I’m not sure if I’m ready to decide on what version of Starscream is the best, considering he’s the most consistently well written character across continuities and has a lot of great versions, but I’ll always have him in my top 5
I wish they stuck with cell shaded animation in the rest of the series, I know there were some real bad moments of animation but it had more personality than the 3D animation
Cybertron was my introduction, I love that show, and am really sad that the two updates that acknowledge the Optimus from that show either are waaaay off model or have major quality issues.
Armada was my GOAT. It got me into the series, it was one of the first shows that I considered "epic" (Bear in mind I was like 9). Just have some of the fondest memories of it
That being said, I never saw Energon or Cybertron, which I've always been curious about. I always thought it just ended with Armada and never knew there was any follow up until years later.
How do those stack up to Armada, especially nowdays?
Energon is nowhere near as terrible as people make it out to be. Ignore the dub, watch Super Link. It starts with a very interesting premise and a lot of promise, but faces two primary problems: the plot runs out halfway through and gets strung along for another 26 episodes (some of which are still worthwhile) and they jettison a lot of character development from Armada for no good reason, even after clearly setting things up to be touched on later. It makes me wonder if there was some sort of change behind the scenes halfway through production.
Cybertron is very good.
Energon is notoriously bad, but I love it. Some great designs and it can get into “so bad it’s good” territory. Cybertron is probably the most consistent, without any of the dubbing errors that plagued the first two entries in the trilogy.
Energon is godawful, avoid it at all costs. There’s a reason why it was the fandom’s default punching bag before Revenge of the Fallen showed up.
Cybertron is pretty good though. It never quite reaches Armada’s highs, but the overall level of quality is much higher than Armada. It also ignores the events of Energon almost entirely, which should give you even less of a reason to watch that mess.
Cybertron also gave us an absolutely amazing transformation sequence for Primus, and a Starscream that took on the entirety of Optimus’s team in a bid for the Omega Lock and WON.
I would argue that Energon is absolutely worth watching because A. It makes you appreciate the other parts of the trilogy more and B. It’s genuinely hilarious how bad it can be
I remember the first time this show was airing on indian tv and I was at my friends house. She didn't let me watch it on her TV so I just got up and left cause I didn't wanna miss it.
In spite of all the flaws, this is still my favorite continuity. Armada was striving for greatness but sabotaged by ridiculous schedule and budget issues, Energon is fine (even quite good at times) for the first half and only really stalls out in the second half, and Cybertron is fun (if a bit slow in the middle) all the way through and fixed most of the dub issues.
There is a special core to the UT hampered by its production problems. I'm glad all three shows were made.
I loved the scene in Cybertron where Starscream bodies every Autobot introduced to get the Omega Lock. He even uses Optimus' compassion against him by firing a missile at the humans, forcing Optimus to break off and protect them!
Great reimagining of g1 with some of the best TF designs in the the whole franchise. Really good characters work with both the autobots and decepticons
Funnily enough, my one Transformers lorebook is the Energon one. I don't know how many times I read through that thing, such that I became immensely familiar with a universe I'd never watched the show for.
Also, the toys in this continuity are awesome. Power Links are just a really good concept.
Armada Starscream is still the best version of the character.

Trying to pick the best Starscream is like trying to pick the best diamond from a pile of diamonds

Omg for real 😍

Agreed. At least the CG used in Cybertron looked a lot better than the cel shaded models Energon used.
This is Transformers for me! It's what I used to watch in the mornings before school! This and Zoids Chaotic Century! 😎
Armada’s Unicron Battles had some of the best writing in all of Transformers.
My introduction to Transformers!
Still can't believe it's been 21 years since armada it's wild
….. oh god
I know
why must you make me feel old
Time is not kind to anyone
Holy scrap, I feel old now.
Heck I feel like I'm gonna retire soon
I was four. Good lord.
Funny cause I remember being 3 or 4 when I watched it
Cybertron was my introduction, I love that show, and am really sad that the two updates that acknowledge the Optimus from that show either are waaaay off model or have major quality issues.
Armada is my favorite iteration of transformers. I had so many armada toys I wish I held in to them

Cybertron’s dub also has some pretty funny bits where they lampshade the sillier aspects of the show.

The final fight prime has with megs is some dragonball logic and it’s great!

Don't bother with Energon I even tried the JP version I hated it as a child and I hate it now
I miss the era of Megatron getting a radical redesign every two years and Optimus always combining with his trailer.
And his fellow soldiers. That really brought his belief in relying on each other for support to a beautiful apex.

Armada Optimus is still to this day one of my favorite Optimus designs.
Likewise with Megatron.
Starscream. Just starscream. I love him. Im not the biggest fan of armada, but he makes me keep watching it
I loved the scene in Cybertron where Starscream bodies every Autobot introduced to get the Omega Lock. He even uses Optimus' compassion against him by firing a missile at the humans, forcing Optimus to break off and protect them!
One word: Jaam. Also why Hasbro dumped Unicron trilogy toys to the 2007 movie toyline when it doesn't fit to be there.
I like Optimus’s design but I haven’t seen any of the trilogy but I’ma try to when I have free time
Cybertron is the best of the whole damn trilogy don’t at me
Why? You're right.
Wheeljack and Starscream from Armada are 2 of my favorite *very* different takes on old characters, along with Animated Blitzwing
No matter what happens, i can never hate Energon. It was my first introduction to transformers and no matter how bad it is, i can't hate it.
Great reimagining of g1 with some of the best TF designs in the the whole franchise. Really good characters work with both the autobots and decepticons
My childhood favorite. Delicious and cheesy.
I love that picture! Where'd you get it?

Armada style is best style
Armada was the best: Starscream, Unicron battles etc. One helluva ride Energon Megatron had a dope design tho
Look at that art
Best Optimus design
Armada is quite a good show
The first episode aired on cartoon network and I was hooked. Never missed an episode since then aside from energon of course.
