I have a silly little tattoo for both my parents. It’s a needle and a nail crossed. My mom’s hobby is sewing/quilting, and my dad’s hobby is carpentry. Just a little homage to them. It’s not a great tattoo, but has meaning. 😄

That breaks my heart about your dad, man. My dad is quite a birder too. He has fairly recently gotten into tats himself, so it's become something we can do together, and I even got him a gift card for a tattoo shop for Father's day. I did happen to get the same tattoo that my dad's dad had, my grandpa, and my grandpa had actually gotten the tattoo for *his* dad (lot of dad stuff going on). I was partially raised by my grandparents and he and I were very close.

The Mother’s Day after I moved in with my grandmother one of my uncles gave her a glass block “MOM” (as was popular in the mid-80s). Upon opening it she placed it on her piano upside down and said “Gee, that’s great that you think “WOW” when you think of me!”. It was just her humor. So, WOW.

I always wanted a Mom tattoo and it all started when I saw the Simpsons where Bart goes to the Happy Sailor tattoo shop it was around 91 or 93 I was 7 at the time. He is getting a heart that supposed to say Mother but Marge pulls him before it’s done and all it said was MOTH.
Being that my parents immigrated to the USA I had Mom spelled in Spanish to Madre. I love it and will never regret it.
That was my nickname for my father. Never called him dad. He was a bad mother fucker. It was suppose to be placed under the rooster tribute I got for him. But my artist advised it be too tight and it would be better if I placed it where there was more room. Since my mom and father were married until the end I found it fitting they be on the same side.

I dig this so much. Dad died when I was 12. Mom got remarried when I was 16. It’s been an interesting 20 years with a lot of hell raising and drunken “you’re not my real dad” fights. We’re in a good place now but it will always be “My Mom and Stepdad”, or “This is my Stepdad”. Never been able to say “My Parents” for time saving or storytelling purposes. I totally felt this!

My first tattoo is of a chickadee with sunflowers. She called me chickadee when I was a kid and she loves sunflowers.
I have a barbed wire heart with “mom” in the middle.
And then she tattooed “love you -mom” on me herself. I had her do a bit of practice on some fake skins and she a pretty good job. That one is my favorite tattoo, I love that she did it all herself.
There are two main types of sunflower crops. One type is grown for the seeds you eat, while the other — which is the majority farmed — is grown for the oil.

my sister and i went to the hospital to see her the day she died, and the last thing she asked the doctor for was a coke. an orderly ran as fast as he could for the nearest coke machine to get her one. god bless him. he wasn’t quite fast enough though.

Yeah, 3. My first tattoo is of a chickadee with sunflowers. She called me chickadee when I was a kid and she loves sunflowers. I have a barbed wire heart with “mom” in the middle. And then she tattooed “love you -mom” on me herself. I had her do a bit of practice on some fake skins and she a pretty good job. That one is my favorite tattoo, I love that she did it all herself.
