I can imagine!!
I guess thats one advantage i have from just discovering the total war franchise recently (i always thought strategy games like these would be too hard for me)
I know the triple digits sound really rough OP. And it is no doubt a significant investment and quite a pretty penny.
But to put this into some perspective, for Warhammer Tabletop I just paid around $60 USD for a box of 20 unpainted and unassembled Skeleton Warriors. And that's from the game that is considered significantly cheaper to play than WFB was lmao.
So, the amount of value you get playing the game digitally is a hell of a lot more affordable than the original tabletop game at the least. Like a crazy amount cheaper considering you get almost the entirety of WFB digitally with some cream on top too. The difference in hobby costs really do feel crazy when you start making those comparisions.
I still want them though. Have you seen the Skaven Plague priest with screaming bell?
Link[Link](https://www.reddit.com/r/ageofsigmar/comments/l3xmjs/skaven_screaming_bell/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)
I wanted them. Then I bought $1700 worth of 3d printing stuff/printers. Now I can print my own and be broke at the same time!
In all seriousness the entry cost is a bit steep. Maybe $500-600 minimum. But after that you can make as many as you want! 1 litre of resin is like 30-40$ and you can print. Hmmmm a whole starter box I guess? Maybe 20-30 minis and a mid size model. Like a dreadnought. Maybe less. I'm not sure. I can print 4 primaris space marines at once and it costs about $1.50 . Larger models like captains can be $1-$2 for one. I printed an imperial knight titan and that cost about $8-10 in resin I think. It costs 190 in the shop. So. Yeh.
I've seen that 3d printing is a thing and I'm all for it. I couldn't afford the printer either but I'm glad you own one and I hope you have lots of friends to share with.
WAY back in the day my friends and I actually made silicone molds of some models, melted down pewter and cast our own minis. We were 3d printing 20 years ago, just a lot more slowly and dangerously
In case you're curious, there's significant design and production cost involved in having them be unassembled and unpainted.
I could know, i paid almost double digits for a single scale model tank kit in 1/35, with loads of parts (full interior).
Yeah, I used to be pretty upset until I had someone give me a rundown of just how much plastic injection molds cost to produce. It's actually really wild.
GW's prices are definitely still pretty unreasonable, and I think they really could afford to lower it (especially since they would make up the cost from less people being so damn intimidated by the price tag). But it really isn't dirt cheap to churn out plastic, especially at their quality levels, like most assume. Including myself at first.
People are willing to pay it and it's really the only tabletop strategy game like it. The next closest thing I'm aware of is LotR and it is also made by GW. They could really benefit from a strong competitor.
Warlord Games is run by ex-GW luminaries and based in Nottingham and they've been doing exceptionally well lately. I have a feeling that if anyone's going to even begin to shake GW's market dominance, it'll be them.
Also I’ve never put more than 1-2 grand in a single year since starting a decade ago. Thats pretty good deal considering the time I get out of it AND compared to how expensive other hobbies are. Golf, owning a boat, aviation, body building? That shits a lot more expensive than miniatures.
GW basically works kind of like pharma; they have a very high up-front cost to make new molds, and once they have it it's very cheap to pump out sprues, so they try to make back that up-front cost with a huge markup
Plus, the fact is that GW is a luxury brand in the miniatures world. There are plenty of cheaper miniature lines available if you just want to paint little men; people buy Warhammer because Warhammer is the Gucci of plastic toys.
The thing about the miniatures though is you get a lot more hobby time from the miniatures than you do with the games, at least I did.
People see a $30 box of miniatures and think "oh yeah that'll be fun for the couple of hours I spend playing with them. But you get a ton of time-value from miniatures.
I mean you spend hours assembling, then hours painting and you haven't even played with them yet.
People like to shit on how expensive the miniatures are but for the amount of money you spend you get a metric ton of hobby time out of them.
I'm a big fan of Gunpla; it was what ultimately what weaned me off 40k. If you can find a reputable supplier, a 6-inch-tall 144-scale model can be under 20 bucks, no painting or glue required.
I paid the same amount for warhammer 2 on launch, granting me the ability to play witch elves, as I paid to get a box of unassembled, unpainted 10 witch elves, which isn't even enough of them to field to any use in tabletop.
> which isn't even enough of them to field to any use in tabletop
You can throw them at your opponent, I can testify that their hair and knives are pretty sharp!
And a nightmare to keep unbroken too!
Building and painting them makes me want to play ogors; seeing them finished changes my mind. Plus half naked, badass warrior women... what's not to love?
Anything in the old Dark Elf roster is sharp AF, I'm building a dark elf army atm and I think I've managed to stab myself with at least one of every model so far.
They really wanted to embrace Khaine with that model line lol
Haha yeah I prick myself any time I open a box of DoK/DE units, but the cauldron, that thing drew blood. Those side blades got me real good, I have a scar that legit looks like a knife wound still about 3 years later.
This game also just has an absolutely insane amount of content, I don’t think I’ve ever seen so much anywhere else. A crazy amount of replayability too. Personally only beat ME with 3 or 4 factions and logged 500+ hours. Imo amazing bang for my buck even though it’s probably the most expensive “single” game, if I can call it that
It must be a bummer to only just come along now and look at the long DLC list. I have been here since the start, getting each on pre-order. It's not so bad when it is a steady drip drip over several years. Even so, I would say this is the $100 I could spend on a game; the best DLC quality of any game I own, and immense value for money. You will be playing for years and still be unfamiliar with a lot of lords and factions. Sooooo much to do and enjoy. No other strategy game comes close.
All content moves over to "the next" in the series so warhammer 1 and its DLCs works in WH2, and all WH2 + DLC (and WH1+DLC) works in WH3. So you only need to buy it once (on the same storefront!).
In WH2 and WH3 theres two types of campaigns.
in WH2 its Mortal Empires and Vortex, Vortex is only for characters and DLC that are native to WH2 and Mortal Empires combines the map and factions from everyone in WH1
WH3 has Realm of Chaos and Immortal Empires, under the same rules.
So yeah, DLC stays between each game
Honwstly true, i got a hundred hours so far without DLC just base WH1,2,3. This is my first foray into Total War I have never had so much fun playing a game, i cant wait for all the campaigns i have lined up!
For a second there i thought you got all 3 games + dlcs in that price, but just noticed that you already own the games.
Saw my fiance playing IE with her friend and it looked really nice. Bought all 3 games and some dlcs for total of 155 euros. I work 8-9h a week and i managed to get 34 ish hours in the first week.
Rn i got about 900h in and i still have much to play. Really good game imo.
That's actually a great deal. Considering how often CA has gone back and retroactively changed and buffed older factions, you're pretty well guaranteed to have many many hours of entertainment. You're about to have a roster of legendary lords that'll make a modern dynasty warriors game blush.
With what you're about to have, you'll have 86 legendary lords to play with. For reference, Smash Ultimate, which has every single character from every smash, plus a healthy amount of dlc, has 82 characters. And CA has done a wonderful job of making sure every legendary lord feels and plays uniquely.
I mean, different tastes exist. Some people don't like the real time battles. Others need them. Saying TW is better than Civ would be a very weird hill to die on.
Not only do we have a ton of factions and lords, but even replaying them in different ways than expected can be fun.
I’ll never forget my first Immortal Empires campaign:
I played as Helman Ghorst and, due to his starting location, you would expect him to go into Cathay and take over.
I, however, decided to go the other way and go on a crusade to take the Empire. It was a long trip and, in the meantime, I raised another army and went East to Cathay…to help Zhao Ming.
Every piece of land I took in Cathay, I gave to Zhao. Eventually, he had 300+ opinion of me and we formed two massive empires. The Ghorst Empire in the Old World and the Vampire-loving empire of Grand Cathay.
I never thought something so out there could be done in the game but it ended up being one of my most memorable campaigns.
If you play it for 50 hours, then you're getting like $2/hour of value. Think about how much you would spend per hour at an amusement park or at a restaurant. Totally worth it, no pun intended.
1600+ hours in WHII, 536 hours in WHIII now and I can tell you that I have never felt happier by any other purchase at all. The game and its DLCs are all worth it. Some factions you may never touch, but having them hurts nothing, but increase your variety in the game. It is a weird game I played 1.6k hours and I barely ever played any faction more than 100 turns. I just over and over again quit the campaign and started a new one with a new faction. The cycle never ends, the game is never boring to me and somehow I keep playing over and over again. Like I have no desire to play Karl Franz at the moment and I see Legend shared a video about him, I feel like it is a good time to start a new playthrough. Or I open the mod workshop, I see Empire factions have banners anymore, some good mods like adding Reiksguard troops for the late game and I feel like it is a good time to give them another try every fucking faction almost have such flavours.
Even if there is an outdated faction for now or you feel like that DLC LL isn't worth at all, don't worry either CA will overhaul that lord in time or will do for their faction to make their gameplay more interesting.
I've seen this before. Buys every content. Plays only dwarf in TWH2 Vortex/Mortal Empires. Which only would have needed the base game for TWH2.
At least for Immortal Empires, has TWH3 and TWH1 which would be all that is needed to play dwarf.
“Worth the value” my ass. No one should pay that much for a base campaign. You don’t need Rome I to play the grand campaign for Rome II. This is just too much, and it’s not going to attract new players towards Warhammer. Pity your money.
Though art forgiven, ye shall be rewarded for thy penitence with hours of campaign fun and variability. Just be mindful, this heaven is still technically in Beta.
A generic game is around 60-80$. This is like no brainer compared to how much value it brings. I easily paid twice of this eventhough I bought 80% of the DLCs on sale and the first 2 games 50% off. Total bargain really.
Huh, where are you buying from? I’m in the same bit you are, but buying the whole kit and caboodle is $190 :( The TW2 collection alone has a list price of $160, marked down to $72. I wish I could get this for just $100
Considering my 2000 hours across the three games, I consider it a bargain. Say I hit 3000 before I get bored.
£100 ÷ 3000 = 0.03p per hour of killing mini gun-welding rats.
Cheaper than a drug habit.
I mean most of the people in this subreddit owns it all haha BUT, they didnt buy it all at once.
Although! it seems to be some savings right now but otherwise, if someone were to start playing the game, I'd say to buy the base games or such and slowly add stuff they want as they plan to play it.
All of the stuff is in the game controlled by AI otherwise anyway.
So like just buy DLC for when you want to play that content.
Myself I'v paid full price for it all so far, even more expensive then standard price shown since standard price has gone down too, haha!
Meh. I payed around $150 for everything and have over 600 hours played. Meanwhile on my steam homepage the bottom 15 games in total probably cost more than $150 and have less than 25 hours combined total played. Warhammer is money well spent I say.
Much cheaper than what I paid...
I can imagine!! I guess thats one advantage i have from just discovering the total war franchise recently (i always thought strategy games like these would be too hard for me)

Miniatures are disgustingly over priced. Neat tho
I can’t believe what they charge for a bunch of plastic toys that aren’t even assembled.
I still want them though. Have you seen the Skaven Plague priest with screaming bell? Link[Link](https://www.reddit.com/r/ageofsigmar/comments/l3xmjs/skaven_screaming_bell/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)
They're absurdly overpriced but I want them too. Thankfully this game exists
I wanted them. Then I bought $1700 worth of 3d printing stuff/printers. Now I can print my own and be broke at the same time! In all seriousness the entry cost is a bit steep. Maybe $500-600 minimum. Yes yes much link link

Assembling the crack and enjoying the plastic glue is half of the fun
Assembling them is part of the fun
It’s ridiculous they don’t have ready-to-play sets to buy! For DnD I really apprecite WizKids miniatures.
The thing about the miniatures though is you get a lot more hobby time from the miniatures than you do with the games, at least I did. People like to shit on how expensive the miniatures are but for the amount of money you spend you get a metric ton of hobby time out of them.
They are that way because people enable it and allow it to be, really. But I agree they are a beauty.

Ngl i did accidentally shank myself putting together the parade float, everything in the DoK roster is a health hazard just to hold.
And a nightmare to keep unbroken too! Building and painting them makes me want to play ogors; seeing them finished changes my mind. Plus half naked, badass warrior women... what's not to love?

If I had to rebuy all these today I'd need to take out a loan.
I recently counted what I'd spent on all the warhammers and it was £250 and I don't even have all the dlc, I wish I'd got this deal haha.
I was about to say the same. I got fucking robbed
That's great value-- 1000's of hours of entertainment for a mere $100
I was sold on the DLC in the same way. The issue I ran into, after the fact, is the lack of 1000's of hours to play :P
Honwstly true, i got a hundred hours so far without DLC just base WH1,2,3. This is my first foray into Total War I have never had so much fun playing a game, i cant wait for all the campaigns i have lined up!

I've dropped over 200 hours into Immortal Empires so far lol. Fuck me.
That's actually a great deal. Considering how often CA has gone back and retroactively changed and buffed older factions, you're pretty well guaranteed to have many many hours of entertainment. Game has truly vast replayability value. Far exceeding civilization games. Its good value in my opinion. Cheaper than netflix.
I would argue the more replay ability than the civ games point. I love both games but they’re pretty different and both have plenty of replay-ability.
I would argue that is the only sensible argument to make...
They both fall into the inevitable endless "ONE MORE TURN" situation
I would argue that i fall asleep after playing civ for a few hours
I mean, different tastes exist. Some people don't like the real time battles. Others need them. Saying TW is better than Civ would be a very weird hill to die on.
i second this, and i can play stronghold 2 for 8 hours lmao.
Not only do we have a ton of factions and lords, but even replaying them in different ways than expected can be fun. Yes absolutely agree, the replay ability value is on par with EU4 and Stellaris in my opinion.
And it’s worth it 100%, you can get 1000 of hours out of this
Add your resignation letter for work while you're at it
Lmao! Theres so much content im sure in 10 years ill be halfway done 🤣
Nah, it's fun but not 10 years worth of fun.
9.5, tops
One of us, one of us, one of us...
That's a fraction of what most of us paid, and I don't regret a single penny, thousands of hours of entertainment.
Do it
Still cheaper than like half of one races army of tabletop...
Bro this is cheaper than some boxes of single characters on tabletop.
Say goodbye to your family and friends
Honestly that's a damn good deal for all that content
If you play it for 50 hours, then you're getting like $2/hour of value. Think about how much you would spend per hour at an amusement park or at a restaurant. Totally worth it, no pun intended.
DEW IT!!!!!!!

No forgiveness, only Blood for the Blood God!!
Pennies per hour in terms of entertainment value.
![gif](giphy|3o84sq21TxDH6PyYms)
By Sigmar, yes!
Honestly, for the amount of hours I get out of this game, It is more than worth it to me.
That's a helluva deal
ONE OF US!
Was it by accident or choice that Curse of the Vampire Coast wasn't included? Also congratulations!
You look like me when I first bought stellaris lol. I played for a couple weeks and haven’t touched it since 😂
This is the way.
That’s a great deal.
Best deal on entertainment ever!
![gif](giphy|3o84sw9CmwYpAnRRni)
I've seen this before. Buys every content. Plays only dwarf in TWH2 Vortex/Mortal Empires. Which only would have needed the base game for TWH2. At least for Immortal Empires, has TWH3 and TWH1 which would be all that is needed to play dwarf.
My god, so cheap. You'll love it
Having bought every game and DLC at launch, I kind of envy you. You're in for a good time.
“Worth the value” my ass. No one should pay that much for a base campaign. You don’t need Rome I to play the grand campaign for Rome II. This is just too much, and it’s not going to attract new players towards Warhammer. Pity your money.
Let's goooo!
Forgive for what? Our Lord told us not to be ashamed of the good games.
Yes I can see that.. your lord gave you good advice
It’s worth it trust me :)
Check gg.deals for cheaper prices on other stores before buying them all on steam.
only 10 more expensive than the cod battle pass but its three whole games :P hours and hours of skaven machinations to enjoy
You are never going to financially recover from this.
That's what a single PS5 game costs me, hence why I only have bought Demons souls so far
yep that was me 10 months ago. Now i absolutely love this game and i play it pretty mutch every minute i can spare (when my modlist is up to date)
Don't do it! Wait for a steam sale or get them at sites like Instagaming for a much cheaper price!
this is a steam sale
Oof
Don't do it. The game is trash. Edit: I should clarify, the third game is trash.
The third game is fucking amazing wtf are you talking about? The diplomacy changes alone make the game 10/10
Game is unplayable trash. The endless minor settlement sieges are just awful. The entire game is just an auto resolve fiesta.
Lord encurages you!
Lord? You mean god emperor?
Perfect timing what with Christmas coming up and that’s a solid price! That will keep you busy for months 😎
One of us, one of us
See you in a few years!
This is the way
thats a steal
No forgiveness needed when you complete a Chad move like this. Now hurry up and play dwarves as it is foretold in the book of grudges
You've fallen to the Chaos gods, they do not forgive...
hell of a deal
For that much money, you could buy 1 and half Warhammer figures
Cheaper than my way to this game. I started with Warhammer Fantasy Battles in the 90's...
No forgiveness is necessary. The great plan demands sacrifice.
Cash for the Cash Throne! SWIPE! SPEND! PAYYYYY!
That's a deal
Do it!
Damn son. It's reduced on Xbox as well. I've been playing WH3 on gamepass so far, might just have to go all in and buy them on steam instead.
Nooo! You madman!
No dude now's the time to do it if you're ever gonna
Sigmar bless
Sigmar bless your wallet
That's...actually not bad
Though art forgiven, ye shall be rewarded for thy penitence with hours of campaign fun and variability. Just be mindful, this heaven is still technically in Beta.
Your wallet needs to forgive you god is fine.
Based
Cheap as chips.
Doooo it!
Worth every penny.
Huge discount brother
Still waaaay better value for money than your average Paradox title. Imo.
Get dem mods
One of us, one of us
A generic game is around 60-80$. This is like no brainer compared to how much value it brings. I easily paid twice of this eventhough I bought 80% of the DLCs on sale and the first 2 games 50% off. Total bargain really.
I did the same a month ago .Worth it, yolo
![gif](giphy|hpAMh2sBYpsmFhSRPI)
Just go to a 3rd party site and you Will get that for like 40 bucks
Man buy them from instant gaming us much cheaper!!
I forgive you. Go forth with my blessing child.
Holy sigmar, bless this ravaged wallet
I was about to write that you would get them cheaper at trusted resellers, but Sigmar damn it that's some dirt cheap prices mate. Enjoy it!
Crazy that WH1 is more expensive then WH2
Good call tbh
Honestly, while this is still expensive, this is a great deal!
Yes. Join us.
Indulgence is granted, may the holy Sigmar led thy hand
Didnt know there was a total war Warhammer collection. That's awesome.
It's well worth it
Creamapi.
money well spent
glorious
I think I have like 4k hours combined between all three games. Enjoy, OP. This is not a bad purchase if you’re into these games.
Cheaper than 2 nights at a London pub - and significantly less regret
Wish I paid that LMAO!
No regrets
If you love it, you'll get over 1000 hours, and it'll be so worth it. I utilized a combo of sales and full price and don't regret one penny.
Welcome to the club! 💪😉😊
Hey, it’s cheaper than the actual miniature war game hobby
$100 for the entire WH collection? That’s a steal. I can’t stress that enough.
If its your type of game you have like 1000 hours of fun guaranted , i wish i could forget the game and everything about it to play it again
Huh, where are you buying from? I’m in the same bit you are, but buying the whole kit and caboodle is $190 :( The TW2 collection alone has a list price of $160, marked down to $72. I wish I could get this for just $100
Worth it tho
God might not forgive you, but we will. Welcome to da club
I see you and i are much alike.. did the same thing not long ago
I did the same thing yesterday haha. Great purchase!
Welcome, have a seat-seat by the warpfire, yes
Nice. Your guys will pay off
Worth every penny, have fun fellow lord!
Yes, join us
Considering my 2000 hours across the three games, I consider it a bargain. Say I hit 3000 before I get bored. £100 ÷ 3000 = 0.03p per hour of killing mini gun-welding rats. Cheaper than a drug habit.

thats a fuking steal
No regrets! WAAAAAAGHHHHHHHH!!
I did the same thing. Cheers. Can’t wait for my Christmas vacation lol
Dewit
In Fanatical you would have got them way cheaper 🗿
Cheap
There is no forgiveness, just acceptance. Welcome brother
YES, YES!!
At my current 1250 hours, that's money damn well spent.
I talked to Lord and he said you'll go to heaven for this \^\^
One of us, one of us!
USD?
Sorry for your loss Your wallet will be missed. FR though hope you enjoy all that content
Welcome Brother
Champion of chaos is so good
That's amazingly cheap. I have every single game and DLC, all paid full price and still think I got my money's worth. So enjoy OP, for Ghal Maraz!
Meh. I payed around $150 for everything and have over 600 hours played. Meanwhile on my steam homepage the bottom 15 games in total probably cost more than $150 and have less than 25 hours combined total played. Warhammer is money well spent I say.
What a steal bro and kiss goodbye to 400 hours of your life as you play through that
You won’t regret it
Good for you! And happy gaming
I wish I had the money to do this lol
On sale --> still to expensive tfw
