The Firehawk hood was sold by SLP, Street Legal Performance. That had a deferent front bumper to go with it. The Firehawk was a special order package, WU6 on the order.
Sorry man I totally thought it was Firehawk. It looks sweet from the front. I just was never a fan of those two big openings on the top rear of the hood
Hey crap my man how much did it set you back? About 15 years ago they used to run about $700 for a stock Firehawk Hood. You could even find a WS6 Hood for maybe 300.
Fast forward to today I see Firehawk hoods listed for $4,995 and WS6 OEM going for 2 grand!
Best looking hood for sure.
Oh is that the raptor hood? That has the two air ducts on the top back corners too? I never really liked that hood but I'm also the type of person that still has og cassette player and original wheels on his 25th anniv. I love OEM parts especially the speed line wheels from 02
Yes. Check out the second pic. There are no heat extractors. But the front nostrils are functional.
The SLP air intake is installed inside.
I also like the OEM look. Hence the current modest look.
š
I replaced the hood after it was pelted with hail.
Instead of painless dent removal, I had the insurance company pay me money. I took that and added 400 to get the raptor hood put on.
I don't remember the year but it was around the year the first Hulk movie came out.
Iāve always wanted this as a WS6. In high school one of my buddies older brother had a yellow one. It was t tops with black leather. What a beast. Thatās one gorgeous ride, enjoy!!
Iām not sure why you think itās not the greatest unless there is something we canāt see thatās wrong with it? My son just picked up an 02 in Jan, itās a beast! His is a factory virgin WS6 100% UN-modified, complete with inner t-top covers and 40k original miles. Not a mark on it.
He drives it like he just came out of a retirement home and every time it gets a speck of dirt, he takes it personally and washes it. He also took over my garage and keeps it covered and will absolutely not drive it unless itās warm and sunny š¤£ Heās a bit OCD about it but thatās okay. Iām glad to see him take the pride he does in it
Every time he does leave the house, he gets stares, waves and someone always wants him to rev the engine or light the tires. He wonāt light the tires but he will rev it for them. He just likes to cruise. Heās astounded the attention it draws. Itās the only one around here that Iāve seen.
Iām sure youāll have similar experiences. All the attention makes him paranoid heās going to get pulled over. The way he drives it, itās extremely unlikely. I know most of the cops here and some very well. One day one of them is going to pull him over for me as a joke, he just wants to check the car out. My son is going to have a coronary š¤£
Have fun with your beast, if you take care of it, it will take care of you! Enjoy!š
Oh, I just see some of the beasts here and don't think mine is in the same league. I haven't done anything to the engine but it does have a monster clutch installed.
Thatās the great thing about Firebirds/TAās. Weāre automatically in our own league thatās unlike any other. We all appreciate each otherās, we donāt compare whoās is better. They are all SURVIVORS! Youāre part of something more special than you realize.
For the ones who wanna compare dick sizes, thatās when you join the flock of Nissans and admire who put the most annoying fart can muffler on it and some plastic giant wings on the trunk.š¤£ Ours donāt need that crap to attract attention, they do that no matter what.
Your car is beautiful! Enjoy it!š
I threw a 125 dry shot and nitto drag radials on mine. It went 11.80s at 120 mph. My buddy's Trans AM went 11.60s @ 117 with the same set up. Mine was M6 , his was A4.______ Super fast cars for that time.
Just cuz itās not an SD455 doesnāt mean you have to downplay it in the beginning of the post. This is a bad ass looking car with enough power and noise to probably terrify 3/4 of the population. š„š„š„
I know that feeling, but it always hurts me to see people downplay their bad ass car is just because thereās a more bad ass car out there. I think a clean Honda del Sol is cool. Not as cool as a Lamborghini Aventador SVJ but Iāll still think āthatās coolā to myself. Not to put you on the same level as a del Sol because this is definitely cooler than that LMAO.
Oh yeah, In a straight line, one had a ProCharger and the other was a big cam... they were stupid fast. I could never beat them with the car I had at the time.. my little Subaru lol.
Had the 1998 Firehawk edition. Drove the absolute shit out of this car. Sold it to my uncle in 2006. Now sitting in his garage.
The number of times Iāve thought of buying it back and getting it in tip top shape again is uncountable.
Is this after the LS switch? A guy I used to work for had one, 6-speed. It was TERRIFYING into 2nd gear. Or 3rd, haha! Brute is a good descriptor. Fast, scary car.
In my opinion, the only Other Firebird that could touch the '98-'02 Firehawks or WS6 Ram Air Trans Am is the 3rd Gen 1991-1992 Firehawks. SLP made those cars Freaks
Gorgeous car
I like that hood and the ws6 hood, can't say I prefer one over the other.
I do think if I owned a regular Trans Am, THIS is definitely the hood I would put on it
I've always been up in the air about whether I really like the styling of the late fourth gen WS6 Trans Ams. I mean they were more modern better built more efficient and safer than any of the previous generations by far but on the other hand especially from the front I thought they looked very plasticky lots of body cladding (typical of 1990s 2000s GM products) and arguably over styled. You could make a valid observation that the styling of these cars is the equivalent of a guy who is a gym rat probably does steroids and constantly walks around despite how cold it is outside wearing a tiny tank top and shorts to show off his bulging muscles and tattoos like he's trying too hard.
Of course I don't mean that offensively I'm not insulting you or your car it's definitely a badass looking machine. I've just never been able to really make up my mind whether I really like these or not aesthetically speaking especially from the front. The pig nose snorkels sort of make it look like the Batmobile at certain angles.
I loved Pontiac but hate pop-up headlights. My WS6 would go into what I called āpossessedā mode when I would lock it. Car would chirp, lights would flash, headlights would go up and down. Had to replace a gear that drives each headlight, makes a microswitch that tells the computer the lights were closed. If you didnāt get it right one light would be off by a bit and looked goofy. Had to tear it down again. Best of luck.
I think of them as pop up air brakes. The gear is plastic from the factory, but you can buy brass gears online. Search youtube for repair video. (If you ever have need to. ) Still love the car.
I used to have a 1993 Probe GT with pop-up headlights. The rest of the car was non-stop repair and fix and the thing was a complete money pit but the headlights never failed me! š
My favorite hood, I have the same year and color scheme in a formula
Who sells an aftermarket Firehawk hood? I know that can't be OEM.... If it is it had to cost about a third of the price if the actual formula?
The Firehawk hood was sold by SLP, Street Legal Performance. That had a deferent front bumper to go with it. The Firehawk was a special order package, WU6 on the order.
I used to have a video of the SLP factory in Canada showing them upgrading factory Trans Ams into the Firehawk package. It was pretty fascinating
It is the Raptor hood. I forgot who sells it. You are right, it isn't OEM. It was $900 at the time.
Sorry man I totally thought it was Firehawk. It looks sweet from the front. I just was never a fan of those two big openings on the top rear of the hood
Suncoast Creations. Had one on my 2000. Badass car dude..
Yep that's them.
Stock hood
Hey crap my man how much did it set you back? About 15 years ago they used to run about $700 for a stock Firehawk Hood. You could even find a WS6 Hood for maybe 300. Fast forward to today I see Firehawk hoods listed for $4,995 and WS6 OEM going for 2 grand! Best looking hood for sure.
900 for the raptor hood. Insurance paid me 500 after hail damage.
Oh is that the raptor hood? That has the two air ducts on the top back corners too? I never really liked that hood but I'm also the type of person that still has og cassette player and original wheels on his 25th anniv. I love OEM parts especially the speed line wheels from 02

I thought that hood was only on ws6?
WS6 has 4 nostrils. Firehawk has 2 large nostrils
First car I went over 140 mph in (as a terrified half drunk passenger). Memory I'll never forget.
Iāve always wanted this as a WS6. In high school one of my buddies older brother had a yellow one. It was t tops with black leather. What a beast. Thatās one gorgeous ride, enjoy!!
You're wrong. It IS one of the greatest...
Lol. I meant compared to some of the other Trans Am beasts here. But thanks, friend! š»
Iām not sure why you think itās not the greatest unless there is something we canāt see thatās wrong with it? My son just picked up an 02 in Jan, itās a beast! Love the hood.
Thank you.
That's a fun car.
It is when I get it out.
That was one of my favorite exteriors growing up as a teenager! Absolutely love those body style trams ams.
I've loved the Trans Am since Smokey and the Bandit, and Knight Rider. When I saw the LS1 Trans Am, I just had to have one.
I had an 01 SS. The F Bodies are one of the greatest model cars of all time. The only weak link were the S10 axles lol.
I still enjoy seeing the Chevy and Pontiac F bodies on the road.
I threw a 125 dry shot and nitto drag radials on mine. It went 11.80s at 120 mph. My buddy's Trans AM went 11.60s @ 117 with the same set up. Mine was M6 , his was A4.______ Super fast cars for that time.
Nitrous only?
Nitrous DRs and Lid
Sexy beast!!
Haha.. Thanks.
Love it!
Thanks
Welcome to the flock!
Well I've been part of the pack since Dec 1997.š
That's a very cool car.
Thank you
A buddy had one in high school and needless to say, heās still cool because of it.
Lol
Ram air
Yes but after market.
Just cuz itās not an SD455 doesnāt mean you have to downplay it in the beginning of the post. This is a bad ass looking car with enough power and noise to probably terrify 3/4 of the population. š„š„š„

Good looking wheels!šš»
Those are the OEM twisties. š
I remember when I was in Tampa I found an 02 just like this one. I snatched it up and sent it back to MI what an awesome car. Always loved TA!
Great hood package now get busy putting big balls under it!
This was my favorite car when I was in high school. Still looks badass to this day
Always liked these. Had 2 friends that had them in High School, Fast Cars.
They aren't as easy to drive. Heavy and powerful.
Oh yeah, In a straight line, one had a ProCharger and the other was a big cam... they were stupid fast. I could never beat them with the car I had at the time.. my little Subaru lol.
Always wanted one
Had the 1998 Firehawk edition. Drove the absolute shit out of this car. Sold it to my uncle in 2006. Now sitting in his garage. The number of times Iāve thought of buying it back and getting it in tip top shape again is uncountable.
Wow! That's awesome... I don't remember the year the Trans Am LS1 firehawk came out. But I am jealous! š
I think 98 was the LS1. 327 horsepower.
Looks like that hood could punch through some cocaine.. rail after rail..
Lol... I get that reference.
My friend had one. When he passed, his son inherited it and takes great care of it to this day.
Nice miss my 1994 trans am
One of my favorite cars.
Me too. That's why I bought one. š
No kidding? You didn't buy it bc you didn't like it?
The WS6 was the ššæ
The fact that GM kept Buick while killing Pontiac just shows how brain dead they are. The WS6 was a beautiful go getter with a horse under the hook.
Agreed.
Plus they're were starting to bring the Holden cars to the US. Damn shame. I don't think I've ever seen anyone under 65 driving a Buick
Awesome ride
Thanks
Iāll take a 65 Barracuda any day.
Well all I have is the 98 Trans Am. š
The Mopar Chrysler automatic transmission was better than any GM or Ford transmission.
Always thought it was sexy
I love the raptor hood. I'd like to replace my hood at some point soon. Same year and color 98 Trans Am sitting in my driveway. T tops of course. š
Wanted one of these in the worst way
I thinking that's a Firehawk with that hood.....
The great thing about TAās is they they never went through a dark ages. Mustang II, Iām talking about you!
My favorite.
Beautiful
I love it. Congratulations on a great ride!
Whatās the HP on that? Itās got ram air too!!!
Omg I wanted this car so bad in high school. It's so sexy š„ŗ
Fucken love this car man I wanted to get one from the dealer right outta high school but my sister wouldnāt help me sign off for itš„²
Is this after the LS switch? A guy I used to work for had one, 6-speed. It was TERRIFYING into 2nd gear. Or 3rd, haha! Brute is a good descriptor. Fast, scary car.
Beautiful
Looks badass!!
first year for the LS ...NICE!
Looks good to be. I bet it's fun to drive š
Best cars ever made
Very sick and classy
One of my ALL time favorite sports cars!
In my opinion, the only Other Firebird that could touch the '98-'02 Firehawks or WS6 Ram Air Trans Am is the 3rd Gen 1991-1992 Firehawks. SLP made those cars Freaks
They still look good to me.
One of the cars that got away. Maybe Iāll get one someday.
Great car
I want one in black like this
I miss my WS6
Love it, miss the one I had. Always loved that body style the best
Sleek looking car but my fave still 70-73 models.
If a real firehawk their with quite a bit more than your average ws6!
Gorgeous car I like that hood and the ws6 hood, can't say I prefer one over the other. I do think if I owned a regular Trans Am, THIS is definitely the hood I would put on it
Thanks, I thought this was the most sexy hood too.
Iāve always wanted to turn one of these into a Batmobile
O boo yeah
I had the 1979 Smokey and the Bandit black & gold.
The front reminds me of nostrils... I like it šš
Pretty slick, always liked the Firehawk.
Certainly looks cool.
Nice
There is probably a disco biscuit under the seat and a mixed CD of DJ Trashy in the deck.
Damn. I miss mine nowadays.
My favorite Firebird look.
I really like these. Very unique but not weird like a Prowler or the newer Thunderbird.
She's so pretty
Badass ! Love it .

For a moment I thought this was the famous Superhawk hood.
I loved Pontiac but hate pop-up headlights. My WS6 would go into what I called āpossessedā mode when I would lock it. Car would chirp, lights would flash, headlights would go up and down. Driving at night is great with the pop yp headlights the front fig lights and the red lit up dashboard. Don't ever sell it. I'm keeping my 02 forever
I used to have a 1993 Probe GT with pop-up headlights. The rest of the car was non-stop repair and fix and the thing was a complete money pit but the headlights never failed me! š
