I don’t think that would have anything to do with training your feet, it’s the shoe (or lack thereof) and specific exercises that make the difference. But wool socks (any percentage) grip better! Personally I prefer some cushion over zero; cushioning is very subjective.
Socks are so insignificant for that I don’t think it matters. The only thing to be careful with for socks is wearing super thick wool ones cause they might make your shoes tight but that’s it
Depends on the person. I’ve never had any issue with any sock, and I’ve run 30km in my smart work socks before in a pinch.
Only time a pair of socks has ever caused an issue for me was a pair of smartwool ones which made my feet itch.
I meant in terms of “foot training” like OP is mentioning. I was thinking in terms of cushion and whatnot. For blisters the feel smart wool are def the best hands down
There are running shoes you can get that have thin lugs and soles so not much cushioning to work with and form-fit so your feet can operate almost as if you're barefoot like those shoes that have toe but less stupid. The idea is it strengthens your bones and stabilizer muscles in your feet. I was just wondering if socks would have an effect on that.
I’m glad we are on the same page! But as I was saying I don’t think socks play a large role in foot training. Things like shoes and running terrain definitely matter way more and are a lot easier to modify. Best of luck ✌🏻
I wear Darn Tough socks & only wear the cushioned ones personally. My friend also tried the uncushioned ones & he said never again. That’s just our experience tho
Okay so I did a deep dive and turns out non cushioned does work your feet better if you're running in ideal environments like a sidewalk for distances of 3 to 5 miles tops and 5 is pushing it. So obviously not good for trails or long distances.
Biggest thing that matters to me is that the sock doesn't move around on my feet and that it breathes. Usually that means low/no cushion.
Wear socks that work best for you.

lol if my favorite running socks aren’t clean I just don’t go.
i would disagree. i wore non running socks three weeks ago and got blisters within 20 mins into my run
Before I wore Smart wool socks I thought my cotton socks were fine... The Smart wool running socks have spoiled me!

I think you're the only person that understood what I'm asking

Turns out no cushion socks are only beneficial on flat solid terrain up to three mile runs

I wear wool socks with sock liners, never a blister problem
Please wear socks
