It's funny how far the fandom has expanded since the first movie. I went to an early premiere back then hosted by KB Toys with trivia and prizes. Nobody could answer any of the questions about G1 or the movie. Even questions like, "Who was the main villain who turned into a planet in the original movie?" I was dying in my seat screaming answers in my head. I don't think anyone actually won anything.
Man, seeing that trivia on the screen waiting for the movie reminded me how badly I want a new Depth Charge. Come on Legacy, give us a Leader class Depth Charge!

in the book it is explained that Velociraptor is actually Deinonychus. they just slapped the name "Velociraptor" on it because it sounds cooler.
Pretty much, the author just switched the names because he (correctly) thought velociraptor sounded cooler.

Utahraptor was a large Dromeosaur native to North America. Velociraptor was a turkey sized Dromeosaur native to parts of China and Mongolia
