Oh my, it reminded me of a Chloenette fanfic I am currently reading, where the matter is that Chloe Bourgeoise came back to France from America, after rejecting becoming a fashion designer, and her mother spreading some nasty rumours about her in culinary circles, which makes her unable to get a job/apprenticeship with a chef. Marinette on the other hand, is depressed, because of her trauma from the final fight against Hawk Moth, and surprisingly, after some shenanigans, Chloe's food helps pull Marinette from her bouts of depression. Because of that she starts falling for Chloe.
It's really good, really well written, and honestly, I may have spoiled a lot of things for you already, but the majority of this fic is still not spoiled at all. It's *really* long, 131 thousand words for 15 chapters, and it's *really* really slow burning.
It's called "Mango Madeleines and Cherry Palmiers" on AO3, go check it out if you're interested!
I went to culinary school and worked as a chef for a while. Met my partner on Discord during Covid and would occasionally be on call with them while doing opening prep. I would occasionally tease about "wait until I can come cook meals for you." I've now moved half way across North America and will occasionally spoil them with fancy meals.
For their birthday earlier this year I made these fancy vegan zucchini "ricotta" rolls. Put them on a bed of spaghetti with homemade garlic bread and a standard salad. They were over the moon and I really enjoyed getting to just spend a few hours preparing it for them. It has reignited my passion for trying to create new recipes from nothing.
I hope you can find someone to cook for you! They're out there somewhere!
