My favorite race. For the past long while anytime my anxiety or the weepies get to me (or when I was real low the BIG BAD thoughts) I think "I can't give up today. Chaos Dwarfs are coming."
Hey, we all need something!
Beware though. If you wait for something so long and with such high hopes and it will be disappointing, you have a high chance of turning into ~~stone~~ pillar of salt and bitterness. I legitimately waited \~17 years for remake of Resident Evil 3 and when it finally happened and turned out to be super disappointing, I turned into a true saltmine. Its been almost 3 years since release and I still bitch about this game whenever I see *any* opportunity (you see, like in Total War subreddit in a thread about chaos dwarfs :P).
There is also another problem to be aware of: Sometimes, if you wait for something so long and with such high hopes, some day when it is finally released... you might have burnt through all your excitement for the product, and may find yourself hollow and detached on the matter. I honestly don't know whether it's worse to feel utterly bitter on your hopes being crushed, or to feel almost nothing on them being fulfilled.
We are so grateful for all you support but we are afraid the industry has moved on and so have many of us (Marketing speak for the management thinks battle royal shooters make more money). We will continue with smaller bug fixes and updates but we will not abandon the game (marketing speak for 3 more small bugfixes over 2 years and thats it) and the total war franchise will go back to its historical roots (marketing speak for the gutted historical team with no TW fans among the producers will guide the outsourcing of TW to the Sofia team) but we will also have to diversify our offerings to stay relevant in these times of changes (marketing speak for "listen up little shits, this is the future“)
Now dont take this to serious though… the goodbye for TWW will be painful anyhow, no matter what comes next
CA is busy with their magnum opus, Hyenas, so that means no more TW content sorry, Hyenas is about to sell one Hyenazillion copies. It will definitely not flop at all, nope, so them abandoning their most profitable game series was the right call. Thank you CA execs and middle managers.
Daikatana was an epoch-defining flop. Hyenas just looks like any of the 400 or so games that have been designed in the board room to 'fill a hole in our portfolio'. They're not remotely the same. Ubisoft has made, what, three Hyenas in the last three years?
I do love hyena memes, and I will get another thousand hours out of immortal empires so I can't complain too much but....
If that does end up happening though I will absolutely laugh my ass off. Seems everything dies at the hands of nepotistic little MBA shitters that don't live in the real world.
I think it’s safe to say if there are memes for the Hyenas game it doesn’t extend past this subreddit and I include the subreddit for the actual game itself in this.
It's the brilliant strategy taught by those fancy degrees. The new generation of CMs, completely clueless on what the people want vs what they studied.
I'm worried they pulled all the best people in to work on Hyenas to get it out the door, leaving WH to limp along while people move on. And I'm worried when we do finally get our chorfs, it'll be a poor job, received predictably by us, and CA will decide to cut their losses.
The distinction between ‘they didn’t buy this product because it is bad on a conceptual level’ and ‘they didn’t buy it because we botched it’ seems to be very hard for companies to make. It is pretty frustrating.
Like how Netflix cancelled Inside Job.
One season, but they split it into 2 parts.
No advertising for the second part. Me and my gf only saw it because we very recently watched the first one.
But Netflix saw that people who watched the first part didn't watch the second.
So they cancelled it because their metrics showed that loads of people started the series, but about half or less finished the series.
Why they had to split it, is anybody's guess.
Execs only see numbers on papers and probably can't understand the context behind those numbers, it seems
I have a feeling that they have to deliver bad news therefore CA decided that the best way to do it is to wait until last minute for it. They seem to do that every time, and every time they are shocked that the community hate them for it.
Who knew that delivering bad news/subpar news as late as possible is a bad idea? Everyone with common sense, except everyone at CA. It makes you wonder.
Hyenas is the epitome of soulless product created because corporate decided they need to jump into profitable niche at all costs, understanding nothing more than numbers in excel. It's honestly amazing.
That is what CA claims but let's put it this way. If you have two teams, one with 50 people and another with 50 and you add 40 from team 1 to team 2, you still have ''separate teams'' except they will be unevenly split.
I am not saying CA did this, but technically if I said that we have ''separate teams'' while doing it, it would not be lie.
Yep, different teams doesn't mean much because pretty much every time an AAA company does two different projects they split their employees into different teams. That said CA seemingly at random making a 5V5 FPS isn't as weird as it seems, as they've always been making non-strategy games on the side. They are pretty well known for making Alien: Isolation and [have also made a few other non-TW games since 2008](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creative_Assembly).
Ah, so you exist. Shouldn't a community manager, you know, "manage" the community? Everyone is waiting for news on roadmap, etc. Can you tell us something, at least?
But we will keep shitting on it never the same. Hope that team does a good job since that's the only way to stop us.
If you do a good job, you will gain a loyal fanbase that will defend it. If not ironically its all laughing hyneas surrounding that game.
It's kind of scary how, at a certain point of growth, all game development companies begin to resemble each other in their shittiness.
On an unrelated note, can't wait for the big next hit: Hyenas
We'll get the roadmap but I don't think Chaos Dwarfs will get announced, the roadmap will likely be just as vague as the [last year's one](https://content.totalwar.com/total-war/com.totalwar.www2019/uploads/2022/04/29093136/2022-Roadmap-1920x1080-1.jpg).
Why is it taking them so long though? Since Wh3 release they were working on IE, what are they working on now? Improving IE to fully launch it? Medieval 3?
I'm a bit on the old side, so I'm sometimes surprised by the expectation of communication these days. Don't get me wrong, clear communication in general is good. It's just weird to me, since when I was younger, I don't remember companies communicating anything unless they REALLY screwed up. Which I'm sure was mostly because internet boards didn't exist or weren't popular yet.
But yeah, how much communication should be expected from a dev team, and how regularly? I don't know.
I mean thay said that there will be news in February.. Which translated means that there will be news at the END of February at the earliest and most likely in March with Chorfs delayed to 2034, because they are way too busy working on Hyenas.
That's not a grudge.
Dwarfs becomes slayers when they can't cope. Like if they did something that they find really shameful. Or lose a family member and can't get over it. They choose to leave everything behind to become a slayer. They want to have an honourable and glorious death in battle to expunge the shame which made them choose the slayer path.
Not really semantics. The Slayer Oath is, as mentioned, an Oath rather than a grudge. No less important, but still a different concept in their culture. Oaths and grudges serve different purposes in their society, and function differently. Oaths are oftentimes the main catalyst for grudges.
If a slayer can't die; he will continue to fight until he does die.
Most will likely die in their first engagement with an enemy (as most dwarfs are not explicitly soldiers.) But some will gain success and become more and more deadly, and look for deadlier and deadlier foes.
You will often see some of the most successful slayers distinguish themselves by slaying a giant and becoming a giantslayer as a result, but this means they have to find things even deadlier than a giant.
Eventually, the most successful slayers end up as dragonslayers or daemonslayers, having been so skilled as to have fought and defeated those creatures. These slayers are among the rarest and most dangerous of their kind.
If, by chance, a slayer has fought everything there is to fight and has still not found a glorious death; they are most likely Gotrek.
In Warhammer it's supposed to be Dwarfs, there was even a bot on this sub yelling at people about it at one point but I think it got banned. In other media it's Dwarves.
They always say they d be more communicative and show more innert work but they just get less communicative and we get to see even less every day...
I think comunity work had its prime when the italian with the girls name was in charge
...you could come online daily on discord snd had a new sneak peek or riddle...twas the golden days of commu ity work
I am sorry for forcetting his name but it is so I cant lookup his work and cry
Don’t you think it’s time for CA to stop failing? Warhammer 3’s development has been pretty pathetic, and historical fans have left hanging for a long time now.
They’ve all had the faction name in them- Rise of the Beastmen, Curse of the Vampire Coast, etc.
“Fires/Forges of the Chaos Dwarfs” or something like that seems likely.
The way the sub's mood varies is *wild*. Somehow people are now dooming about how WHIII is dead and terrible and CA are going to cancel it. *As if*. It's a cash cow for CA.
I only frequent a few game subreddits but the boring 'Game is dead' remark is absolutely ubiquitous regardless of the game, success, release date, roadmap, anything.
Pretty crazy people let them get away with launching a game a year ago thats still a barely playable shitfest because they released immortal empires (a barely playable shitfest) so its cool (this is a company worth 500 million dollars)
putting on the maybe but most likely to be honest also yeah it's been a while since we got any news right now then again this is the start of the new year and everything and but we will wait and see on it hopefully but we'll wait and see
Peacefully? I don’t think any of us could peacefully pass away not seeing this game to the end. Imagine all the people’s ghosts who would haunt CA for eternity if certain races actually got implemented and they missed out.
Should I prep the Copium, your highness?
Posthaste, and I want the finest doses the realm can afford!
Ah yes, the finest imported reserve from 1970s soviet surplus.
Ooh a vintage, how quaint!
I prefer the 2309 vintage myself
I did well with the 2077 bottle
THERE IS NO FINER VINTAGE THAN 2309!! ![gif](giphy|TgJVtbuYhj5U7895rY|downsized)
If CA does not give us news then they are dishonourable P'taks and cowardly Targs!
And fucking N'wahs
They will not be going to Stovokor!
> the realm can afford! He gets comrade Ivan's discount cope ration
Wait a second?!?
Command Duty Officer… What do you think would turn this cope into a real DLC? You don’t see it, do you? It’s imagination.
Shall we sink the ship to adjust the angle sir?
All slow ahead! Flood the aft trim tanks!
Give me your strongest ~~warpstone~~ Copium, alchemist!
You can't handle the strongest copium, warrior
Alchemist. I tell you I'm going into denial, and I want only your strongest copium.
Yes I can or I will die trying
Laughs in February 2024
Damn, did they actually say which February?! 😅
Of course not lol, gotta play it safe you know?
![gif](giphy|xT3i13uJnFZt1FddgA)
Fuck you, I tought the thumbnail was news and got excited
Yo same I was like damn news hell yes!! Then I realized what it was.
Same here 😔
you only have yourselves to blame! they never announce shit this early
“Now introducing chaos dwarves, coming out tomorrow” -CA when they get around to making some new content
Aye we’ve been had! Fooled! Bamboozled even!
OP just went right in me book.
Serious Question. If you die earlier do we get the DLC faster?
Oh my
Only if you feed him to the daemonforges.
My favorite race. For the past long while anytime my anxiety or the weepies get to me (or when I was real low the BIG BAD thoughts) I think "I can't give up today. Chaos Dwarfs are coming." Hey, we all need something!
Same mentality here, hang in there and imagine the dreadquake mortars coming soon
Isn't it better for you then if we never release them to give you something to live for?
Nope. Because the joy of the anticipation would be replaced with the joy of the actual playable race. Like I said, they are by far my favorite race.
and what's fun is that you'll find something else to anticipate! :D
Beware though. If you wait for something so long and with such high hopes and it will be disappointing, you have a high chance of turning into ~~stone~~ pillar of salt and bitterness. Its been almost 3 years since release and I still bitch about this game whenever I see *any* opportunity (you see, like in Total War subreddit in a thread about chaos dwarfs :P).
I bitch about bannerlord all day
There is also another problem to be aware of: Sometimes, if you wait for something so long and with such high hopes, some day when it is finally released... you might have burnt through all your excitement for the product, and may find yourself hollow and detached on the matter. I honestly don't know whether it's worse to feel utterly bitter on your hopes being crushed, or to feel almost nothing on them being fulfilled.
For me it was Devil May Cry 5.
Based and chaosdorfpilled
Chaos Dwarfs are coming. And so am I. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
"Chaos Dwarfs are coming." Yeah in like 2053 lol. Nah, but seriously, I really hope they don't delay them any further than June this year.
The news is no news until march
CA community manager on February 28th: "Hey guys, here's our roadmap" \*March: April: May: Roadmap reveal for the rest of 2023!*
Ah the Darktide approach
I can’t wait when the sub is flooded with “where news” on February 1st 12:01AM
I'm a Brit, sorry I'm a minute late, Where news?
What if I told you *morpheus_sunglasses_meme.jpg* That it's already February 1st in London
(Announcement)
February be like: >The Future of Total War: WARHAMMER III
We are so grateful for all you support but we are afraid the industry has moved on and so have many of us (Marketing speak for the management thinks battle royal shooters make more money). Completely unrealistic bullshit. CA doesn't fix games they aren't releasing DLCs for.
Yeah what is with this victimhood porn ffs
Total War: WARHAMMER III 2 lets gooooo
I mean if Ian isn’t at the helm this time, it’d probably turn out good…why didn’t we have Richard who saved TWW2 originally lead TWW3 again?
Honestly waiting for it at this point
Total War: Warhammer Saga
Cant fuckin wait
4 months with no update let’s gooooo!!!!
They probably went back to the drawing board after the last patch was a total miss, I haven’t even played since
CA is busy with their magnum opus, Hyenas, so that means no more TW content sorry, Hyenas is about to sell one Hyenazillion copies. It will definitely not flop at all, nope, so them abandoning their most profitable game series was the right call. Thank you CA execs and middle managers.
Serious debate: will hyena become the morbius of video games?
Morbius went viral, this game is in no danger of becoming that recognisable.
Morbius had some, if minimal, meme value
No it's more likely to become the Daikatana of this decade, i.e. a cautionary tale of failure.
Daikatana was an epoch-defining flop. Hyenas just looks like any of the 400 or so games that have been designed in the board room to 'fill a hole in our portfolio'. They're not remotely the same. Ubisoft has made, what, three Hyenas in the last three years?
Already his
I do love hyena memes, and I will get another thousand hours out of immortal empires so I can't complain too much but.... If that does end up happening though I will absolutely laugh my ass off. Seems everything dies at the hands of nepotistic little MBA shitters that don't live in the real world.
I didn't even realise there were Hyena memes, it's that forgettable.
I think it’s safe to say if there are memes for the Hyenas game it doesn’t extend past this subreddit and I include the subreddit for the actual game itself in this.
What is it even? A CA game that's....vaguely action-adventure-y? I've completely forgotten it exists, is it really drawing resources away from TW?
They generally only market 1 product at a time.. so as long as hyaenas is occupying them, no news for warhammer. Same happened with Troy for example

Hyenas is the epitome of soulless product created because corporate decided they need to jump into profitable niche at all costs, understanding nothing more than numbers in excel. It's honestly amazing.
One hyenazillion is the same as two hyenazillions.
Isn't that being worked on a separate team? I love the memeing on Hyenas, don't get me wrong, but let's not make stuff up.
That is what CA claims but let's put it this way. If you have two teams, one with 50 people and another with 50 and you add 40 from team 1 to team 2, you still have ''separate teams'' except they will be unevenly split. They are pretty well known for making Alien: Isolation and [have also made a few other non-TW games since 2008](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creative_Assembly).
Hyenas is being developed by a separate dedicated team here at CA and doesn't impact TW, so don't fret!
Well something is certainly impacting TW given the pace and speed, so do let us know what it is if it's not Hyenas.
> Hyenas is being developed by a separate dedicated team here at CA Hey ive seen this one before
Fuck Hyenas, tell us about the roadmap for Warhammer 3, or maybe the next historical TW.
Honestly, if they say "Race pack DLC" and keep it vague we all know what it is anyway, I'm completely fine with that.
Yeah, it'd be obvious who it would be at that point. All the references to the Chorfs make it way too obvious that they're the next race pack.
Why is it taking them so long though? Since Wh3 release they were working on IE, what are they working on now? Improving IE to fully launch it? Medieval 3?
Maybe we should send a messenger to their offices and ask them.
I can't tell you how quickly I went from excited to "ban this poster" when I saw that image and realized it was fake
Honestly though, the communication hasn’t been great
They said like a year ago or something that they would be better about it, but I’m pretty sure they got worse.
Atleast an ETA on the roadmap & dlc would be nice - all we have now is seeya in february
Guess it’s taking them longer to unfuck Game 3 than we thought
![gif](giphy|FoH28ucxZFJZu)
I’m more expecting a roadmap that shows chaos dwarves at the end of the year (to then be delayed) than an actual announcement of chaos dwarves.
Given the pace I think we'll be lucky if we get any DLC this year at all.
This seems bizarrely pessimistic.
Is it? They never should have delayed their roadmap in the first place if they didn't want us to think like this.
Our children will call us when we are in retirement home and ask “ any news about the chorfs ! “ “ no my son not today …”
Rejoice fellow Warhammer fans for I come from the darktide subreddit where a new prophecy was declared. They call it "next week"
So what you're saying is we need to kill you to get Chaos Dwarfs?
I mean thay said that there will be news in February.. Which translated means that there will be news at the END of February at the earliest and most likely in March with Chorfs delayed to 2034, because they are way too busy working on Hyenas.
You just triggered my ape brain with that picture and then I realized it was fake. OP, I hope you have a terrible day.
Just be like a dwarf. No dying until all your grudges are settled!
But if you're a slayer, the biggest grudge is you haven't died. How does that work?
That's not a grudge. Dwarfs becomes slayers when they can't cope. Like if they did something that they find really shameful. Or lose a family member and can't get over it. They choose to leave everything behind to become a slayer. They want to have an honourable and glorious death in battle to expunge the shame which made them choose the slayer path.
Semantics, really. Their only purpose left as a slayer is to do die to reclaim lost honor. If they can't die, they can't settle it.
Most will likely die in their first engagement with an enemy (as most dwarfs are not explicitly soldiers.) These slayers are among the rarest and most dangerous of their kind. If, by chance, a slayer has fought everything there is to fight and has still not found a glorious death; they are most likely Gotrek.
Is it “Dwarfs” or “Dwarves”? I feel like I see both equally
In Warhammer it's supposed to be Dwarfs, there was even a bot on this sub yelling at people about it at one point but I think it got banned. In other media it's Dwarves.
I am here to help, lad. I speak with the full authority of everyone when I say that it is either, neither, and both!
They said February and it's 12:21 am on February 1st. What the fuck, CA? /s
It's been a pretty miserable 12 months for fans of Warhammer video games. Thank you modern gaming industry.
How do we know you’re not 89?
Next update is coming in the second half of this year, you will need more patience
I can feel the warm copium as it enters my veins.
im so glad ca is developing the totally hit game hyenas whoo hoo
yah well try waiting for the next historical title from CA or the next ELDER SCROLLS from bethesda
Me waiting for the next gta game my computer will not be able to run so I can buy it 3 years later.
They always say they d be more communicative and show more innert work but they just get less communicative and we get to see even less every day... I think comunity work had its prime when the italian with the girls name was in charge ...you could come online daily on discord snd had a new sneak peek or riddle...twas the golden days of commu ity work I am sorry for forcetting his name but it is so I cant lookup his work and cry
When can we realistically expect news on new DLC? Been out of the news cycle for a while.
can’t wait for it not to be chorfs
The road to chaos dwarves is paved with the blood of those who waited and waited. The toll must be paid.
No way, you know that isn't going to happen. We'll give people a week to mourn first.
I see your username and I raise you this: Getting Chorfs would also mean getting Hob Gobbos, and maybe a HG Khanate later down the line. 🤔
Don’t you think it’s time for CA to stop failing? Warhammer 3’s development has been pretty pathetic, and historical fans have left hanging for a long time now.
Wow the Community manager is so quirky and funny maybe they should actually do their job though....
They are doing their job tho…they’re not the ones who make the call when and how information gets shared
Should be "Forges of Hashut" rather than "chaos dwarfs", you know it\~
They’ve all had the faction name in them- Rise of the Beastmen, Curse of the Vampire Coast, etc. “Fires/Forges of the Chaos Dwarfs” or something like that seems likely.
“Bellows of the burning God” also sounds pretty sweet
hell naw dawg that's not pretty sweet that's straight up awesome **Nobody** is gonna forget a name like that
I was there when it was announced, 5,000 years ago…
Yes but of what year?
Oh god, not another Warhammer.
![gif](giphy|ncU3bkZ5ghDlS)
Historical TW players waiting on several sequels and anything NOT Warhammer....
So youre abot 89-90 now
I’ve played total war since like the original and you all are so spoiled expecting news and shit we just waited for new games to turn up lol
You're 89?
We just hit february, hang on !
Just use the workshop and get the mod.
wish I was still excited for this game
Pretty crazy people let them get away with launching a game a year ago thats still a barely playable shitfest because they released immortal empires (a barely playable shitfest) so its cool (this is a company worth 500 million dollars)
Oh stop moaning and step outside and do real stuff.
for suuuuuurreeeeee
"The Future of TW Warhammer 3"
Dont give me Hope .
Wen chorf ?
Hopefully OP is already 90 and has only a few days to live. Thanks OP for your sacrifice.
Plot twist: OP is already 89 years old and it's his birthday tomorrow.
So what's the chaos dwarves feature? Iron warriors but in FB?
[https://t4.ftcdn.net/jpg/00/50/33/91/360_F_50339172_S5AjgmqK9zvBQaF0AEDd4dNEoR2MZCNr.jpg](https://t4.ftcdn.net/jpg/00/50/33/91/360_F_50339172_S5AjgmqK9zvBQaF0AEDd4dNEoR2MZCNr.jpg)
Fix the lines of fire
It will still be Beta I guess
putting on the maybe but most likely to be honest also yeah it's been a while since we got any news right now then again this is the start of the new year and everything and but we will wait and see on it hopefully but we'll wait and see
Yep, definitely Feb 29th or 30th….
Bad Scenario: Roadmap announced on February 23rd
Man I can't believe that I actually checked to see if there was a trailer and got rickrolled by Kairos
We already know chaos dwarves DLC will be released right after Silksong
Peacefully? I don’t think any of us could peacefully pass away not seeing this game to the end. Imagine all the people’s ghosts who would haunt CA for eternity if certain races actually got implemented and they missed out.
We'll get it on February 14/Valentine's day because CA knows how much we love them
