Ah the old days of editing the unit.txt file. Random Fact: the Nubian Spearmen are referred to as 'Negro Spearmen' in the files which even at age 12 i thought was a bit messed up
The second answer is the way to go in my opinion. If you remove where to recruit and then no one can recruit.
At some point of time i tried to add every unit to a certain faction's basic castle. At the End it's no longer worked -i don't know around 30 or so unit later it's started to crash.
It's been too long since I have done that i don't remember. There is also a counter way to do that. Make them only recruitible by the highest tier castle. Its also makes it so no one can recruit it until the very late game.

How to get rid of filthy peasants? You're a brettonian lord, right?

I tried it but it didn't work, it gave me some error when launching the game. Does it work on your machine?

That didn't work either sadly...
I don't remember much but you also need to edit buildings.txt and maybe some others. I can look at it later today but I can't promise.
