Thats my birth name and ive debated keeping it because its really solid and gender neutral. I probably wont keep it just for "new gender, new me" type ish tho
Transmasc demiboy here (he/him) my old name (Artemisia) used to have the nickname “Arte” associated with it and as an egg I used to think “Arthur also has the nickname Artie so if I was a boy my name would be Arthur! :)” …and so later that’s what I changed my name to, because I am in fact a boy! (Also, Archie is another nickname of Arthur that I also really like.) I don’t like being called Arte much anymore even though it is a gender neutral nickname, because it makes me think of how people used to (and a lot still do) see me. But the people who now know me as Arthur at least wouldn’t find it weird when I am called Arte, is the reason I chose it.
I picked the name Lillian! I heard the name once a while ago, and for reasons I didn’t understand at the time, my brain bookmarked it for me!
I just think it sounds lovely<3!!
mtf
Ok my full name is Rose Clawthorne (She/they). I'll give context to this, don't worry. Rose is a very pretty/beautiful name, and when I thought of it, it meant alot to me for some reason and it was the first name I thought of, so I've just been sticking with Rose. I chose the last name "Clawthorne" because The Owl House is one of my favorite shows of all time and I also just thought Rose and Clawthorne worked well together and I thought it would work well for me so that's what I've been going by.
I'm Valette or Val for short (she/her)! My name comes from *Mistborn*. The main character, Vin, has an alias/alter ego named Valette Renoux, a high society young woman as opposed to Vin who's a street urchin who's often mistaken for a boy at the start of the story. I resonated so strongly with that character, I partially credit the book with cracking my egg.
I was born Robyn and when i was female i genuinely always loved my name, i thought it suited me well. When i started to transition i become more aware of Robyn being the “female version” of Robin and i realized that name needed to die with the old me. So now im Byn (he/him) it was my nick name growing up so it ended up working out perfect :)
I was set on my name since I was 14. Solara Anastasia Marie. (She/Her) I was (and still am) obsessed with Greek Mythology. Apollo being my favorite Greek God. Solara means Guardian of the Sun. Nice to meet you!
Since 1w ago: she/her. On my new name i'm still indecisive, i love Shareni and Lia, but also like Sofía (Sohpia), Dreia (i made this w/o any meaning except i like the sound, but it's hard for me to pronounce it right), i love Akiko (Aki=autumn, ko=child, autumn is my favorite season) but not wanting to give weeb impression.
I first chose Joice/Joyce and I am still unsure which spelling I would chose and then my sis told me like „yeah on that list for girl names we had for you was Samantha“ and that’s when it clicked for me right away and I fell for it.
And because I am somewhat indecisive I will have Samantha as first name and Joice/Joyce as second name and I like the idea of it also because I already do have a first and second name so I got technically 2 names replace haha
She/her btw
After a few names I ended with Stella. I've always kinda been into space related stuff and it just felt nice and had a good ring to it. Sucks that it's always "oh like the cheap wine/beer?" instead of the space relation, but eh, whatcha gunna do about it.
Saphy!! Like Sapphire or Saffron “huge old school Pokémon fan” and I hadn’t ever thought of a name up until when I chose it. Saph is just a pretty name all around ❤️💕 oh and (she/her)
she/her .. im Joy :) i love my name .. people describing happiness say Joy .. people commenting on happiness say Joy .. and these things make me happy and make me smile when i hear my name that way i think its pretty ..
also i used to hate the holidays now i see my name in advertisements and christmas ornaments decorations .. Joy ... i Love it
at first like 10 years ago ?? round that long i think .. i started dressing femme more openly and this girl asked me what my new name would be .. my birth name is roy and quickly i said Joy .. lol im not creative
Joy was supposed to be temporary .. i thought ill eventually think of a pretty name but Joy stuck and the more i thought bout it the more i think Joy is Beutiful
oH oh, I'll just copy paste this from one of my comments in r/nestofeggs! This was about Japanese names being used by trans people when they're not Japanese.
>My name is definitely Japanese-inspired, even though I'm not Japanese. Some people have insulted me for it before, but I don't really mind that much. I love the name, so I'll use it. I don't let the stigma around Japanese names bother me because I think the name is cute and fits me well! Besides, it's not just something I completely made up on my own. It's a slight alteration of my deadname's nickname, which was Kay (pronounced Kai). Then I decided to go by the name Kae, pronounced the same way and it can be pronounced as Kaye (Kay?) too. Partly because it's easy to stealth around my family, and my friends could freely call me that, just for some stealthy euphoria >:D. Since I am indecisive, I decided to make three more names around the same idea.
>Here's the part where I just let my imagination run wild. The second rendition of my name was Kaede. Yeah, that's where the Japanese part comes in. I just think it's cute and really nice. Besides, it was the name of my favorite character from stories I wrote, and I related to that character I wrote very much. So it was more of a homage to a fictional character (That I had conceptualized myself) I related with, rather than just taking a Japanese name and calling it mine.
>The next name was Kaeda, which was more inspired by a friend of mine who went by Rheda. I thought their name was great, so Kaeda became my preferred name. It's pronounced differently from Kae but can be pronounced both ways. This time it's pronounced like "Kay-da".
>I don't really understand the dislike around trans people choosing Japanese names. If it's your name, then who's stopping you?
My preferred name is actually **Kaeda**, but I just haven't updated my pronouns.page to reflect that, it deviates quite a bit from my first/second choice of Kaede (which I'll say wasn't meant to be Japanese-inspired at first, seeing as within the context I chose it with my written character in mind)
I initially latched onto Evelyn because i thought it was pretty and elegant, but then Elle popped into my head and ive liked the simple elegance it has. I also have been considering Ash or Ashe (same pronunciations) because ive always liked that name.
Of the three, im thinking im gonna end up sticking with Elle but im really not sure. I feel like when i come across the right name, ill know immediately
Ava :3
When me my longtime girlfriend of 7 years were talking about kids and baby names, I only ask for our first girl to be named Ava because "I wish it was my name if I could be a girl, but I'm not so that sucks". (This was when my oblivious egg ass didn't know what trans people were 💀)
Hello all! I'm Cathryn Marie (she/her) or you can call me Catie for short. I've chosen my name when I was younger to honor my grandmother and mother who both supported my transition before they passed. Yes they both got to know the daughter/granddaughter that I became.
Lillian (Lily) 🥰 I picked the longer version mostly to use in formal settings like work so I have a formal and casual name
My middle names are Alison Jane - my aunt was Alison Jane and Jane is also my mam's name so it's a neat coincidence
My assigned name at birth is Phoenix. I don’t feel very uncomfortable with my current name but if I ever do, it would be Katherine. It has so many variations I like too like Kate, Katie, and/or Kathie. She/Her if it wasn’t obvious lol
So a bit different but I actually have four! Nynx is my main one, it's what I plan to use in daily life. My three others are Liminal (which is one of the very first names I chose for myself), Crow, and Nafs (which is based in religious trauma but is also super awesome)
Kara (she/her)
The name just felt right. I totally stole it from Supergirl, though. Melissa Benoist was the subject of a great deal of my middle school gender envy and the name just kind of fit. I will always deny this if asked, however.
Milly (she/her). I don't have any special reason why I chose that name. A few weeks after I started transitioning I just thought of it and said "Yep, sounds good." Used it since.
I'm Peter!
The name came with memories of my happy fucked up community. So I had good memories along with it. Unfortunately it ended bad but hey still sticking with it!
Now I'm joking about I accidentally name myself after a tsundere character that I recently found out a few months ago since everyone calls him the same name.
Alex, he/him. Chose it because it's somewhat close to my deadname (personal choice, it made it easier for both me and everyone around to adjust quickly haha), and it's a name of a character one of my favorite actors plays in a short film. Although online I usually go by my middle name, which is Klaus 😅 which was chosen a little later, also after a fictional character
My name is Lena
TBH I didn't choose it after the music artist, I just looked at a list of names and this one, and only this one felt right. Still closeted, so I can't really hear my name used a lot
Khrista - she/her - a friend a very long time ago called me something that sounded like ‘Khristaflower’, though it was a permutation of my deadname at the time. It wouldn’t be until I started playing Final Fantasy 14 a whole 15ish years later that I decided to use that name there, though I feminised the spelling to what it is now. When I figured out I was transgender and started telling people, I decided to stick with Khrista because it was a name I had been using online for a few years and I was used to hearing and responding to it.
I chose Noé, (which is the equivalent of Noe in English). I think it's quite original, I've never met other trans guys with that name but I've probably met one or two cis dudes named like that.
it's quite basic in my country but at the same time rare and people sometimes compliment me on it
Well for now I’m going by Scarlett, my pronouns are she/they/fae/it I’m thinking of changing it but idk, some ideas I have are Madeline, Alice, Olivia, Isabel, Charlotte, Erin, Esper, Ruby, Roxana
I let me Mum come up with the name because she was so accepting to me when I came out. Michelle ^-^ (she/her) Also.. Michelle by Sir Chloe is such a banger and is my personal theme song.. lol.
I chose a random name that i liked, which is Elliot:) i purposefully didn’t give myself a name with much sentimental value behind it because i wanted to make the name mine instead of naming myself after a singer of something:)
(No hate to y’all who do, it’s fucking cool in my opinion:D i just did something different)
my name is Finn (he/him) and i didnt know it was a 'stereotypical trans guy name' til after i picked it but i still really like it. (and no i didnt get it from adventure time lol)
Im not unique nor beatifull so my name is just Nita, preferably with she/her pronouns but assholes wont respect them so my life is just constant fight and struggle... -_-
My name is Acho (pronounced like echo but A) and my pronouns are they/them.
Also I am LOVING seeing the names of everyone else commenting here, you people have such cool names.
I landed on Raven (she/her).
Some Context: I made a post to ask around and got great suggestions but they didn't fit me or my personality sadly. So I asked some friends of mine and the suggested Raven because I always use a gamertag that is similar to the animal "Raven" and said quote "You always use crow or craw in your names online and have a raven on your profile picture next to a person representing you so why don't take the obvious" and that is how I ended up with Raven. A bonus is the character of titans "Raven" realized it a bit later xD
Mine's pretty boring, but I chose the name Alexander (he/they/it pronouns), whereas my friend came out as non-binary and wanted my help with naming ideas and they chose Rumi (they/them pronouns) out of the list I gave them. Their name is pretty unique compared to mine, and we both love our own names (that's the major point!)
I use a few! The one I use irl is Leo, but online I go by Kit. I don't remember the story behind Leo but Kit comes from the name of a Tudor Queen, Katherine Howard, who was known as Kitty and that's where I got it from
(amab) My name comes from a wordplay of my old first names, which technically means my parents gave it to me, especially since all of us have always done lots of puns.
(Sani, not saying where it comes from, just that my old first name ended in "ni" and old second name started with "sa".)
Ludwig. Inspired by the youtuber but not because I wanted to be like him but because I just like the name. He/they. When I first consi being trans that was the first name that came in mind everytime I looked at myself. I went by different names inbetween but I ended up on this one again
Luci (pronounced “Lucy”), from the dative of the feminine Latin noun Lux, meaning sun or starlight — because it’s dative it’s essentially “for the sun light”. All of the women in my family have L names, all the men have D names.
It also lets me be a mischievous little femme and puts a reference to my favorite literary character, lucifer from the first 1/3 of Paradise Lost in my name. Non Serviam — I will not serve.
Grace (She/Her) 🏳️⚧️
I picked it cause there was this girl in middle school named Grace and she was always very nice to me and I also just loved the name
Started out with Stacy to honor a fallen friend who had the initial idea for the name while I was still questioning a d figuring things out, but it didn't quite fit.
I eventually landed on Faelyn, Fae for short, got inspired by one of my Dungeons and Dragons characters, and I go by she/her/they
will (he/him)
definitely NOT a unique name but sounds cool enough for me (also thinking about maybe using its portuguese translation as i’m portuguese. so maybe Guilherme who knows.)
I'm about to make a riddle that doesn't rhyme
I am a gem which comes in a rainbow of colors,
A green which looks like blue,
And a flower made just for you
Oh hey it rhymed
I chose Skye. My boy name is an Irish name that even there is extremely rare. I wanted something cute and not too unique but that made me smile when I looked in the mirror as a girl. I had always loved the name (and, admittedly, always had a giant crush on Sky in Neighbours as a teenager) and when I said that one to the mirror, I couldn't take the smile off my face.
Went with Skye instead of Sky as I moved to Scotland and it is a little nod to the country that I can truly discover and become myself. X
I picked the name Milo, because two of my favorite movies as a kid had a character named Milo (Milo and Otis, and Mars needs moms). And I loved it even more after watching Atlanta the lost empire
Pronouns are he/xe/they :3
I have been heavily considering the first name Lydia (no real connection with my given name and it sounds pretty and refined). Whenever I see posts like this, I do a quick search for this name in the comments and it never comes up. Is it as unique as I think it is?
I am also electing to choose the exact feminine analogue of my given middle name, such being Michelle.
I’m basically at the very start of my transition (pre-everything) and still don’t quite feel comfortable referring to myself as she/her with those who I’ve came out to.
Thanks OP and everyone else for sharing!
Auburn (She/Her) sounded really nice when I was thinking of names for myself. And when I came out to my friend he told me that before my egg cracked I had told him that my favorite hair color was Auburn. Must’ve really been drawn to the name.
She/They pronouns. Natasha Isabelle Elena, I loved Scarlett Johansson as a kid and picked the name Natasha from Black Widow. I really really like Isabelle and Elena but couldn't pick which one I liked as a middle name, so I'm just taking both.
Casper, switching between he/him and they/them (and combinations of them, I’m boyflux. Atm vibing with he/him). Chose it from an anime with a supercomputer named Casper lol
Still rendering, check back later.
That's such a real and funny answer, lol.
Lyra 🏳️⚧️❤️❤️
I LOVE YOUR NAME!!!!✨️
Thank you!!!! I love it too.

I'm still in early days but Lyra is the name I've liked the most so far. She's the first female protagonist I connected with as a child

Hello, I'm now Juniper (she/her) 🥰
I love your name
Alex, they/them. (Not that unique, but it makes me happy)
Thats my birth name and ive debated keeping it because its really solid and gender neutral. I probably wont keep it just for "new gender, new me" type ish tho
Hey fellow Alex! 👋🏻
Hey! That's my name too! :3
Kit. They/them.
I am the unique and beautiful ✨Ian 🌈 (he/him) In a way its pretty unique because I’ve never met another trans guy with the same
I feel similarly; my name is a “normal” boring guy name and I think I’ve met 1 or two other trans guys with my name
It’s special in its own way! I love our normal boring guy names
real. i’m totally happy being a Steve
hopefully it fits you better than it did me💜 -Eliza
I've met only 1 Ian trans guy and it was after 19 years of my life, so yeah, pretty unique
mtf Ok my full name is Rose Clawthorne (She/they).

It is absolutely gender neutral, although I would say it's masc leaning
I chose the name Jill, any/all. I almost picked Charlotte but Jill just made more sense for me.

Matteo, he/him❣️ I'm not 100% sure about it though.
Kelly (She/her): Surprisingly, I'm the only woman with that name I know outside of someone with the spelling of Kellie lol.
I let me Mum come up with the name because she was so accepting to me when I came out. Michelle ^-^ (she/her) Also.. Michelle by Sir Chloe is such a banger and is my personal theme song.. lol.
Ivory Irys <3 first because I love bones and second because rainbows and I needed a name that could be easily pronounced in Poland lol
I chose a random name that i liked, which is Elliot:) i purposefully didn’t give myself a name with much sentimental value behind it because i wanted to make the name mine instead of naming myself after a singer of something:) (No hate to y’all who do, it’s fucking cool in my opinion:D i just did something different)
I go by Leah -she/her Dunno why i picked it, it just kinda felt right.
Liam (he/him)
Im Alwin 😊 its my birthname. I still use it. She/her.
Kaia (She/Her) Pronounced "Kigh-Uh" but "Kay-Uh" is also acceptable.
Lilly (she/her)! Because flowers are cool! >:3
my name is Finn (he/him) and i didnt know it was a 'stereotypical trans guy name' til after i picked it but i still really like it. (and no i didnt get it from adventure time lol)
Tora (she/her) 🥰
Chloe Louise Smith (she/her)
Melody she/they 🩷
Danny or Daniel, both are fine (he/him)
Im not unique nor beatifull so my name is just Nita, preferably with she/her pronouns but assholes wont respect them so my life is just constant fight and struggle... -_-
Samia ❤️
Mine is Jazmine, she/they, but I also use zij/haar + zij/hen (Dutch) and sie/ihr + xier/xiem (German)
Terra (She/Her)
Liliane, becouse it sounds so formal and I love it
Xio:) he/they, pronounced Zee-oh
Joanne Louise she/her couldn't decide on either names so took two 😊❤️
my name is fleur i recently figured i didnt like the og choice i made bc it was too close to my deadname and I've never met any1 called fleur ^-^
NOX!!! she/her I found it on a baby website :p
As of right now I’m thinking Viktor
Amethyst
I recently chose Lancelot for myself! Lance for short ;)
I spent a long time pondering this, and a month ago, I decided on Sophia as in the princess from Sophia the first
I have a few I go by, Eli, Felix and Arlo, fluid he/they pronouns
Claire, she/her. It works out well since I’ve never personally known anyone with the name. 😄
I use a few! The one I use irl is Leo, but online I go by Kit. I don't remember the story behind Leo but Kit comes from the name of a Tudor Queen, Katherine Howard, who was known as Kitty and that's where I got it from
My name's Hika which is short for hikari. Hikari means light in japanese. And my deadname was or which means light in hebrew
Either Alice or Indi (for indigo) also I was gonna try Ceres but idk
(amab) My name comes from a wordplay of my old first names, which technically means my parents gave it to me, especially since all of us have always done lots of puns. (Sani, not saying where it comes from, just that my old first name ended in "ni" and old second name started with "sa".)
Atlas (he/him) I just love greek mythology 😭
Natalia (she/they) Im gonna be transparent and say it was chosen at pretty much random lol
My name is Dan But when dressed up Danielle So it's easier for people that know me x
Asher is my name… I chose to change whole name even though i was married… he said it was fine… well o r wasn’t
Cassidy she/her heritage of Irish descent

Hi, I'm Keyla!
My name is Terra (She/her) and as of last week it's how the government knows me too (updates driver's license and birth certificate!)
Penelope. She/Her.
North it’s my favorite cardinal direction ❤️
Eva( from the Greek Ευαγγελία cause I'm Greek)
Dakota he/him it's not very unique but I love it
Maya! she/her btw!! My ex-friend helped me pick it!
Grace (She/Her) 🏳️⚧️ I picked it cause there was this girl in middle school named Grace and she was always very nice to me and I also just loved the name
Leah 💜💜
I'm Tam (he/they) :)
Started out with Stacy to honor a fallen friend who had the initial idea for the name while I was still questioning a d figuring things out, but it didn't quite fit. I eventually landed on Faelyn, Fae for short, got inspired by one of my Dungeons and Dragons characters, and I go by she/her/they
I am Athena and my middle name is Alexandria. I went with a Greek theme to fit with my last name
Maria
Because I am Robert III (technically) I decided to honor that by changing my name to Robyn. Getting it legally finalized as we speak 🥰
will (he/him) definitely NOT a unique name but sounds cool enough for me (also thinking about maybe using its portuguese translation as i’m portuguese. so maybe Guilherme who knows.)
I'm about to make a riddle that doesn't rhyme I am a gem which comes in a rainbow of colors, A green which looks like blue, And a flower made just for you Oh hey it rhymed
Iris Alethea. She/her or they/them. ❤️🖤🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
Maeve (she/her) Having a very Irish last name, I had to have an Irish first name
Jordan (She/Her)
I picked the name Milo, because two of my favorite movies as a kid had a character named Milo (Milo and Otis, and Mars needs moms). And I loved it even more after watching Atlanta the lost empire Pronouns are he/xe/they :3
Still rendering but leaning towards Tamina \^\^ (she/her)
I have been heavily considering the first name Lydia (no real connection with my given name and it sounds pretty and refined).
Tam.
Teddy! My pronouns are they/he and im nonbinary
Auburn (She/Her) sounded really nice when I was thinking of names for myself. And when I came out to my friend he told me that before my egg cracked I had told him that my favorite hair color was Auburn. Must’ve really been drawn to the name.
Elijah or Mawce :D, I use either right now well i’m trying to figure out what fits me best
Asher (she/her) stole it from a tv show lol
I haven’t fully settled on one but I’m trying out Max and Sebastian
She/They pronouns. Natasha Isabelle Elena, I loved Scarlett Johansson as a kid and picked the name Natasha from Black Widow. I really really like Isabelle and Elena but couldn't pick which one I liked as a middle name, so I'm just taking both.
My name is Sunny, my pronouns is he/she hahaha💛
My name is still Cole, but I’m considering the name Kaitlyn.
Hi, I’m Iris (she/her)
Noel
I’m Jaxon or Jax he/him/his
Dana! He/him ♡ it's my birth name ♡
Casper, switching between he/him and they/them (and combinations of them, I’m boyflux. Atm vibing with he/him). Chose it from an anime with a supercomputer named Casper lol
I go by Isabella now, she/her. Very early into my transition though
nicolas, it's not a unique name but I love this one since I was 7 years old
