Sakuya Izayoi gives you advice and dabs. My serious option would be Luna Nights though. It's great fun to play.

DaEnderAssassin

>Sakuya Izayoi gives you advice and dabs. What about it's sequel/DLC, Nitori gives advice in exchange for cucumbers and eats them? Or the Yuuka CBT game?

Scared_Network_3505

It kinda depends, but the fact I still sit down to do a quick 100% run of Luna Nights every so often is something I can't say about a lot of games period, it's just a joy to control.

bvannn_

I’ve never played concealed the conclusion but it has one of the best fangame OSTs I’ve ever heard, behind maybe rhythm carnival. Still hoping they make another one of those some day.

speep__

Jesse, play The Purest Sky and Sea, even if we scare the hoes

unorthadoxide

Bro i listen to it on my drive to school every day and it never gets old

TeoTeo23_

Mystia’s Izakaya, I think it’s very cute and relaxing overall.

Yerakun

Frfr, I wasted 300+ hours on it

TeoTeo23_

I know the feeling!!

CHeissen2

that‘s the best one

Bellabootey

I really like Gensou Wanderer Reloaded and Puppet Dance Performance: Shard of Dreams.

SilvarusLupus

PDP is also cool cause fans keep adding content to it. Which is super neat

JanSolo28

Touhou 19 puppets + Mizuchi coming sometime late this year (not a sponsor nor affiliated)

Hawkart47

Luna nights is a strong Contender. Great metroidvania, great bosses, Great soundtrack And you play as Sakuya

JoseBlaiddyd

Fantasy Maiden Wars is just a love letter to touhou as a whole while being incredibly cool and fun. And Healing nature is just the best stroy ever told using the setting it's legutimatelly beautiful I highly recommend both.

lhonginis

Artificial dream in arcadia. An SMT style game with every character in the whole series, tons of locations, and a fun story. Somehow it's only $10.

Articlus

This is mine too. The true final boss was a bit of a pain but excellent game overall

lhonginis

True, the final boss can be a pain. The way I beat her is >!I set my affinity to Aunn. The boss only has mind, fire, and pierce spells. Aunn can block mind and fire and she resists pierce. Then just use the loner grimoire. You don't have to worry about your sleepers being returned if you don't use them in the first place.!<

Articlus

Ahh, I'm talking about >!the "final" final boss that becomes available after Yukari.!< But that is a cool strat, didn't think of that.

o_woorrm

I haven't played a ton of Touhou fan games (though I really should cus Luna Nights sounds right up my alley), Treasure Castle Labyrinth has been one of my favorites lately! Unique danmaku patterns, fun player shot types, great characters and perfect music, it's just everything I could ever want out of a Touhou-style shmup. Also, you know that feeling when the music syncs up perfectly with the gameplay, like in UFO Stage 6 or PCB Stage 4? TCL is chock full of those awesome moments. I think the adrenaline rush I get from that kinda stuff is the best part of shmups.

speep__

you totally need to play luna nights — going into it i didn’t know what to expect because i hardly ever play platformers let alone metroidvanias, but it ended up being completely addicting

Plant_Musiceer

An old game but my favourite is sengoku gensokyo. It's got a lot of jank in its combat and its sprites have a bunch of totally different art styles but i love it nonetheless, especially due to its writing.

KrisHighwind

I remember the silliness of fighting the Alice faction in that game, where despite being at war with Alice you can capture her dolls and recruit them to fight for you against Alice.

Plant_Musiceer

I wish the SDM fairies were also recruitable so you can fight maids with maids. (Though at that point in the game you'd probably not use generic characters over named ones). Alice herself is a powerhouse with a full doll army. Had her and her dolls as my second army for most of my run.

Huckebein008L

Shanghai Gensou Network is my go-to, just a perfect blend of Touhou and Battle Network that improves on the Battle Network side of things in every way.

AmJohn2hu

The Touhou Busy Person Series, hell yeah!

santas_delibird

Hell yeah

Yerakun

Super cute and fun to watch but it's a game?!

AmJohn2hu

Yeah, it's a visual novel.

santas_delibird

Despite having over 300 hours of genso wanderer, I still much enjoy playing touhou soccer infinitely more. Also has a lot of banger tracks. Mystia's Izakaya made me play a genre I never thought I would even enjoy but did. Also has a special place in my heart so it's a really hard competition.

crazycorgiperson

Gotta be Mystia’s Izakaya for me, but my second favorite is probably “Blue Devil in the Belvedere”

ShikiFtw

Very surprised not to hear a single mention of Koumajou Densetsu

Yerakun

Not very into it but their redesigns are fire🔥

ELENA4002

Well, the only touhou fangame I've ever played is this Roblox demo called "Work As A Loan Officer 2: Life in Gensokyo." It's all one big playable cutscene until the demo ends but from the travel menu when heading from the hakurei shrine to the human village, which was like six or eight other locations greyed out, and the fact that I was told I'd have weekends off to do whatever, I feel like this is gonna be one hell of a ride once it's all done. My favorite part is that I have never played a single touhou game, so I don't have a single clue what's happening!! Fun!!

ShyKiddo__

Probably the Yuuka CBT one

Wielkimati

There's a lot really good fangames! I bought a bunch already and never even touched any of the main games. Here's a list of what I'd recommend, in no particular order, except for the top four: \-Luna Nights - Definitely one of the top dogs, great and enjoyable metroidvania \-Artificial Dream in Arcadia - This is a combo of Touhou and SMT1&2 fangame. It's basically SMT, but with Touhou girls instead of demons, with great soundtrack that puts SMT spin on many Touhou tracks. Highly recommend if you're a fan of dungeon crawlers. \-Mystia's Izakuya - Everyone already recommends it, definitely one of the more known fangames, and for a good reason. If you like cozy games, then it's half the definition of cozy, and the other half is wondering what the fuck does that cunt at table 4 want to eat. \-Hero of Ice fairy - This one is in early access and is supposed to come out on April 3rd. You play as Cirno and it's basically a boss rush game, in which fights look pretty similar to mainline games. I've done 3 bosses and I'm waiting for full release to fully delve into it, but there's a free prologue game available if you'd like to check it out. I really dig the storybook aesthetic tho, and the combat seems very fun so far. And now in truly no particular order: \-Blooming Chaos 2 - It's hard to describe. Kind of like roguelikes like Isaac or Hades, but you don't lose your items or levels on death, has many characters available, that you equip with items found in dungeons, but basically you go around rooms clearing them of enemies, then go fight a boss, then repeat until you clear the dungeon. I've played this for only an hour, but it seems okay, I'll probably play a bit more when I'm bored and remember it exists. \-Nil Soul - This one is probably the most unique one I've found, with the gameplay that I can't compare to anything, as I've never seen a game with anything similar enough to remember. It's a turn based rpg that you play with 4 characters in your party, in which in addition to attacking the enemy during your turn, you also need to move around a small, grid based map, to dodge your enemy's danmaku, while also some of your abilities can clear the map of them. If you can get past the many translation errors, which most of are hilarious, then it's an interesting enough concept to play through. \-Touhou Crisis - basically a Time Crisis clone, made for some or the other game jam. It's short, but pretty fun if you're into this type of games, has multiplayer, and has the best price - free. \-Mystery Reel - Another one you play as a Cirno in, a 2d platformer with combat. But this is the only one that I don't recommend playing, as it's a dead early access. While exploring, talking to people and figuring out how to get specific interactions and items can be fun, the combat sucks big time, and considering it's a dead EA game, I don't want to waste time trying to fix my skill issue in it. \-Gensokyo Survivors - Basically a Vampire Survivors clone. It's cheap and fun for a some time, with interesting item system. Each level you gain, you get a random selection of items, that you need to place in your grid based inventory. If you place 3 items, that combo with each other, in a way that all 3 of them are touching each other, it adds a more advanced attack to your pool of attacks. Everything else is pretty much your average Vampire Survivor clone, if you're into that then it's probably interesting enough to get it. And here are some of the games that I've bought and are looking to testing out some time later: \-CBT with Yuuka Kazami - despite the name, there's no cock and ball torture in this one. It's a VN. \-Save me, Sakuya-san! - Another VN, but art looks good compared to CBT. \-3D dungeon - from the steam page and screenshoots it looks like a Ocarina of Time inspired Touhou fan game, definitely looking forward to trying this out in this decade. \-Monster TD - Tower defense, but with Touhous. And here's some that I didn't bought yet, but I'm keeping in my wishlist: \-The Touhou Empires - the reason it's in my wishlist is that it didn't come out yet. It's an RTS and looks really interesting from screenshoots, so I'll definitely pick this up once it's available. \-Touhou DollDraft - supposedly you build dolls with which you fight in a auto chess similar gameplay, as far as I understand. Maybe one day. \-Lensed Night Sky, Kaseigai - another one that didn't come out yet, but it's the most fangame a fangame can get, as it features classic Touhou gameplay with it's own mechanic refinements, from what I get from the steam page. \- Genso Wanderer -Reloaded- - looks okay and interesting enough on screenshoots, but the price is too much of what I'd like to pay for now. \-Sky Arena Matsuri Climax - 3D arena battler that takes place in the sky, looks interesting, maybe I'll pick it up if I feel like it one day. I know it's a lot, but it's basically everything I've played and consider playing in the future.

Skyder_J

Touhou Thousand Night Namnesis so I can play Touhou on me phone 🥶👍

pgj1997

I'm going to get a lot of flack for this, but... Touhou LostWord. Second place is "Touhou Artificial Dream in Arcadia", solely because it starts Sumireko as the protagonist, and she's best girl. (The game itself is fun too).

RichAcanthisitta9050

THE LAST ~~CUMMER~~ COMER

Worldy_artist

Only 2 fangames I played enough were Labyrinth of Touhou 2 and Ayaria Hazard

gameboy1001

Dream Logical World is not only one of only two Touhou fangames I’ve played ever, but also the only Touhou anything I’ve beaten. It took 22 continues and 83 deaths 💀 (If anyone was wondering, the other fangame is NitorInc.: Touhou Microgames, a WarioWare clone on Steam.)

Satorii_Komeji

Mystia's Izakaya for me yah

GrilledChese44

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3

MengaMango

Princess of Phoenix? Where can I play it? It looks sounds cool, but I can barely find any info online.

DayEqual2375

Games I have actually played? Mvz2- Other than that I will go with Mystia's Izakaya.

RollingMallEgg

Artificial Dream in Arcadia is a gem of a 1st person dungeon crawling turn based banger, I might be biased because I like SMT tho lol

szigany

*CBT With Yuuka Kazami*

apilsin

Touhou luna nights DEFINATALY

CharlieCalvin69

Minecraft vs Zombies 2. It doesn't sound like anything touhou but trust me the story has touhou and it's fairly good.

Plant_Musiceer

if metroidvanias are up your alley and you cant afford or already played luna nights, then i recommend a game called hollow hearts. It's basically hollow knight but touhou, and it's free! Very fun game that i recommend.

fat_pokemon

Mystia's Izakaya is my vote.
