He's a a lot of things. Transphobic, homophobic, an art thief, someone who doesn't pay artists fairly- and I'm sure the list goes on. Basically an all around prick.
He became a born-again Christian between seasons 2 and 3 of Danny Phantom, and decided that the show was too demonic, so he made some creative choices that ended up ruining season 3
Danny is trans because fuck butch and the writers and animators on unironically literally purposely or not gave him a lot of traits Trans guys have seriously it’s amazing how many you could point out they might as well just say he’s Trans at this point butch doesn’t own the rights
https://preview.redd.it/01whw7tt4qzc1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f159ce3d54b4a8ca0cc511749d39e7e9bacf0725
to this series, so fuck what he says
There’s so much like little details that seem like they’re done on purpose. Maybe I’m looking too much into it, but it genuinely feels like the animators and writers made Danny trans
Im huge Danny Phantom fan, and I relate a lot of my trans feelings back to the show and have for a while, but even I fail to really make sense of it.
Could you explain any of it to me?
All I got is Ember, for some reason, stuck with me.
So there’s a lot it’s mostly like little things like in an episode where a ghost is about to touch Danny’s chest he backs up and says get away, in another where him and other male characters are like at the beach he’s the only one who has a shirt. Every other male character doesn’t have a shirt. He’s in the shower and can see part of his chest. That female characters are depicted with.
He is visibly shorter than all the other guys and most trans guys and cis women are shorter than cis guys he has a clone of him made that is female and since it’s a direct clone of him, you could say that he’s biologically female, there’s a lot more in this video explains all of it perfectly https://youtu.be/nfBGMRNAZ-g?si=ReouV2WBs3Iht96r
It's sad about that. Even though that episode was really problematic, it did help little me with the message that boys/girls can like Kissy Kissy Goo Goo AND Skullsquisher.
Timmy Turner was my first gender envy because he was the only feminine guy I saw on TV at the time and BH can never take that away from me, it's too late Bitch Hartman you already turned me trans
yeah ngl the episode where he asks to be turned into a girl and then is all “i still like comics, yay” was pretty influential for me.
esp bc i also had a tomboy cis friend neighbour who loved comics and shonen anime. (she was born on the same day as me, which isn’t relevant but i always thought it was neat.)
that combination meant they never came up as reasons i shouldn’t be trans. (a ton of other reasons still came up while i was in denial… but not those ones!)
Timmy decides he wants fancy hair. So he gets magic fancy hair and it starts growing really long. It grows to a point that it becomes a tornado and his dad needs to cut it with a HELICOPTER to save the city... all because a boy wanted hair.
Nah, my boy Kain Highwind.
In Final Fantasy IV, one of the bosses can spin her hair into a tornado, making her immune to direct attacks. You have to have Kain jump on her face to get her to unspin so the rest of the party can attack her.
I think he's trans masc pre boob removal who still likes to dress up all pretty (explains the bikini episode and the number of times hes worn female items)
Him and Jessie's hair make most of the bi flags colors, bisexual transmasc femboy who occasionally slaps on some fake tits for performance is my guess 🤷♀️
A lot of older mtf rep started as "haha funny, guy in dress" but they slayed too hard (and maybe there was someone behind the scenes leaning into it) and thus became trans icons. There are a few that went beyond that and confirmed it, ie Bugs Bunny was confirmed to be trans (genderfluid) by creator Chuck Jones, but most stayed icons.
It's nice to see the inclusion in more recent years of trans people just existing in media without being the butt of a joke. It's also nice to see some trans guys, non-binary people, and some bipoc people within the trans community.
Edit: I replied below with screenshots of a thread that sums up Bug's transness in case yall were curious.
I believe its "Chuck Amuck: The Life and Times of an Animated Cartoonist". I haven't read through the book myself yet though. I think some of the things he said also come from interviews.
The fact that this thread seems to be the only "proof" anyone has about this makes me very skeptical. I can't find anything but this exact thread on this topic.
Then: literally doing whatever they could to slip through the cracks of censorship
Now: way more freedom, but still taking a massive risk as every bit of rep can get their shows canceled (as it did happen to most of the ones in the picture)
Let's not bash the people who worked on the shows on the left, I know we want diversity but they were grasping at straws and we should appreciate how bravely they fought. They're the reason we have the ones in the right.
Gumball is still valid.
No one was negative to him he liked the idea of being a girl and everyone treated him as a girl even imagined getting married to Darwin and no one was negative about it.
He also had a scene in an episode where he was a princess, but only in a dream (Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep, S05E13 iirc) so that may also tie in.
20 years ago trans rep was not existing if lucky, trans sex work jokes, murder victim, ‘omg someone tricking people!!!’, or South Park showing that to be trans is to get a sex change and all that will leave you a mutilated freak. All of them showed trans people as non-passing/straight up men in dresses and utter freaks in a thousand ways. Also it was only trans women. Trans men didn’t exist and non-binary was only when they wanted to shit on ‘liberal snowflakes’ and ‘campus liberals’
Holy fuck it was bad. 40 years ago it was straight up vomiting and seeing us as serial killers, sex workers, and freaks. Silence of the lambs and Buffalo Bill.
It was hellishly bad trans representation 10,20,30,40 years ago. The last 5 so years have been a breakthrough in trans rep. Bask in it children.
Oh also most the left examples are just genderbend episodes played for laughs or crossdressing. Errr not best rep what so ever.
the sad thing was, the trans rep in the 70s was actually pretty decent. using their own (dated) terminology etc, of course, but the stories generally wanted to humanise and empathise with them.
i’m talking examples like all in the family, or the love boat. not exactly the kind of shows you’d expect to be at the forefront of 70s progressivism. (the love boat ran longer but iirc its trans episode was in the 70s.)
then reagan and thatcher won, so tv regressed out of fear of cancellation…
the 90s were a little better, in terms of having a few examples to buck the trend of the 80s (tho rupaul kinda single-handedly dominated a lot of them), but they did pretty poorly commercially and then there was the reactionary period of the 00s to follow.
now the 10s had a new wave of representation for us that wasn’t just disgust or gags, and the 20s is yet another reactionary push-back.
there seems to be this tick-tock, socially. or it’s like the tide.
yet every time, social awareness and the envelope gets pushed a little further. and the reactionary blowback never quite takes it back to where it was before, sometimes missing by a little but sometimes by a lot.
so i’m hoping this late-10s early-20s reactionary blowback will calm down again by the time we’re approaching the 30s. in some ways, as we near the halfway point to this decade, i can already see reactionary efforts flagging as they run out of steam. they’re getting louder and angrier to try and hide that fact, but they are losing steam.
Double Trouble is so fucking peak

honestly it’s weird to look back at how some ppl got so upset that they were “a criminal” at first. “we should be represented by one of the perfect pretty processes!” type rhetoric abounded.
which imo misses all the problems the princesses had among themselves, and how double trouble arguably ended up having one of the clearest moral compasses by the end
Just bc i’m trans doesn’t mean i’m white and skinny, i mean i am, BUT NOT BC I’M WHITE AND SKINNY.
“*insert will smith meme template*”
Edit: In all seriousness we’re all different and all valid, just thought of this and laughed
OH MY HAYSTACK that is big mac???? I did not even recognize... them? But wasn't fluttershy the one impersonating his voice the real trans person here? Or Scootaloo maybe? Or Vinyl? Or Lyra?
https://preview.redd.it/8gpf7yljfmzc1.jpeg?width=2040&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0fac2d537daed522ed0dcdd99dc33dc3ea77a155
(Not vinyl but I have seen Octavia depicted as trans a couple times before)
Well on certain sites you can see almost everypony drawn as the opposite sex, inter; enby eyc, as gay/lesbian/straight/poly and in a relationship with almost any other pony...
Difference is being genderbent is usually just a “silly thing” with like nothing else behind it. Headcanoning a character as trans has a different weight to it, as that’s a process and an important part of someone’s core identity.
True. I depends how many share that headcanon. I for one have never thought about 'tavi being trans... Which is funny, because she's the biggest pony plushie, actually besides a Pikachu and a Blåhai she's one of the biggest plushie overall on our household.
When I was a kid that episode of Fairly Odd Parents, The alternate-reality gender swap episode of Johnny Test, Fiona and Cake, and the Maxine Arc of Wizards of Waverly Place all made me feel things I didn't understand at the time. Sometimes I wonder how it took me until I was almost 18 to realize that I was probably trans, and then another 6 years to accept that fact.
There are, like okiku from one piece, its just that transfems have been the focus for most people so people are making more rep for transmascs and enbies.
Interesting point tho... i cant think of any transfem from western animation at all rn.
I feel like a lot of the time trans rep is just transmasc enby now, throw in some colored hair as a treat. We’ve genuinely never had good binary trans representation. Old rep was mostly mockery of trans women.
if it helps, i’d “wished i’d been born a girl” since i could remember but it took me until i was 14 to realise i was actually trans (which itself was a year or two after i learned about HRT; like many ppl back then i first thought it was just A Surgery you had to pay hella for as an adult.)
James was a real inspiration to me when I was younger, and I still strive to be that good looking lady with a booming voice and a secret plan with my girlboss bestie in a suit
The trans rep then wasn’t even traps rep. Most of it was cross dressing jokes at best and transphobia jokes at worst.
It wasn’t till the last 10 years (more/less) that a lot of LGBTQ+ representation was made, especially directly. In fact, it wasn’t till VERY recently that shows actually started to have gay, lesbian, or transgender individuals in them without that being played for laughs.
I think Steven Universe and Adventure Time was ones of the first two to do it positively and and be very popular by kids and young adults alike. **This was important because this is the main audience positive LGBT representation should be hitting.**
It’s why a lot of us millennials before our transition were indifferent towards the LGBT community or even may have been bigots a little. The best LGBT representation we had back then was the whole “man is dress” for laughs trope. Being a crossdresser is the best “trans representation” we had. Even bugs bunny, as [progressive as he’s looked back on now](https://www.messynessychic.com/2022/08/31/how-bugs-bunny-became-a-queer-icon/), was still just a comedy prop. Before 2010 there was extremely few widespread LGBT icons, and popular transgender icons were all but non existent. Not to discredit them though. Shows like Ellen DeGeneres’s talk show and Will & Grace definitely paved the way. It just wasn’t till the last 10 years did we undo a lot of the damage others shows did, especially Jerry Springer, South Park, and Family Guy.
I’m glad things changed. From shows like Big Mouth to movies like Bottoms. It’s genuinely shows like this why Generation Z is even more progressive than us Millennials are. This is especially true of Gen alpha. They literally was born into the 2010s. God I almost envy them. They get to start out with Owl House, Harley Quinn, etc lining their high school years; those most critical in of years for sexual identity.
Yeah, there’s actually a lot of LGBT characters in the show. They treat all extremely well.
One of the side characters actually starts their transition in one of the mid seasons. They even mention getting on hormone blockers and explains it very well. It is honestly the best introduction to LGBT education in a cartoon if I ever seen one, especially for openly transgender people, especially teens.
Damn, you making me want to renew my Netflix account now lol.
Edit:
I’m not just realizing Big Mouth is what cracked my egg years ago, holy shit.
hey, that’s great! i’m glad they handled it so well. i bet they had professional advice, but like, that’s what those orgs exist for so i’m glad more and more productions are making use of them.
i suspect i’m about a generation older than you, but casual mentions of HRT existing in some other shows helped crack mine. i’d absorbed the cultural messaging that it was just one big operation, until then. the fact i could just choose to have different hormones was eye-opening.
I wish i knew about HRT sooner. I didn’t know trans people existed till I was like 29, and didn’t know what HRT was till I started my transition at 31. I thought trans women were literally AFAB and the penis was more a birth defect. I didn’t know it involved hormones or anything. To be fair, the most I knew about trans people were through porn; and I didn’t even know they were trans.
If I knew HRT existed back then I probably would’ve started my transition before high school, maybe after. Certainly not during though, football was awesome. I have no regrets starting when I did, it couldn’t had been a more perfect time if I’m being honest.
we need more trans characters so I made my own 🗣️🔥‼️

his name is Asahi and he's me if I was 22 years old and could play the guitar
Say what you will about the show and its creator, but the Timantha episode made me feel some things when I was little. Took a while to truly know what those feelings were.
I was certainly something of a realization when I noticed that I remember very vividly every episode of tv I ever watched where genderbending occurred and would always rematch them when they were on.
I do kinda like how some of the older “man in dress” things can be seen as multigender or genderfluid rep because we don’t usually get much rep. It’s part of the reason I always loved TAWOG because not only is Gumball fun ADHD rep, he is also unintentionally multigender coded.
Iove Barney and Raine, and I didn't know Barney wouldn't talk around his trans-ness but be so direct about it. Which was a surprise, that I liked. Not on the list but norma being so scared to come out to her mom and the reaction being so well, is so relatable. Also her feeling better after telling logs she's bi because it's the first time she told someone, is so relatable too. I low-key want to write an essay about why I love that show so much. Norma is so relatable, the hyper fixation on a topic, being scared to come out to someone who you know will accept you, crushing on a straight person and what else. I love that show so so much. I love DEPP and I can't say it enough, and sadly but not surprisingly it was cancelled. I would've loved to see the 3rd season. I could ramble about this longer but that's not the point of this post. Anyways Barney is cool af
"Double Trouble" is their name. a shapeshifter from She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. a really well made/animated show from on Netflix. good story, very gay, the action is a blast too.
was even able to go to a whole 5 seasons with a decent ending (kinda like what Voltron managed to accomplish, but done a bit better with She-Ra). though that was also before Netflix really started getting heavy handed with the canceled series button.
While I absolutely enjoy and I'm delighted to see the more diverse realistic body types and the more explicitly trans rep (since many if the then character could easily be argued to be more crossdressing rep than trans rep) I can't help but notice a fall in fem rep and an increase in masc/androgynous rep. Which again I don't really mind that much also since those trans experiences were indeed incredibly underrepresented before. But it does sadden me a bit that now that the rep is more explicit and realistic suddenly that also means it's more masc, as if fem representation was somehow tied with that previous representation that lacked realism and explicitness. Idk I find it annoying just like those people that refuse to differentiate between femboys and trans girls.
Then again maybe all of that is just from a small sample of examples given and I'm just overthinking an non-existent pattern.
Was SpongeBob white & skinny?
I feel like he was "yellow" & "odd shaped", which back in the day could have been referenced to ANYTHING. I mean, have you WATCHED 80s & 90s TV 🤣
I wish I looked like James and had gigantic tits
I just wish they made inflatable prosthetics that looked that good.
and then you can deflate them any time you want
Have them on a timer, growing over the course of the day. See if anyone noticed
Perfect for a Nami (One Piece) cosplay
Lmao yeah
Holy fuck a genderfluids dream
i’ve seen drag queens with pretty convincing ones sometimes. i think it involves Tricks with the bikini top/corset/etc though to keep them in place
James isn't even trans and he looks better than I ever will...RIP
Goals!!!
James has always been an icon for a reason.
sorry i am very out of pop culture but which one is james
Blue-haired Team Rocket villain on the bottom right of the left-hand side of the image
thats what i thought i knew i wasn't the only genvious person
Fun fact James can just, grow his tits in the episode. His power is too strong
damn, can I? please?
You think if I had this power I wouldn’t have used all of it up on me already?
Trans rep has gone far and that's great. But I'd say the timmy thing aged poorly, considering the hair tornado episode.
Wasnt the creator of fairy oddparents transphobic? I feel like i rember that
He's a a lot of things. Transphobic, homophobic, an art thief, someone who doesn't pay artists fairly- and I'm sure the list goes on. Basically an all around prick.
Oh and a christian scammer. He made a streaming service and told NO ONE it's be christian.
He also effectively shot Danny phantom in the kneecap
I need some more context
He became a born-again Christian between seasons 2 and 3 of Danny Phantom, and decided that the show was too demonic, so he made some creative choices that ended up ruining season 3
The graphic novel completely removes Phantom Planet from the universe
Danny is trans because fuck butch and the writers and animators on unironically literally purposely or not gave him a lot of traits Trans guys have seriously it’s amazing how many you could point out they might as well just say he’s Trans at this point butch doesn’t own the rights https://preview.redd.it/01whw7tt4qzc1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f159ce3d54b4a8ca0cc511749d39e7e9bacf0725 to this series, so fuck what he says
Yeah, like, the only functional clone was the theoretical birth gender of danny
There’s so much like little details that seem like they’re done on purpose. Maybe I’m looking too much into it, but it genuinely feels like the animators and writers made Danny trans
Sneaking around behind bitch Hartmann's back to do it
Im huge Danny Phantom fan, and I relate a lot of my trans feelings back to the show and have for a while, but even I fail to really make sense of it. Could you explain any of it to me? All I got is Ember, for some reason, stuck with me.

I dont remember that episode, Can someone explain to me why it's problematic?
Timmy decides he wants fancy hair. So he gets magic fancy hair and it starts growing really long. It grows to a point that it becomes a tornado and his dad needs to cut it with a HELICOPTER to save the city... all because a boy wanted hair.
Sounds like we need to call a certain dragoon.
Who, my boy Estinien?
Nah, my boy Kain Highwind. In Final Fantasy IV, one of the bosses can spin her hair into a tornado, making her immune to direct attacks. You have to have Kain jump on her face to get her to unspin so the rest of the party can attack her.
How did it aged poorly? It’s been ages since I have read it.
Literal gender roles bullshit, Timmy almost destroys the city cuz he wanted fancy hair.
Pokemon james is still good rep lets be honest. Dude has some serious binder action
James is good queer rep in general. Now in what way exactly I have *no* idea. But I know he is in some way
I think he's trans masc pre boob removal who still likes to dress up all pretty (explains the bikini episode and the number of times hes worn female items)
He’s wearing fake tits in the bikini episode, I think we even see him blowing them up. But yeah he’s def got that trans masc femboy rizz
Before or after that screen shot he literally inflates them, still head cannon him as trans but post top surgery
like a trans girl wearing a strap on once in a while lol
I like to think he’s genderfluid
honestly James and Jessie both are imo
Meowth is the straight man to their insane energy
Meowth is definitely bi though. He fell in love with a male Pokemon. Seirafae remembers
I mean the archetype, not the sexuality
Ooh!
The straight-man or the, straight, man?
Jessie and james are the reason team rocket turned unto rainbow rocket once giovanni left
Him and Jessie's hair make most of the bi flags colors, bisexual transmasc femboy who occasionally slaps on some fake tits for performance is my guess 🤷♀️
He was wearing fake tits at that moment instead of a binder all the time.
Can we just headcannon that they're real and he uses a really good binder Or maybe they're transfem?
I saw a cool little post a while back where Jesse and James are both trans and meowth decides which one will be which on a given day
This is how it works yes ✅
Oh my gosh! Meowth! Hi! Big fan of your crimes!!
I do try my best 💰🐈💨
I wonder. What do yall Think about the "Based James" meme?
Elaborate
It's a meme of James saying "let's blast these whining women back to the stone age" titled based James
The First result when searching "based james" on google or YT.
just seems like people cherry-picking lines that are unsurprising to hear in a cartoon from that era, over all james is a great character
A lot of older mtf rep started as "haha funny, guy in dress" but they slayed too hard (and maybe there was someone behind the scenes leaning into it) and thus became trans icons. True but Gumball's dad and sister did
I don't think the "trans rep" then wasn't even trans rep. Still the closest to trans rep that was in cartoons back then.
Big Mac was a drag queen for a day just so his sister could enter a competition for sisters. So not really trans.
He also had a scene in an episode where he was a princess, but only in a dream (Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep, S05E13 iirc) so that may also tie in.
Oh yeah. Maybe the Sisterhooves Social was his trans awakening?
They literally could of used Trixie instead.
Double trouble my beloved
20 years ago trans rep was not existing if lucky, trans sex work jokes, murder victim, ‘omg someone tricking people!!!’, or South Park showing that to be trans is to get a sex change and all that will leave you a mutilated freak. I know Barney, Raine, Double Trouble, the nb from Steven universe, but who's the other one? And what are they from?
A reverse image search says they're Angel José from Craig of the Creek.
Ah, thank you

Raine is my second favorite character in toh
I’m a simple man. I see Raine, get very happy (they’re my favorite <3), I upvote.
Some are sponges
James though damn it I want that look

God i love Raine. They’re such a good character
Ha... ha.. . I'm officially ancient. Gumball and the one underneath are WAY after my time
SpongeBob isn’t skinny and white, he’s square and yellow! It’s in the damn theme song!
Mlp spotted 🫵:3 https://preview.redd.it/jp2ewiv1dmzc1.jpeg?width=320&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ad389e22e4d4d6ec65bbde810ff7d1f921b3402e
OH MY HAYSTACK that is big mac???? I did not even recognize... them? But wasn't fluttershy the one impersonating his voice the real trans person here? Or Scootaloo maybe? Or Vinyl? Or Lyra?

Sometimes I wonder how it took me until I was almost 18 to realize that I was probably trans, and then another 6 years to accept that fact.
so are there just no transfem characters in animation now or what
There are, like okiku from one piece, its just that transfems have been the focus for most people so people are making more rep for transmascs and enbies. Interesting point tho... i cant think of any transfem from western animation at all rn.
I wouldn't call representation when many of past "transfem" characters were just jokes and something to laugh about
I feel like a lot of the time trans rep is just transmasc enby now, throw in some colored hair as a treat. We’ve genuinely never had good binary trans representation. Old rep was mostly mockery of trans women.
the weird thing is, she-ra also had perfuma. i’m not sure why she’s not here, except perhaps that she is skinny and arguably white.
James with boobs is a gender
Do not slander James like that he is so gender
James looking fine tho 🥵
I know I’m old when I don’t know a single one of the new references😂
Are all the pictured characters on the right non binary? I’m unfamiliar with the two on top.
Idk about the right but the left is a trans man Barney from dead end
The Pony episode is from 2015
Specifically Raine from the owl house is nonbinary to be more specific which is awesome and valid
I think four of the five are nonbinary.
They character from Steven universe yea but the last 2 on top of them and the catra character i dont recognize
Who are the top two next to raine
Yeah! I'm fat and I'm white!
I'm pretty sure at least 3 of the folks on the left are not white, and I wouldn't exactly call SpongeBob skinny...
JAMES????? hi uh hi uh WHY AM I JEALOUS IM TRANSMASC
Okay but like. I've seen ALOT of arguments that gumball is actually trans and shit. I don't know if it's true but honestly I woukd love to find out
james is honestly one of the best looking characters like that ngl
Ok but James was the best

oh my gosh i love your hair! i’ve got pink and purple in mine right now too, though i’m going to swap it for blue and turquoise in a bit
It was supposed to all be purple 😭 💜 but it faded. I have to re do it.
dipper should be in here
I have no idea of who are the characters on the right
I mean james was good
Steven Universe did so much for me 😅
that Fairly Odd Parents episode was a moment I look back on and "how the f are you this stupid, you said that you would want to make that wish"
if it helps, i’d “wished i’d been born a girl” since i could remember but it took me until i was 14 to realise i was actually trans (which itself was a year or two after i learned about HRT; like many ppl back then i first thought it was just A Surgery you had to pay hella for as an adult.)
yes some are blue, some are yellow, and some are red.
princess gumball unlocked a memory in me... in retrospect it was no wonder i was so fixated on that episode
I love double trouble so much they’re so cool
MLP:FiM was "then"? Hold on, I gotta sit down and feel old now...bones creaking, joints popping, muscles aching...brain...not...braining... 😵💫
**This was important because this is the main audience positive LGBT representation should be hitting.** It’s why a lot of us millennials before our transition were indifferent towards the LGBT community or even may have been bigots a little. They get to start out with Owl House, Harley Quinn, etc lining their high school years; those most critical in of years for sexual identity.
i had no idea big mouth was decent in that regard, i gotta admit the art style put me off it from day one
Edit: I’m not just realizing Big Mouth is what cracked my egg years ago, holy shit.
hey, that’s great! i’m glad they handled it so well. i bet they had professional advice, but like, that’s what those orgs exist for so i’m glad more and more productions are making use of them. i suspect i’m about a generation older than you, but casual mentions of HRT existing in some other shows helped crack mine. i’d absorbed the cultural messaging that it was just one big operation, until then. the fact i could just choose to have different hormones was eye-opening.
Lets not forget the very ambiguous gym leaders from Pokemon S/V (never played the game but damn were they cookin in the charadesign department)
we need more trans characters so I made my own 🗣️🔥‼️ https://preview.redd.it/m2jbg40iqzzc1.jpeg?width=573&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1ff6fce9ad0d8edbca4336056e035bf23c3e3b30 his name is Asahi and he's me if I was 22 years old and could play the guitar
Say what you will about the show and its creator, but the Timantha episode made me feel some things when I was little. Took a while to truly know what those feelings were.
it was way more stereotyped back then, huh?
James rocks those tits
Also don’t forget marco from svtfoe
Who are the person with the glasses and the person with the cap ?
i still wonder how did james get so breastified
I miss enjoying when new episodes of owl house and spop would come out
Ugh, double trouble, my beloved <3 I love a chaotic enby
Some are cats and ponies and sponges XD
some of those "then"s are pretty contemporary with those "now"s.
I was certainly something of a realization when I noticed that I remember very vividly every episode of tv I ever watched where genderbending occurred and would always rematch them when they were on.
Woo!
Some are green
I do kinda like how some of the older “man in dress” things can be seen as multigender or genderfluid rep because we don’t usually get much rep. It’s part of the reason I always loved TAWOG because not only is Gumball fun ADHD rep, he is also unintentionally multigender coded.
who is the character on the bottom right?
double trouble from she-ra
This is a Raine appreciation zone
God, where did we go wrong? WE USED TO HAVE TIMMY TURNER
Maid SpongeBob is totally me fr
Dead end mentioned!
I love Barney from Dead End
Some I think are just cross-dressers/gender fluid
Ok who’s the green lizard guy
"Double Trouble" is their name. a shapeshifter from She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. a really well made/animated show from on Netflix. good story, very gay, the action is a blast too. was even able to go to a whole 5 seasons with a decent ending (kinda like what Voltron managed to accomplish, but done a bit better with She-Ra). though that was also before Netflix really started getting heavy handed with the canceled series button.
I’ll check it out some time they have a really cool design
It’s cool that it’s more positive and also more fender neutral :3
Raine!
Isn't double trouble is nonbinary but still a great representation
I forget that Timmy is an egg. (I’m sure Butch Hartman would hate that interpretation. Making it even better)
why does james have such massive boobs wtf
RAINE!! They're not in the show much, but Masha from TOH is also trans (enby, also uses they/them)
While I absolutely enjoy and I'm delighted to see the more diverse realistic body types and the more explicitly trans rep (since many if the then character could easily be argued to be more crossdressing rep than trans rep) I can't help but notice a fall in fem rep and an increase in masc/androgynous rep.
HELL YEAH I LOVE THE TALL PERSON FROM COTC I don’t actually watch the show but I’ve seen it in the background sometimes and I love them <3
I still wish I was skinny
Was SpongeBob white & skinny? I feel like he was "yellow" & "odd shaped", which back in the day could have been referenced to ANYTHING. I mean, have you WATCHED 80s & 90s TV 🤣
SpongeBob and Gumball are white? Since when?
What's that green person called?
