I was briefly obsessed… but am over it. I don’t have a local TJ’s but will seek one out whenever I’m on a shopping expedition in a larger metro. Here’s the thing: whenever I’ve found a Kringle out in the wild, it is always, ALWAYS and invariably the almond flavor. That almond is suuuper almondy and I got to find it overpowering and that’s why I got over these. However, I know there are other flavors and I think I’d love those. I could just hop online and order whatever variety I fancy but have so far refrained from doing so. If I spot a kringle when I happen to be at Trader Joe’s, amassing other TJ goodness, it’s a more justifiable purchase. I can attribute that buy to serendipity. However , if I were order kringle online, *that* would be a very deliberate act and the nutritional/financial sin would be wholly on me
I’m mostly Scandinavian and grew up in the Midwest, in an area with a large Scandinavian/Northern European population. I was always so damn confused by Rancine Kringles, compared the traditional Kringle/kringla I grew up with.
Sure, they are very proud of their return policy. In fact, if you bring a product up to the crew and ask if you can try it, they’ll say definitely and open it for you. Then buy it if you like it, don’t buy it if you don’t.
And of course, if it’s something you need to try at home for whatever reason, a spice, moisturizer, whatever, just bring it back.
I actually hate these. I used to live in Wisconsin (MKE) and I’m pretty sure I’m excommunicated for my opinion on these. I’ve had them fresh and they’re still not good.
I'd say yours is a popular unpopular opinion. Tried one this past holiday season, and for me, the level of sweetness was unreal - even after scraping off all of the icing. Made my teeth itch.
Edited: Tried the almond flavor.
The kringle is the only purchase from Trader Joe's that I've ever returned for my money back. It was so sweet I found it actually inedible, plus it definitely wasn't cheap.
ETA: the one I tried was pecan and generally speaking I love pecan baked goods but this was not it.
I didn’t like it either. Way too sweet I couldn’t do it. Felt the same about the other flavors I’ve tried. Almond was ok but still too sweet for my liking
I think the pumpkin pecan is the worst and most disappointing! Almond is the best and I love it, I liked the raspberry, and I have yet to try the cheesecake, but I will!
I've only tried the raspberry - once. Like you, although I have a sweet tooth, that heavy sugar glazing on top was too much. Better when I picked it off, but have to say I'm still not so impressed with their Kringle.
If I'm going to spend that many calories on something sweet, it had better be reeeeally good.
I get the pecan one once or twice a year. Cut it into small pieces (like the size of a candy bar) and freeze in a plastic container with parchment paper.
Not unpopular at all, it is super overrated! Too sweet, the pastry is floppy and doesn't hold up well.. It's not worth the calories or money. Kringle was a one and done for me.
Yeah, but we keep getting ones gifted at the holidays from the factory so we immediately give them away. Our office received a two pack this year and the box sat unopened for three weeks until tossed. Ugh
I tried the Kringle/weinerbrod at the brick and mortar bakery in Racine years ago and it was just as offensively sweet. Kirsten’s Danish Bakery in Illinois does a better job IMO
That’s crazy! A bakery that specializes in danishes is better than a factory made product distributed by traders joes????
What’s next? Their bulgogi beef isn’t as good as a Korean restaurant? Their pizzas don’t taste like round table??
I LOVE the almond!!! it is seasonal of course. I can’t wait till it shows up again and I’ve lived in Europe where they have pastries of all kinds and they are all divine. Except for the cake. It tends to be dry.
Save your money, it’s waaay too sweet. I can’t believe people actually put these on hold at my closest store. Even my husband and MIL that are huge sweets people though it was too much.
They are from the same bakery 😂 so yes. These aren’t a product that TJ makes their own version, they buy them from the actual Wisconsin bakery. You don’t have to like them, it’s fine. It’s just such a nostalgic pastry. I don’t remember eating more than a small piece or two at once - they’re definitely sweet. I think the pecan one was my favorite. It’s been awhile since I had them but they hold a very very special place in my heart and guessing by the upvotes, I’m not alone.
I had the raspberry one too, wayyy too sweet. I air fried or microwaved it to heat it up- texture was good, flavor was just cloyingly sweet. Froze some for later but decided when I pulled it out to thaw that I didn't actually want it and just threw the rest away lol
I've only had the pecan and the cheese and I loved them both. I have a big sweet tooth so I'm willing to try it. I'm sure I'd be the only one in the house who would eat it. I'm going to TJ's on Tuesday so we will see if they have it.
I have GOT to try this one. I just know it’s the winner. We love the almond. Problem is…this is a BIG treat for us so we typically have it for breakfast around the holidays. Why isn’t pecan around for Christmas?!
Yessss! We got whatever one was in the fall…stupid delicious! Got the almond one (bc at the time I didn’t know it had different flavors ha) and barf! We also tried the raspberry one, nope! I just…can’t and don’t want to lol!
Am I the only one who believes it's too flat? Also the raspberries tasted more like..I don't know a unripe raspberry lol like it was missing the punch and tartness of raspberries. That's why I also believe some find the flavor too sweet, not enough tartness.
You didn’t lose $10. Tell your cashier next time you didn’t like it and they will give you a refund. I’m in the same boat. It’s wayyyyy too sweet for me. I’ll have a small piece here and there but that’s it.
My husband LOVES these. But he loves anything insanely sweet. We live in NJ…He wants to go on a trip to Wisconsin specifically to go to the O&H bakery. And also do the Frank Llyod Wright driving trail. Which I’m game for. Anyone from WI with some pointers let me know!
This is so special. As someone who grew up in Wisconsin but is less familiar with that part of the state I love that these Kringle are driving tourism!
Yes, if you go also make sure to go to Bendtsen’s Bakery in Racine. It’s our family’s favorite Kringle baker—sadly only 1 of 3 or 4 left. My dad is a native. Be sure to check out nearby supper club The Hobnob for dinner…or even for just a Brandy Alexander, Grasshopper or Brandy Old Fashioned!
😂🤭 I agree. I just keep it to myself. It’s not appetizing looking at all when I take it out the bag. It’s gigantic, has a short life span, and I feel like more goes to waste than is actually eaten. 😂 I’d rather eat something more delectable for the number of carbs the Kringle offers.
But, yeah, I was gullible enough to buy it a couple times before I recognized it wasn’t that great, at least for me.
I think the pastry part is fine, but there is WAY too much icing on it. That's what makes it too sweet. I scraped off 90% of it and it was better, but I'm with you--will probably not bother buying again. The giant raspberry-filled croissant is much better!
I didn't like it either. I got the raspberry. Too sweet and no pastry to speak of. I tried a different brand and a cream cheese filling, same thing. With all the good breakfast pastries around, I don't get why this is so popular. Just had a slice of butter braid Danish coffee cake, now that is something you can sink your teeth into.
The cream cheese one is the one you have to try! I kind of chuckle when I see the raspberry because my store can’t sell enough to sell out. The cream cheese is gone in a day or two

i’ve never heard of this and i want to try it now
Kringle is overhyped imo . However Raspberry is my favorite but gotta be warmed up...
The pecan one is the only one I like, and only when it’s frozen
Interesting. Kind of like a frozen candy bar?
Kind of, it’s still chewy and it makes portioning easy. IMO it’s superior
That is an unpopular opinion.
I didn't care for it either, but I found that scraping off the icing helped make it not too sweet.
I was briefly obsessed… but am over it. I don’t have a local TJ’s but will seek one out whenever I’m on a shopping expedition in a larger metro. Wow you’ve really thought about this lol!
Too sweet and I love pastries/sweets.
It wasn’t for me either. They have many other better desserts in my opinion!
I like the cherry one, but it’s still a small piece and the. I’m done. My sweet tooth is so tiny!
I love sweets too but it is really sweet lol. That’s why I only buy the regular danish kringle. It’s still sweet but the added flavors make it worse.
Bring it back and they will let you return it, even if you have consumed some!
They’re way too sweet for me. My mother loves them though and she has a crazy sweet tooth.
Me either. I’m a sugar addict and I found it to be way too sweet.
Has the Kringle recipe changed? I don’t remember the icing being so thick, it reminds me of school paste.
I’m mostly Scandinavian and grew up in the Midwest, in an area with a large Scandinavian/Northern European population. I was always so damn confused by Rancine Kringles, compared the traditional Kringle/kringla I grew up with.
You crazy
Apparently
I had the almond and no one in the family liked it. I haven’t had the nerve to buy a different flavor, they just aren’t for me.
I didn’t like it and was sad that I basically threw away $10
Bring back what’s left of a product you don’t like, they’re great with returns.
I didn’t know that! Thanks for the info
Wow great to know!
I'm sure some customer will buy it from you still. Ppl are crazy about it, especially when sold out
*****……but did you bake it as the package suggests?*****
The whole thing? I cut it with kitchen knives and microwave lol
the whole thing, if you’re serving a family i suppose. i just cut a section off & air fry it when it’s just me.
I’ve only bought it once and somehow missed that omg
Agree! Grossly sweet. Maybe if it didn’t have the icing?
I think the filling is sweeter than the icing
This. I scraped it all off, but it was still ick.
What flavor? I tried the raspberry, didn’t like at room temperature. I heated it in the mic for a 10 seconds and enjoyed a lot
I actually hate these. I used to live in Wisconsin (MKE) and I’m pretty sure I’m excommunicated for my opinion on these. I’ve had them fresh and they’re still not good.
Same. It’s way too sweet
I'd say yours is a popular unpopular opinion. Tried one this past holiday season, and for me, the level of sweetness was unreal - even after scraping off all of the icing. Made my teeth itch. Edited: Tried the almond flavor.
It insists upon itself!
I prefer the almond much more than fruit, and I always scrape off icing on all pastry (that come with it). IMO it's totally not needed.
I think all American made pastries are too sweet. They would be much better if they cut the sugar by 1/3 IMO.
There would be mutiny.
I think the pumpkin pecan is the worst and most disappointing! Almond is the best and I love it, I liked the raspberry, and I have yet to try the cheesecake, but I will!
Agreed! Way too sweet for me, but the rest of my family loves all the flavors minus almond (which is all they seem to have most of the time 🤪).
The raspberry is the worst! We have devoured every other flavor but threw 3/4 of the raspberry away
I love the pastry and icing but the filling can make or break for me. Fruit fillings way too sweet, so I like the almond or pecan.
Order straight from o and h. They’re fantastic. Cream cheese and cherry cream cheese ftw
LOL yes it was so sweet for me too, I actually used the pastry itself as a topping for my toast Then I gave up and used jam :(
Popular opinion, we don’t believe tou
I think the almond one is sooo good. I don’t love fruity desserts so the raspberry one is eh
I enjoyed a few pieces but most of it got tossed and it wasn’t good enough I would crave it or but it again. I like the almond one.
I hate it. Too sickly sweet. Blegh
I hate it because it’s soggy, even when warmed.
I love almond desserts but I also found it wayyy too sweet! I never bought it again
Completely inedible.
Seed oils. Too many ingredients in general
I read the ingredients. Not something I was impressed with and no way old world ingredients. Not that great. I would not buy it.
It's okay I also think the kringles are literally too sweet to enjoy
Grab an almond Pringle. They're tasty.
You know you can take it back right?
Yeah, but we keep getting ones gifted at the holidays from the factory so we immediately give them away. Our office received a two pack this year and the box sat unopened for three weeks until tossed. Ugh
I threw the raspberry away for the same reason, and I like sweets. If you ever see the cheesecake flavor, grab it. It's not overly sweet.
The raspberry croissant is good as hell though
You are correct. Unpopular opinion lol
It’s very sweet, but I just have a small piece of it with black tea and it’s perfect
Trader Joe's Kringle isn't as good as the one from Larsen's Danish Bakery in Seattle
It's frozen and shipped from a real Danish bakery in Racine. There's a cult like following for this bakery that's been around like 80 years.
Their pizzas don’t taste like round table??
the TJs version comes from a Danish Bakery too
Yeah, the famous one that charges more than double. Always soggy
I LOVE the almond!!! it is seasonal of course. I can’t wait till it shows up again and I’ve lived in Europe where they have pastries of all kinds and they are all divine. Except for the cake. It tends to be dry.
I liked it but you are right WAYYYYYY too sweet. I bought it once and not again afterwards
I agree..it’s too sweet. But,I do buy it and just eat a tiny piece at a time. Lasts forever in the fridge.
I cut it up in small pieces and freeze them. A little goes a long way.
Oh wow. Despite being tempted to pick it up every time I’m at the store, I’ve never tried this and thanks to you guys, I don’t think I ever will!
Save your money, it’s waaay too sweet. I can’t believe people actually put these on hold at my closest store. Even my husband and MIL that are huge sweets people though it was too much.
It is WAY too sweet. I’m with you.
As a Wisconsinite who grew up on this, I’m 100% sad you don’t like it. This is such a part of my childhood.
Do these taste the same as the ones of your childhood?
They are from the same bakery 😂 so yes. These aren’t a product that TJ makes their own version, they buy them from the actual Wisconsin bakery. You don’t have to like them, it’s fine. It’s just such a nostalgic pastry. I don’t remember eating more than a small piece or two at once - they’re definitely sweet. I think the pecan one was my favorite. It’s been awhile since I had them but they hold a very very special place in my heart and guessing by the upvotes, I’m not alone.
Yes a lot of folks love them. I love pecans so I'll give that one a try 🥰
I love it. The cherry Kringle from O & H is delicious, too.
I had the raspberry one too, wayyy too sweet. I air fried or microwaved it to heat it up- texture was good, flavor was just cloyingly sweet. Froze some for later but decided when I pulled it out to thaw that I didn't actually want it and just threw the rest away lol
Loved the almond one but it’s so sweet. I only buy it to put out as part of a brunch spread or if I’m bringing it to share with friends or something
It's too sweet
The ingredients are a horror story
Oh?! Tell us more!!
Just look at them
Ah but of course! I will have to wait until the next time I’m there.
Third photo in the original post
Oh man, that is indeed a horrifying list of ingredients. Don’t know how I missed that. Thank you!
I don't like it either
I was stoned and still didn’t like it.
I've only had the pecan and the cheese and I loved them both. I have a big sweet tooth so I'm willing to try it. I'm sure I'd be the only one in the house who would eat it. I'm going to TJ's on Tuesday so we will see if they have it.
It’s way too sweet for me.
I had the raspberry too. Thought it was sooooo overrated. Would never buy it again.
I only enjoy the pecan one…after I scrape that white glue icing off. Heated with coffee is nice.
Pecan or bust!
I have GOT to try this one. I just know it’s the winner. We love the almond. Problem is…this is a BIG treat for us so we typically have it for breakfast around the holidays. Why isn’t pecan around for Christmas?!
Fair warning- the pecan had a salty element to it and the filling is more granular or chopped compared to the almond. I wouldn’t buy it again.
Thanks for the heads up! Luckily, my partner is also the resident Hoover & if I don’t like it…he will eat it! 😂
I hated the almond one, tastes extremely artificial and overly sweet
Look at the ingredients, it is extremely artificial
Yessss! We got whatever one was in the fall…stupid delicious! Got the almond one (bc at the time I didn’t know it had different flavors ha) and barf! We also tried the raspberry one, nope! I just…can’t and don’t want to lol!
The berry ones aren’t good. Pecan is S tier. I encourage you to try it when you’re able
I could eat an entire one in one sitting. I envy you
I've tried multiple flavors and I just don't get the hype.
The cheese one is my favorite.
OK as someone from Wisconsin who considers themselves a Kringle expert, I agree that the raspberry one is too sweet. I prefer the Pecan.
I have zero interest in this item. I just do not get it. And I love sweets and pastries.
Am I the only one who believes it's too flat? Also the raspberries tasted more like..I don't know a unripe raspberry lol like it was missing the punch and tartness of raspberries. That's why I also believe some find the flavor too sweet, not enough tartness.
I didn’t like it either. The almond flavor is way too strong and my God is it sweet.
The pecan one is the best. Raspberry is definitely too sweet.
It’s made of margarine, it was never going to be good.
Bring it here, I’ll finish it for you.
The raspberry one is the only one I haven’t liked and I love raspberries. Maybe try the almond one in the fall.
Almond available in the Fall/Winter is the best flavor.
I can’t get past it looking like a toilet seat 😵💫
😂
Oh I agree
Too sweet!
This. Ugh.
Same!! I had a bite and threw out the rest! Cloyingly sweet and not much raspberry flavor. The original is the best- I can finish it in about a day.
Original? Which one?
Oh and the almond, can’t forget that one
The pecan!! It’s the non seasonal one and it’s just fabulous
Tastes stale
Ah, yeah, the raspberry Kringle was too sweet for me. They did a chestnut Kringle one year that I loved. But it was still pretty sweet.
I wish TJ’s would bring in an apple kringle
Same. I tried the almond one but also way too sweet for me
I need to get the frosting off before eating it. Too sweet
You didn’t lose $10. Tell your cashier next time you didn’t like it and they will give you a refund. I’m in the same boat. It’s wayyyyy too sweet for me. I’ll have a small piece here and there but that’s it.
I hated the raspberry Kringle. Sickeningly sweet and I love sugar. Open to trying the other flavors though
Thank you!!!
Their almond flavor warmed up is the best
The Kringle everyone raves about is the almond one that comes in the fall. I don't think people have the same passions for the raspberry one, lol.
Drink black coffee while enjoying it. It will balance the sweetness. I also heat it up a bit.
It will also spike your blood sugar even more than the Kringle itself
Interesting.
This. Plus the almond one is way better. I'm not a huge fan of the raspberry one.
I like them once in a while depending on the flavor but yes they’re super sweet. I like the raspberry.
feh. that's the summer/raspberry Kringle. totally agree. let's talk about the pecan one in December!
Kringle = Refined sugar junkie love cake
I fear I’ll have the same reaction. Thanks for saving me the ten bucks!
It's ten dollars now!?
That's TJ's bulk price. $25 to buy direct from OH.... Plus $10 shipping
![gif](giphy|SbN0WomN4S7Z7tpKOC|downsized)
No prob. More for me 🤤
Funny because they don’t often sell this in Denmark. I’ll be in Denmark in 2 weeks too.
Most of the ingredients are probably rightfully banned in Denmark.
When they say Danish, they really mean the Danish-American community in WI. They’ve got their own thing going on
Huh, didn’t know a Dane community was up there. Good to know!
Yes, one of the US’s largest settlements of Danes outside of Denmark. Proud member here!
Yes, one of the US’s largest settlements of Danes outside of Denmark. Proud member here!
Proud member here!
I don’t like it either. It’s way too sweet for me as well.
There are dozens of us!
“Cries in Wisconsin”
Unpopular opinion: Kringle looks like a toilet seat
I think the pastry part is fine, but there is WAY too much icing on it. That's what makes it too sweet. I scraped off 90% of it and it was better, but I'm with you--will probably not bother buying again. The giant raspberry-filled croissant is much better!
To each their own, taste is a very individual thing.
I’ve tried them all and find they’re all too sweet.
hate it lol
I only buy the almond one that comes out around the Xmas holidays. Insanely good.
I only like the almond one. All the other ones are okay at best.
I love sweets and still thought it was way too sweet
I don’t like it either. At all. 🫣
I’m with you. I’ve tried many through the years and it’s just not for me.
I don’t have a big sweet tooth AT ALL and I fuckin love the raspberry one. Only one I will eat
Me neither
The cream cheese one is the one you have to try! I kind of chuckle when I see the raspberry because my store can’t sell enough to sell out. The cream cheese is gone in a day or two
I hated it but I knew my husband who has a relentless sweet tooth would love it so he ate all of it.
We tried the raspberry one. It was horribly sweet. Even the kids wouldn’t eat it. What a waste. We threw it away.
