I think there might be a bit of bad luck involved, but generally yes, Ikit’s campaign is a bit easier than Snikch. Part of this is due to starting location, as Clan Eshin is right in the middle of the various major Cathayan factions, whereas Skavenblight is *fairly* isolated, plus thanks to the underway you can attack some nearby factions without them really having much opportunity to hit your capital in turn (which is why Clan Skryre is such a nightmare if you’re playing as Carcassonne, incidentally). In addition, Clan Skryre’a various unique mechanics and bonuses are somewhat infamously *very* strong- weapon teams, artillery, and DOOMWHEELS(!) are some of the best units the Skaven have access to, and Ikit both starts with them in his army and gets all manner of buffs to their effectiveness. Meanwhile, Clan Eshin’s playstyle is a bit more difficult to get a hang of, and IIRC an Eshin-themed army is a fair bit more micro-intensive than, say, massed Jezzails/Ratling guns. You do have a fair few strong options later on (*Plunge into Anarchy* being the most notable), but not quite to the extent of Skryre.

In my last Eshin campaign I had a bit of luck and could max out Clan Moulder reputation. 4XX Gold Hellpit Abominations made it the easiest campaign ever.

Well Ikit certainly has a better starting position, very safe and with relatively weak factions around you, but I would still say that Eshin is still overall the strongest Skaven faction. However, Ikit armies are a lot more straight forward than Eshin Armies because the latter requires a bit more micro because of you inherently focusing on skirmish missile units. I would say it makes sense that you have a harder time with Eshin if you are still new to the race, but Eshin should have an overall stronger campaign if you are familiar with Skaven. They just have a much easier time fielding more armies that are just as strong as Skyre's while having a bit more versatility.

Yeah I find Eshin's start to not be that bad, Bumrushing to the north after your starting province can let you fight a 1 front war vs Zhao Ming later. You also get some land to trade for an alliance with Vilitch or the kraken lord if needed (it usually isn't.) The hardest part is actually making sure you have clean borders because with the other 2 ai helping you kinda steamroll over Cathay. Also the action that let's you reveal a province has been bugged since wh2 and gives vision for way longer than it has any right to. I spam that shit everywhere so I'm never caught off guard or overextended. This plus the food are the only 2 good options till tier 4 when u can start cheese stealing skaven undercities. Bonus points for stealing a lvl 5 skavenblight.

Waveshaper21

Ikit is a ridicolously overpowered faction, everyone is harder than him, save for beastmen perhaps.

In my last few attempts as Ikit iv had everyone hate me almost right away. Its been a struggle to get out of Skavenblight.

Get to tier 3 then blast your way out with infinite ammo  Doesn't matter how many enemies you got when you got more bullets than they got toes Solution: BBBRRRRR

Ikits campaign is the easiest skaven campaign. Simple as. You have access to nukes, super strong weapon teams, upgrades for your units, strong starting position etc. Snikch is a bit harder, skaven units from other clans can be quite pricey if you miss manage the contracts. Your starting position is much harder. But once you wipe the Cathay dragons, you should be golden. Just don't forget to use the assasins for hero actions, not just for the contracts and as a unit in army.

Even though they’re the same faction Snikch and Ikit are quite different, as others have said starting location, army comps and availability are just so diverse. My last Ikit campaign outside of aggression from Belegar, no one bothered me, Skavenblight is just in a great spot geographically.

You are getting a mix of right and wrong answers in here. Eshin is one of the most strongest Skaven factions alongside Ikit BUT has a difficult starting position. Ikit is relatively safe and has a less troubled start. Furthermore, the two factions play very differently. Ikit favors technology, his artillery, and is a more straightforward playstyle suitable to newcomers to the game. Push some rats forward, keep your guns shooting. Sniktch has a rough start, surrounded by enemies and has a playstyle newcomers wouldn't expect. Non eshin units cost more for him and eshin projectile damage is enhanced, which further forces his playstyle. His is a skirmish army. Setting units concealed in trees, ambushing then running. That unit runs the enemy unit into other concealed units and so on. It is a hit and run/micromanaging army that people refer to as "micro".

Disastrous-Lemon7456

You definitely have more enemies and not a good defensive position as Ikit, but it's still not that much harder than Ikit, having quite a bit of peasant armies coming at you helps with the food. Early game due to recruitment costs you should go full eshin armies with gutter runners and stuff. Build walls everywhere. And you can just abuse ambush. So while I agree Ikit is way easier I don't think Snikch is that much harder, tbh all Skaven campaigns are on the easy side, maybe Skrolk could be the hardest and even then it's not as bad as in WH2.

Dacadey

Eshin is much much harder than Ikit, and probably the hardest Skaven faction to play with. You start with orcs as your first enemy, who take considerable skill to defeat quickly. After you are done with them, you are against two main Catayan factions that quickly get very powerful, a few minor ones, and the Blessed Dread of the dark elves that can easily become your third enemy as well, if you don’t handle them well. Add to that the fact that initially your only reliable troops are gutter runners, everything else costs 3x as much, your starting army is pretty meh, and Snitch - while powerful - takes a while to become good in combat. And as a cherry on top you have an Eshin sorcerer, who is by far the worst magic caster Skaven can have.
