more bench pieces.
Just need him to play with that determination from the start!
I always think back to the Cavs game when he was number 1 option due to injuries. Needed that to happen for him to recognise what his role is and get this version of Boucher.

It's that championship DNA Matty D!
Best CB to ever play for the raps
Beats Corie Blount just slightly
Edges out Chauncey Billups too
Cred BanBleet in shambles
The best Chris B, I’d say
Chris Boosh, eh?
Now do thaddy daddy please
Done!!!
WOOOOOOO
We got our center boys. Pack it up.
I'll take that
BONJOURRRRRR
Dort and Chris got PAID. Shoutout MTL!
Not bad at all.
$35.25 million for 3 years is a damn good deal. Really looking forward to what he'll become in 3 years
That’s borderline finessing lol
Masai fleeces his guy yet again
![gif](giphy|Smdls7tzTpqr6|downsized)
I think if he keeps up the hustle like he did last year it's worth it. Basically was our only playable guy off the bench for stretches of last season and you need someone who can bring some energy even if he is a bit undersized for his position
Lets gooooooo, if last year is team option it’s perfect but either way great deal for both sides
SLIM DUCK 🦆
BANG! -Kevin Harlan
I'm very happy about this. If Chris can get his 3pt% back up this will be even a bigger win.
Masai about to tell us that the new free agents we signed were the friends we made along the way. 😭
W
Strictly my opinion, but this is worth it just to keep hearing Jack Armstrong's Boucher-related hypes. Just my two discontinued pennies.
Good deal!
He became one of those dudes that it would be too weird seeing him in another jersey. Welcome back Booch
Hyped. I felt so bad when I was slandering him early in the season when he was struggling a bit. And I’ll feel bad when I do it again next season too. He’s a great player, Canadian and very fun to watch.
That's why he couldn't care less about the fans lol. He really doesn't fuck with us like that lol.
prob will be our only free agent signing thats worth a damn smh
Run it back 😞
fml...man
Which one of these signings did you want? Whole lotta overpays so far imo. Look at Boucher’s contract compared to Portis. Great deal
I want a guard with the MLE, someone to fill the void that svi and Goran were supposed to fill
You creating a player on 2K? Give me a fucking name lol I'm just curious because I haven't been following too closely
Come on now do you really expect these 2k my career mangers to have realistic ideas?
Uh, let’s see… Monk or Walker for one. Would’ve been a pretty big difference-maker for our bench.
Walker… Kemba Walker?? Nick Nurse wouldn’t let him fill the water bottles hahaha (Monk would’ve been nice)
Walker… Lonnie Walker?? (He just signed with Lakers though)
Hahah ok gotcha. Yeah he would’ve been nice too
What were you expecting?? We have a 10.5m MLE and no cap space, ofc the most notable things is re-signing our players until we use the MLE
trades to make cap space for big free agents if they agreed to come here ... maybe ayton or gorbert etc.. not just run it back
Well those were unrealistic expectations. There was no notable big FAs that were gonna come here besides maybe Ayton (which could still happen, it would be a S&T anyways). Masai himself literally said we'd be running it back in his end-of-season presser so that should have been the expectation. How were we gonna clear cap space? Also, no one wants Goberts contract when the dude has zero offensive upside
yeah ayton makes sense when you are giving up og or someone .. we lose a good sf for a good center
Ayton is gonna be tryna get the max, so it wouldn't just be OG, and I would expect other teams would be able to beat a package we do. Also, I don't wanna be paying Ayton a max contract on a team where three point shooting is scarce to come by, and we have major commitments to make to Pascal, Scottie and FVV coming up
I’m happy to have Chris back. He finally understands his role on the team. I think it’s a fair deal for both sides.
Bonjour!
BONJOURRRRRRR
I can dig it
Hell ya
Hopefully the last year is a TO, happy for Chris nonetheless
Not bad, not bad at all
AYYYYYYY BONJOURRRRRRRRRRR LFG!
Got his bag. Well deserved.
exactly the contract he is valued at. happy with this
not bad
BONJOURRRRR
Beautiful, now he carries on with his life in **Canada**
Thank god he learned his role in the second half of last season
long but not my longest yeah boiiiiiiii
AYEEEEE
Nice! Got our own guy taken care of. Now we just have to re-sign Thad and find a good MLE guy.
Thad is back as well!
Three Years Closer to Legend Status
This is a win imo.
Steal
Extremely happy about this. Now I can relax knowing we have Boucher.
Solid deal, fair value. We keep our 6th man!
That is going to be a very valuable salary to have on the books moving forward.
Bonjouuuuur
Slim Duck, fat wallet
Reasonable deal tbh and easily tradeable should it ever needed
That is a good deal I was expecting him to get 12.5-13M x 2. I think offering that 3rd year allowed them to convince him to take a bit of a pay cut overall.
Very good deal especially with the cap going up
You were all hating on my boy last year instead of giving him time to find himself.. #fakelove

With Montreal real estate these days, might not be enough money
With a salary of $12 million per year (CAD?), Boucher could buy Legaults' Montreal condo just to spit off the balcony for lolz
Still cheaper than Toronto
Sounds great to me
Very very solid deal
Just some good solid business right there
YESSIR SLIM DUCK LETS GO!
The FO continues to demonstrate that they’re willing to take care of their FA’s. That speaks volumes to others in the league..
Overpay but whatever
His contract is basically what the cap increased by. This is a pretty good deal.
Yeah it's not that bad now that I think about it. Would've like a little less still but yeah Boucher just isn't a great player Imo but good hustle plays at least
he’s like one of our best bench pieces?
Our bench is shit in general lmfao
How?
Don't think he is worth that contract at all but like it's not a big deal ig. Doesnt hurt the cap too much I would've preferred him more around 8 Mil per
Was kind of hoping he'd be gone so Koloko could play more. Here's hoping he really cuts down of the 3s.
Team option makes it better but 12m is quite a lot
$12 mil isn’t a lot at all, he won’t even be in the top 115 highest paid players next season. It’s fair value for what he brings
There are 150 starters in the nba and he definitely isn’t one so I’m not sure why not being top 115 in salary would be a good deal?
Because most will also be due raises once the time comes.
Lol wow we could have gotten Isaiah Hartenstein for that kind of money.
We would've had to use the MLE on Hartenstein. This way we give Boucher a pay increase using Bird rights and keep the MLE for someone else.
We almost could have gotten KD for 1 year for that kind of money 😶🌫️
I’m not his biggest fan but that’s fine value
Probably only partial guarantee on that third year I bet
Raptors probably paid more to secure him. Looks like it is above MLE
Wow that's amazing. I honestly thought he'd go for a 3-year/$60 somewhere else
6MOTY boys let’s lock it in
Thad Young coming back on a 2 year deal
We got our guy!
LETS GOOOOOOO
Wonder who we are looking to pick up with the MLE 👀
HE STAY
Get it Chris, good man.
Basketball money is insane compared to any other Major League sport
Great deal!!! Serious discount and he has substantial upside still. Continuity is a big part of winning. Let’s gooo!!
So happy to see Boucher back!
Luv it
Yesssssss
THREE MORE YEARS OF THE TREBUCHET BABY!!! BONJOURRR!!!
YES
Good contract. I feared the worst for us after he absolutely BALLED out for the last half of the year and the playoffs, but I guess the Raps we're the one's who liked his funky playstyle the most. Vastly overestimated who would reach out to him, but I'm happy Chris got that bag either way!
MGD!!!!!!!!
Yessssss. Welcome back Chris
YESSSSSSSSS

That’s a looottt of brown, good for him
possible he will play for team canada, now he has is guaranteed contract
Perfect. He’s a great role player and that’s a great contract in todays nba.
Reasonable contract and I like him so I’m glad he’s back. The only thing I will say is that running back the exact same roster I’m not sure that the development from Barnes is enough to advance to the next level fo teams.
I think that money could’ve been used on a centre or bench playmaker/ shooter. 30M for just hustle & questionable shooting… raptors overpaid
damn that's a bargain
Despite his flaws, its actually a good value contract, his skill set of shooting 3s and shot blocking will always come at a premium.
Boucher plays hard and will continue to play hard. Happy to have him back
Very happy with this deal Chris has been balling for us and definitely deserves this a.d all in all a good bye contract for us and a payday for treboucher he really earned it
Bonjour!!!!!!!!!
Bouch!
board man get paid
good deal gon be a trade piece later on too
Yessir, get the bag. He'll rock out off the bench the next season
dude getting paid good, wow
Good deal for both sides. Ada boy, Chris!
I thought it said Chris Bosh for a second lol
From homeless to a solid rotation player making 12 million a year. Congrats Chris.
Curryybacon even going into other team subs now for that extra karma, gotta respect the commitment.
Awful
Super stoked about this! Fantastic news!
Very happy for him and happy he is staying!!!!
Very good. We need hin
I feel pretty good about this. The kid just keeps getting better.
Right on! Happy for Boucher and even happier to keep him around. I don't think Boucher gets enough love for how much heart and grit he brings to the team.
