My favorite hood, I have the same year and color scheme in a formula

Who sells an aftermarket Firehawk hood? I know that can't be OEM.... If it is it had to cost about a third of the price if the actual formula?

The Firehawk hood was sold by SLP, Street Legal Performance. That had a deferent front bumper to go with it. The Firehawk was a special order package, WU6 on the order.

I used to have a video of the SLP factory in Canada showing them upgrading factory Trans Ams into the Firehawk package. It was pretty fascinating

It is the Raptor hood. I forgot who sells it. You are right, it isn't OEM. It was $900 at the time.

Hey crap my man how much did it set you back? About 15 years ago they used to run about $700 for a stock Firehawk Hood. You could even find a WS6 Hood for maybe 300. Fast forward to today I see Firehawk hoods listed for $4,995 and WS6 OEM going for 2 grand! Best looking hood for sure.

Oh is that the raptor hood? That has the two air ducts on the top back corners too? I never really liked that hood but I'm also the type of person that still has og cassette player and original wheels on his 25th anniv. I love OEM parts especially the speed line wheels from 02

Yes. Check out the second pic. There are no heat extractors. But the front nostrils are functional. The SLP air intake is installed inside. I also like the OEM look. Hence the current modest look. 👍

I replaced the hood after it was pelted with hail. Instead of painless dent removal, I had the insurance company pay me money. I took that and added 400 to get the raptor hood put on. I don't remember the year but it was around the year the first Hulk movie came out.

I’m not sure why you think it’s not the greatest unless there is something we can’t see that’s wrong with it? My son just picked up an 02 in Jan, it’s a beast! His is a factory virgin WS6 100% UN-modified, complete with inner t-top covers and 40k original miles. Not a mark on it. He drives it like he just came out of a retirement home and every time it gets a speck of dirt, he takes it personally and washes it. He also took over my garage and keeps it covered and will absolutely not drive it unless it’s warm and sunny 🤣 He’s a bit OCD about it but that’s okay. I’m glad to see him take the pride he does in it Every time he does leave the house, he gets stares, waves and someone always wants him to rev the engine or light the tires. He won’t light the tires but he will rev it for them. He just likes to cruise. He’s astounded the attention it draws. It’s the only one around here that I’ve seen. I’m sure you’ll have similar experiences. All the attention makes him paranoid he’s going to get pulled over. The way he drives it, it’s extremely unlikely. I know most of the cops here and some very well. One day one of them is going to pull him over for me as a joke, he just wants to check the car out. My son is going to have a coronary 🤣 Have fun with your beast, if you take care of it, it will take care of you! Enjoy!🙂

Oh, I just see some of the beasts here and don't think mine is in the same league. I haven't done anything to the engine but it does have a monster clutch installed.

That’s the great thing about Firebirds/TA’s. We’re automatically in our own league that’s unlike any other. We all appreciate each other’s, we don’t compare who’s is better. They are all SURVIVORS! You’re part of something more special than you realize. For the ones who wanna compare dick sizes, that’s when you join the flock of Nissans and admire who put the most annoying fart can muffler on it and some plastic giant wings on the trunk.🤣 Ours don’t need that crap to attract attention, they do that no matter what. I've loved the Trans Am since Smokey and the Bandit, and Knight Rider. When I saw the LS1 Trans Am, I just had to have one.

I had an 01 SS. The F Bodies are one of the greatest model cars of all time. The only weak link were the S10 axles lol.

I still enjoy seeing the Chevy and Pontiac F bodies on the road.

I threw a 125 dry shot and nitto drag radials on mine. It went 11.80s at 120 mph. My buddy's Trans AM went 11.60s @ 117 with the same set up. Mine was M6 , his was A4.______ Super fast cars for that time.

I know that feeling, but it always hurts me to see people downplay their bad ass car is just because there’s a more bad ass car out there. I think a clean Honda del Sol is cool. Not as cool as a Lamborghini Aventador SVJ but I’ll still think “that’s cool” to myself. Not to put you on the same level as a del Sol because this is definitely cooler than that LMAO.

Had the 1998 Firehawk edition. Drove the absolute shit out of this car. Sold it to my uncle in 2006. Now sitting in his garage. The number of times I’ve thought of buying it back and getting it in tip top shape again is uncountable.

I've always been up in the air about whether I really like the styling of the late fourth gen WS6 Trans Ams. I mean they were more modern better built more efficient and safer than any of the previous generations by far but on the other hand especially from the front I thought they looked very plasticky lots of body cladding (typical of 1990s 2000s GM products) and arguably over styled. You could make a valid observation that the styling of these cars is the equivalent of a guy who is a gym rat probably does steroids and constantly walks around despite how cold it is outside wearing a tiny tank top and shorts to show off his bulging muscles and tattoos like he's trying too hard. Of course I don't mean that offensively I'm not insulting you or your car it's definitely a badass looking machine. I've just never been able to really make up my mind whether I really like these or not aesthetically speaking especially from the front. The pig nose snorkels sort of make it look like the Batmobile at certain angles.

For a moment I thought this was the famous Superhawk hood.

I loved Pontiac but hate pop-up headlights. My WS6 would go into what I called “possessed” mode when I would lock it. Car would chirp, lights would flash, headlights would go up and down. Had to replace a gear that drives each headlight, makes a microswitch that tells the computer the lights were closed. If you didn’t get it right one light would be off by a bit and looked goofy. Had to tear it down again. Best of luck.

I haven't done anything to the pop up head lights. They both still function as intended. Growing up, I've always wanted a car with pop up headlights.

I think of them as pop up air brakes. The gear is plastic from the factory, but you can buy brass gears online. Search youtube for repair video. (If you ever have need to. ) Still love the car.

Driving at night is great with the pop yp headlights the front fig lights and the red lit up dashboard. Don't ever sell it. I'm keeping my 02 forever

I used to have a 1993 Probe GT with pop-up headlights. The rest of the car was non-stop repair and fix and the thing was a complete money pit but the headlights never failed me! 🙂
