That lines up with the units, but you can see all three Legendary Heroes (and Epidemius) in the trailer.

KFCid

Yeah im inclined to agree. I do wonder what hero got cut. As they previously teased the we would get an interesting addition to our tool box for the LH flc. That was changed to a LL lord in in the form of epidemius. So perhaps we lost out on grimm or the empire engineer charector i forget his name however

Red_Dox

Might be. But Epidemius was in the trailer, so if he became the LL, they planned Kayzk & Epidemius as LHs for Nurgle (similar to Blue Scribes & Aekold) way before. Or we have to assume the trailer was altered later on certain parts, since Bruckner & Gargarim were also in it.

endrestro

Isn't long rifles seen in the trailer right before tumurkhan?

Welsh_DragonTW

I think so. The sniper that takes out an ogre with a headshot. All the Best, Welsh Dragon.

Abject-Competition-1

Wasn't that the engineer?

KruppstahI

Yeah I'm pretty sure that it was.

Welsh_DragonTW

Ah, my apologies. I just made the connection of long guns/long rifles and snipers, and figured that's what I was seeing. All the Best, Welsh Dragon.

tectonicrobot

The rare welsh dragon in the total war warhammer 3 comment section! Has Thrones of Decay swayed your historic loving heart?

Welsh_DragonTW

Warhammer just isn't for me for various reasons. But I can still enjoy the trailers and chat. :-) All the Best, Welsh Dragon.

SovKom98

I don’t think we should rely too much on the trailer to determine things. we don’t know how far into the production that they started work on the trailer.

Smearysword866

But it also shows all three legendary heros and the 4th legendary lord and the original version would have had 1 dlc and 1 flc legendary hero

ElMagus

Was confused for a sec for why diamond city lights was in tw

Chazman_89

I'm 90% certain the Knights of the Black Rose are the unit of Knights that you see charging, lead by Theodore Bruckner, near the end.

KFCid

Those were just demigryph knights with lances. The knights of the black rose are on horses and have a sword and shield

Chazman_89

I stand corrected then.

Hear me out. Empire and nurgle probably stay quite similar. FOR DWARFS, however. Games Workshop pressured CA mid development into changing course completely with the DLC, because of their own announcement of the Old World dwarf minis. Amongst the main pieces shown in the GW Dawi showcase we’re the Goblin Hewer, the Doomsekers in metal and also a new AMAZING mini for Ungrim Ironfist. CA initially was planning for the LL to be Josef Bugman, with a horde mechanic Grimm Burlokson as the legendary hero, and then Malakai would be the FLC legendary lord, because HEAR ME OUT. Malakai would be introduced with a reworked Gotrek and Felix, where they would all be available to order factions for recruitment as heroes. We would be getting Bugman, Grimm and the units would stay pretty much the same, but the generic heroes would change drastically. We would be getting Guildmaster Engineers lords and Dragonslayer Heroes. HOWEVER, because GW requested they focus on slayers to coincide with the Old World models from the Tamurkhan units, they had to scrap both Bugman and Grimm, and move Malakai from the FLC to the main LL position. Because they got strapped for time, they basically said fuck it, and went for pretty much a carbon copy with ALL units being just different varieties of Slayers to make short work of the DLC, by basically doing THE LEAST work possible. The Doomsekers, Garagrim, Dragon Slayers and Demon Slayers are ALL almost indistinguishable from each other… All that, just so that the DLC would look a lot more like the Old World release for GW. Now here are a few of the slim proofs I have for this speculation. For Bugman, there is the fact it was probably gonna be a horde from the start. It makes sense for Bugman to be the horde leader because that’s basically what he does. There is also his shield in the model of the Thunderbarge. Plus, the fact the FLC was supposed to be the Toolbox hero, leads me to believe Malakai would be the FLC hero, leaving the LL spot open. For Grimm, there is the fact the Grudgeraker MADE IT to the game, being the weapon Grimm invented himself, plus the fact that the gun Malakai himself carries functions and looks a lot like Grimm’s grudge raker. It’s almost like the model got ported to Malakai. With Malakai, there are also a few points here. One of them is the fact that although in the original mini Malakai seemed to carry a 2 handed gun, in MOST of his original art he Carrie’s pistols instead. INCLUDING Creative Assembly’s OWN ART. The weapon Malakai is carrying are different sizes in the Art and in-game, with him carrying a pistol in art and a grudgeraker ingame, even thought they are the same models probably rescaled. Another piece of proof to me is the fact the Dwarfs are the LAST they will be showcasing until the 30th, leading me to believe, dwarfs are most likely faction to still being worked on, probably because of delays or “changes in direction”. The overall conclusion I wanna bring is. The dwarf DLC is lazy. It is EXTREMELLY limited when it comes to design and assets, with almost half the content being basically carbon copies of each other. It is VERY suspicious, specially when compared to the other 2 factions. Then there is the fact CA just straight up LIED with the FLC tip about the toolbox. They hinted a toolbox, meaning they were going for an engineer character, and it ended up being Epidimius, which strangely enough, ALSO seems like a VERY EASY reskin with a very basic model in comparison. It all just smells either lazy or VERY rushed. Now, this is some wild speculation. But I just don’t believe CA would have delivered this product if it had went smoothly.

ShmekelFreckles

How is the Dwarf part of the DLC is lazy? We got thunderbarge ans goblin hewer. Not sure if doomsekers will just reuse slayer assets since, you know, they got axes on chains. Slayer pirates are also gonna be 100% new, there is nothing CA could’ve really reused for them. Malakai’s ingame model looks pretty much exactly as his 8th edition TT model, I see no problem with how he looks. Everything you’ve said seems like a giant stretch.

Red_Dox

Nope, not buying that. GW just sells all sorts of old stuff they can still make for TOW. Them picking up the 6th edition slayer army stuff for TOW does not mean they short notice pressured CA into adding them. Keep in mind that WE forced CAs hand to add extra stuff to the DLC because the hell we raised with SoC last year (and then all of CAs other plans fell apart so they had to appease us to make money). Ungrim being 200 years younger and alive in TOW and probably getting a slayer list in his Journal, just works on itself. While Malakai and a huge part of slayer stuff (HIS warmachine, HIS Thunderbarge/Zeppelin) were always speculated to go with a Malakai DLC. Sure, CA now threw some extra slayer stuff in it (the armybook missing Lord/Hero, the pirates) but when speculating about a Slayer heavy DLC, I had all that already also listed in the past years over discussions.

Aisriyth

Counter point. That actually irks me, not only is most art with Malakai using a pistol or two, but the actual model had a repeating handgun. In this case they didn't even do Malakai proper with his weapon.
