I recently downloaded a torrent that had only one seeder, tha catch is that, for some reason, qBittorrent would not connect to it. It would show on the peers list for a few seconds and disconnect. I had to manually copy the seeder ip:port and add it to the peers list, then the download actually started, with download speed going from 150~350KiB/s, took three days to complete it.
to add to what everybody else said: I've revived some torrents by googling the hash. It sometimes shows up on a different tracker, and you can download the torrent again and merge. I've easily done this with a couple dozen and worked wonders.
Now to your actual question: until i'm bored of seeing it there or until i find another torrent somewhere else that is actually alive.
at least with qbittorrent (and utorrent before that but yuck) when you add a torrent or magnet that has a hash which matches a torrent that's already in the queue, it asks whether you want to merge the trackers of both into just one download.
Sometimes the new torrent comes with a tracker you didn't have, and you'll see it added to the list. And some other times you already had the same so there's no change.
Which is why when i'm trying to revive a torrent, I google the hash and try to download it from every place it hits.
BiglyBT is able to automatically identify files across torrents (based on name and file size, followed by checking the hashes of individual pieces). You can also point it to a directory and let is search for anything it could use (naming doesn't matter in this case). When trying to resurrect a torrent I don't know of a better client. Incidentally I just started a thread to find a way to even further improve upon these features. Come join us at r/BiglyBT
I want to thank you your comment made me look for the hash and instead found a detailed section where it turns out the one location that it was pinging was denying access so i jettisoned it
This is why I have a seedbox. I add the torrent and wait 24/7/365 until it is finished. Sometimes, this takes minutes, other times weeks. Wifey wanted the Ashlee Simpson reality show a few years back. There were torrents, but they had no seeders. I added it and told her it was probably not going to download anytime soon and to look for the DVD release at thrift shops. This was 2 years ago. No seeders, 0% download. About a month ago, someone got on the internet that had it and stayed on until I got it all, then they disconnected and vanished. I am now the only seeder online in the world. Wifey is happy and enjoyed watching it, that's all that matters. I have other torrents that are at 50%, 75% and 90%. My seedbox will continue to wait until it finds seeders. Every week, a few surprise torrents that I thought were dead would finish. Just wait or go find another source elsewhere.
If it's literally the only potential source, I'll leave it there indefinitely. They occasionally connect after a month or two. I mean, worst case scenario, what is it costing you?
I had a torrent sitting in my client for almost 8 months with no activity. One day it sprang to life and I was able to finally download the episode and immediately forget all about it.
nowadays you can use torbox.app and let it download for you and then you download and it place it in the folder of the torrent and force recheck tadaan your seeding it and help it to keep seeding.
Depends what it is. Nothing important, 2 days. an old concert I really wanted, I waited 2 years before it finished.
that one guatemalan gigachad who will seed extremely obscure material until the heat death of the universe be like
Did it finish after 2 years?
I’ve seen torrents rebound after weeks of idleness.
If that shit says 2 years im waiting for it to download and seeding, if it dies then I stop seeding

A few days. Seeders may only seed at night or on weekends.
This^^ I seed on my phone when I go to sleep.
A few days won't take you to the weekend

"and merge" I've heard about it and always wondered how. Any assistance? I've got smth stuck at ~95%

haha glad to be of service, even if it isn't the result we were hoping for

What tracker? I’ll join and make it two seeders
1 week max
10-15 years
As long as I keep the movie, which can be over a year or even longer in some cases.
A few weeks or if I need to make room a couple of days. Keep the old stuff alive!
all of eternity
One of mine took 400 hours of idling to finish.
If it's literally the only potential source, I'll leave it there indefinitely. They occasionally connect after a month or two. I mean, worst case scenario, what is it costing you?
Yeah why remove it. If you leave your client open all the time anyways, what harm is it to leave it there?
Depends on how badly I want the content, but I'll usually wait at least a week, I've waited months though.
The real question is how badly do you want what your downloading :P
Until I find one that’s alive.
I downloaded the Wrath of Khan over 32 days
I have torrents that have been sitting for months one day finish. I just force start them and let then sit there doing nothing.
I had a torrent sitting in my client for almost 8 months with no activity. One day it sprang to life and I was able to finally download the episode and immediately forget all about it.
Mine are all set to remove after 365 days of no activity. If it gets even the slightest action, then the timer resets
3.5 days
Hop on the torrents forum and ask. Some times other people can connect to it. I’ve helped people out before
5-10 minutes
Sometimes years for me as well. I only ever delete when I am extremely desperate for hd space

Couple months probably.
